Mr. Snow SAL Block 10- Snow For Sale

Snow For Sale! Snow For Sale!

Good morning, y'all. Are you interested in some snow? Hee ! Hee! Mr. Snow is quite the entrepreneur, and he has bucket loads of snowballs all shaped and ready for your purchasing pleasure. The 10th block in the Mr. Snow SAL is called "Snow For Sale".

"I will have a bucket or two," Mr. Snow.

I colored the pails , scarf and his hat with the white and red crayons.

So far I have shared:

Block 1 Snowballs,    Block 2 Winter Friends, Snow Mitten , Block 4 Waiting for Snow   ,  Block 5 A Jolly Fellow  , Block 6 Snow Quilter  , Block 7 Snow Cream,  Block 8 Decorating the Tree ,  Block 9 Sleighing

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil .

3. Embroider the design .  I used a backstitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stemstitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.

4.   I used a French Knot on Mr. Snow's eyes. You do not have to include the French Knot;  you may want to add  teeny beads for eyes . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2". If you color tint your blocks, remember to place a paper towel over the tinted area and heat set with the iron.   The finished  block size in the  quilt will by 7" x 10" .

Grab your scarf and mittens ! We are going on a sleigh ride! Well at least Mr. Snow wants us to. He has already loaded up in his sleigh and is waiting for us to join him.

"Sleighing " is the 9th block in the Mr. Snow SAL.  Doesn't Mr. Snow look so comfy in the sleigh?

I colored Mr. Snow's  stripes in his scarf and the big sleigh using the white and red crayons.

 So far I have shared:

Have you ever rode in a sleigh? No not this southern gal. But  when there has been snow in years' past, we have loaded up in the good old flat bottom boat which was pulled by a four wheeler. Over the hills of snow we would go - slipping and sliding. Boy was  that loads of fun. Of course all of the cows in the field look at us like we were nuts, but that is ok. It was just fun on the farm on a cold winter's day!

Aaah the good old days;  it has been ages since we have a good snow and enjoyed boat sleighing . I guess for now  I will just dream of a sleigh ride as I enjoy Mr. Snow.

Thank you for the sweet Thursday visit and...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Mr. Snow SAL - Block 1 Snowballs

Pull out the sled and grab your mittens!!! It is that time of the year!  Nah, it's not winter yet, but it is time for my 3rd annual snowman embroidery SAL .  Now I ask you - Can you ever have too many snowmen quilts? Naaaah not this ole' gal!  I have never met a snowman that I didn't like. Have you?

In 2021 , I shared my Frosty McChill SAL where I shared 12 simple snowmen over 12 weeks.  I stitched Mr. Frosty using DMC 498.  He was a very active guy sledding , sweeping ,   making snowballs  and such. You know all of the winter fun!

The Frosty McChill blocks are still available on my blog; you just have to follow the links to each design.

In 2022 , I shared the Flurry & Flakes SAL which was a series of 5 blocks that followed the adventures of  the Flurry family. The blocks were a little more detailed than the Frosty McChill blocks, but  loads of winter fun to work on .  DMC 310 was the floss color that I used for these blocks.

This year I am creating another simple snowman quilt called MR. SNOW . 12 blocks over 12 weeks . The designs will be shared on Thursdays - that is if the Lord is willing and the creek doesn't rise. 🤗

                     Cute Snowman Image Retro

I would be as happy as a snowgal in the middle of a blizzard if you would join me .

You decide what floss color you would like to use and whether you would like to use the  stemstitch or backstitch and also how you want to set your blocks.  You may want to stitch one or all of the blocks- whatever your  sweet heart desires.  I do not have the particulars worked out on how I will set mine, but  I will certainly share that in the future.

The block sizes will be the same as Frosty McChill so you may want to pull some of those blocks to include in the quilt as well. Mr. Snow will be in the same style as Frosty McChill .

Crabapple Hill Studio has a lot of nifty tips on embroidery, color tinting and such. I always like to refer  back to this site before I begin  such a project.

So let me introduce the 1st block .

Snowballs!

I used a white and red crayon to color tint the bucket .

Coloring in small circular motions , I first added a layer of white crayon over the area that I was going to color red  Next I added the red color over the white. Some areas I colored a little darker like around the edges, and I  used lighter pressure as I moved to the center of the bucket.

Since I will be working my blocks in all redwork, I will be adding just a bit of red tinting to  each block.  If you decide to stitch them, you certainly do not have to color yours.

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN FUN FUN!!!

Just a few days ago , I had the air conditioner on  and now it has turned plumb chilly in the holler.  Oh well , it is perfect stitching weather . Don't you think?
Thank you for dropping by ,  sweeties.  I am off to work on a new snowman.
Oh before I leave-  Do you have any suggestions for adventures for  Mr. Snow?

Summer Blues, Salads, and Ho Ho Ho!

The cucumbers keep on coming!

Welcome, ya'll. Come on in and sit a spell!

The garden is still keeping me busy.

For the 4th of July, I made a  yummy to my tummy Creamy Cucumber and Tomato Salad.  It was a big hit at the cookout.

CREAMY CUCUMBER AND TOMATO SALAD
SERVINGS : 4
INGREDIENTS:
SERVINGS : 4
2 Cucumbers sliced
2 Tomatoes sliced
1/4 cup of onion chopped
1 cup of creamy Salad Dressing ( I used JFG mayo; my favorite)
2 Tablespoons of sugar or to taste
a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon of vinegar
dash of dill
DIRECTIONS:
In a large salad bowl, add the cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, salad dressing, sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar and dill, add and adjust to your taste. Chill.

For an extra zing, I added just a dash of Tony Chachere, but I add that to everything.

This past week I canned zucchini,  squash and  dill pickle spears.  More zucchini will be going in the canner today.  I ordered some dissolvable canning labels from Amazon. Hopefully, they will be easy to remove when cleaning the jars.
Look at this cutie patootie teeny quilt.  It is Summer Blues Quilt Archaeology  design by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. It will be going into the hoop very soon.

But in front of it is the  Churn Dash quilt that I pieced last year.

This quilt is from Patriotic Little Quilts.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It's Embroidery Thursday!

This month I will be working on embroidering some wee Christmas ornaments. Simple country ornaments for a new tree theme I have in mind.- A Country Christmas.

You want to join me?  If you do , just grab the doodles and your favorite colors of floss and you can go to town !  I will be sharing 4 each week that is if the Lord is willing and the creek doesn't rise.

My little doodles are hand drawn so they are never perfect, but they provide me a bit of enjoyment.

Let me show you how I am creating my simple ornies.

DIRECTIONS:

🧵1.  I stitched the motif using DMC 498 using the back stitch. I did not stitch the stitching lines along the edge.

🧵2. Cut the embroidery out leaving a generous amount of fabric along the edges.

🧵3. Layer embroidery, batting, and backing. Pin in place.

🧵4. Along the stitching lines, using 2 strands of DMC 498 create the running stitch along the edges.

🧵5. Trim the edges about 1/4" away from edge of quilting.

🧵6. I used 4 strands of red floss and created a loop tying into a stitch in the back of the ornament.

Wahlah! I little embroidered ornament to add to a country Christmas tree.

Wouldn't these be cute as coasters too or maybe a mini quilt?

To prim it up , you might think about giving it a good ole ' coffee/ tea bath.

Oooh ! That reminds me , I need to do a Christmas Parade here in the near future. It is Christmas in July! So much to do and so little time. I guess I better kick it into high gear and get to work. Don't ya think?
Hmmm! I wonder if I could get you to slice some of the zucchinis up for me as I get the canner ready? I promise I won't leave you in the kitchen working  while I sneak off to quilt . 😂😉

Ya'll have a terrific Thursday and let me know if you try the cucumber salad. I would love to know what you think.

As always...

Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll

Everybody Loves A Parade- Well I hope so .

Good morning, snow bunnies!!! Happy Monday!

Are you stitching winter or have you moved on to Valentine's and spring stitching?

I am hip hopping back and forth between winter and Valentine's stitching . I thought it would be fun to look back at some of my freebies that I have shared that are winter themed. Many of these you have seen in the Christmas parade, but maybe there is one of two that you have not seen.

If you are interested in learning more about the stitch or doodle, just click on the colored text and you will be transported back to the post where you can find the chart.  I hope you enjoy.

Some of these  stitches are Christmas ornaments, but they could be stitched for winter as well.
