Changing Out the Quilts

 A very merry Monday to you, Sweetness. Gosh, I do believe it will be another glorious day! 😃  

How about we head to my small foyer to see what quilts I put out on the thrifted shutters. 

 One of the first places  that I like to decorate as the seasons change is my small foyer/hall.   I have 3 thrifted shutters that I  enjoy draping quilts and tops over seasonally.  

Front and center is the Bee Skep quilt that I finished in 2021.

Just because a quilt top is not quilted is not going to stop me from using it.  😄😀

 On the 2nd shutter is Hey Day , a pattern by Villa Rosa Designs.

Two more thrifty finds that I purchased on the World's Longest Yard Sale. A cake plate and deviled eggs dish- perfect for the upcoming holidays. 

I still have my favorite egg dish out  for display . It has faux eggs in it.

Summer Checklist

Woo Hoo! I have  a finish!  Excuse me a minute while I do the happy dance! 😀💗💗

Welcome, y'all and Happy Thursday. 

Though it is a small finish, I am still doing a happy dance. After weeks of dragging my feet,  Summer Checklist  is embroidered and quilted. 

I shared this little embroidery design  in my May 9, 2024 post. 

The finish was super simple. 😀🤗

The finished embroidered block  measures 8 1/2" x  10 1/2"  . I  used 2 strands of DMC 898 for the embroidery work using the back stitch.   

All of the units ready to be pieced into a quilt. 

I cut 2 strips of border fabric 2 1/2" x WOF and then coffee dyed the strips.

 I subcut the fabric to 2 - 2 1/2" x 10 1/2"  to sew on the sides and 2 - 2 1/2" x 12 1/2" for top and bottom of stitchery. 

Fabrics are cut and laid out , ready to be sewn. 

I sewed the 2 1/2"x 10 1/2" strips to each side of the embroidered block. 

Side borders are sewn to each side of the embroidered block. 

I then sewed the 2 1/2"x 12 1/2" strips to the bottom and top of the embroidered block. 

Summer Checklist is pieced and ready to be put in the hoop. 

I quilted around the embroidered design. I then used DMC 898 to create a running stitch 1/4" from the seams of the border in the embroidered block. Soon a little yellow binding was added and...

 Wahlah! Summer Checklist was complete!

A Fall Checklist will be coming soon, but for now I am going to sit back and enjoy these warm summer days.

Summer Days and the Gals on the Farm

Eeeeh! Another finish before the end of the year!!! Welcome y'all and Happy Tuesday Oooh before we take a closer look at my quilt. Look way down the field beyond my quilt. Do you see them? Yep the gals!!! Let's go see them first.  Shall we? 

Edna says, "Howdy " Though she has an ear pulled back she was in a great mood and wanted to see what I was up to.  "No sweet treats today,  Sweetie!"

Brrr! It is cold . These gals just did not want to get up and look at the quilt, but that's okay. "Enjoy your day, ladies. "

Ok, now back to the quilt. I am doing the happy hoe down because I finished Summer Days quilt which I shared as a Stitch Along last year. 

 

Way back in February of 2022, I began dreaming of warmer weather and shared the 1st block in the Summer Days SAL which was  A Little Blue Birdie. 

Over 12 weeks, I shared 12 simple embroidery designs. 

Those blocks included : Little Blue Birdie  ,Time to Plant  ,   A Bowl of Berries ,  A Basket of Blooms , Buzz Buzz  ,  Red , White, and Ewe , Summertime Treat  , Lemonade  , Sunflower Basket ,A Jar of Coneflowers  , Home Tweet Home  , Bowl of Tomatoes.

The embroidered blocks measured 6 1 /2" unfinished and 6 " finished.  I then  created a double churn dash for each block alternating the reds and blues. 

The unfinished block size is 16 1/2" squared.

Hello, Gerite . Now don't you give me that look! Lol. You got to watch her. She can be a bit ornery.  You can barely see Dora , the black and white face in the background. She is a doll. 

I hand quilted 1/4" away from the seams on each of the blocks and outlined the embroidery. 

I was stalled when it came to the border but finally decided to use the Baptist Fan design to quilt the border.  The border fabric was a Pioneer Woman fabric which was perfect for  this quilt.  Edna was quite interested in hearing about my Summer Days.

But Gertie was not. She wouldn't even give me or my quilt a passing glance when I brought out Summer Days. Oh , Gert!!!! I guess she was peeved because no one was bringing a roll of hay down the hill at that very moment. " It will be here shortly, gal.  Can't you just take a peek at my quilt, sweet gal? " 

So do you think I should start dreaming of an Autumn Days or perhaps Winter Days quilt for the future?  Perhaps. 

I am off to snuggle under my Summer Days quilt, dream of warmer weather and of creating another quilt.  I am so grateful that you dropped by for a Tuesday visit.

Hmm. There is Gertie's hay bale. I better see if Mr. Pinker can pull her out a roll. Lol. 

Oh by the way, Bev the red and white faced cow is still not back at this farm yet. She and Dora , the black and white face cow are besties when they are together. Hopefully, Bev will be back soon. 

Heading Home and a Christmas Freebie

Home again , home again jiggety jig! 

Welcome y'all. Mr. Pinker and I are truckin' on down  the road making our way back home from our camping trip. 

As soon as I get back home and unpack , I am going to snatch up my Summer Days quilt and go to town quilting the borders.

I will be using the Baptist Fan quilting design along the borders, and hopefully, in a few short hours the quilting will be completed. 

The quilting on the  top border is complete. 

Not only is it Slow Stitching Sunday, but it is Santa Sunday as well.  I will be working on a Santa stitch this evening, but in the meantime, I have a new stitch to share with you. 

Santa Is On His Way!  It is just a little prim quick stitch. 

Santa is On His Way  uses  some of the same floss colors as Old World Santa and Tree Delivery .  

There are 9 colors in this piece which include : 221, 223, 730, 782, 869, 407, 898, Blanc, and 3371.

✅🌞1. Camping trip.🏕 Mr. Pinker and I will be heading out on a camping trip for the weekend. 

✅🌞2.Work on Hinzeit's November Point.

✅🌞3. Continue working  on Butterfly Kisses binding. I finished Butterfly Kisses. Woo Hoo! I will be posting the finish this week.  

✅🌞5. Finish Block 2  in the Mr. Snow SAL for  Thursday's post.

✅🌞7. Quilt on Shine on Harvest Moon. 

Here I go again! Doing the Happy Hoedown for I completed 100% of my goals. 🤠💃💃💃
