A Thankful Thanksgiving Hutch Tour

Good morning, Sunshine and Welcome. I am dreaming of roasted turkey, Mom's delicious Southern dressing, potato salad and all of the fixins'!

I have started to leaf through my cookbooks searching for recipes for the holiday season.

This year Mr. Pinker and I plan to host the Thanksgiving celebration here at the house. For the last few years , we have been cooking a number of dishes and taking them over to Mom's as that is where most of the family gathers for the  major holidays. Well this year, Mom , Dad and the rest of the family will take a short jaunt down the road to my house.

So I do have a lot of planning to do. Turkey Time will be here soon! Gobble ! Gobble!

Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler , Blessed and  TURKEY TIME is an Erica Michaels freebie which was posted on her Facebook on November 13, 2018 .

Meanwhile I have been decorating the house for the grand occasion.

First up -  the teeny wooden hutch Mr. Pinker constructed decades ago.  It is all "Turkey-fied" ! Hee! Hee!

It is filled to the  hilt with all things Thanksgiving related.

There are gravy boats and...

Lots of pretty thrifted plates in autumnal colors.

There are turkeys... AND

Primitive Hare's freebie "Give Thanks"

TURKEYS!...

AND EVEN MORE TURKEYS!

And I must not forget the Pilgrims.

Be Ye Thankful

Nestled here and there are sweet reminders of family and friends. Indeed, I feel very blessed. 💛❤🤗

I am looking forward  to the hustle and bustle of the next few weeks as we prepare for the holiday.

There are lists to be made and groceries to be bought.
And I do have to rummage through my plates, platters and bowls as well. Oh my! Hustle and Bustle!

Old Fashioned Corn Pudding
INGREDIENTS:
SERVINGS:  4-6
3 eggs , beaten
2 Tablespoons of honey
1 cup of milk
1 1/2 Tablespoons of flour
1 can of cream style corn
2 Tablespoons of melted butter
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Dash of allspice

DIRECTIONS:
Combine honey and milk; add gradually to the flour , stirring until smooth. Add eggs, corn, butter and salt. Mix well. Turn into greased 1  quart baking dish. Sprinkle with allspice. Place baking dish in a pan of hot water. Bake in preheated oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour 45 minutes or until the custard is set.

Will you be cooking for Thanksgiving?  What yummies are your favorites for the holiday season?

I  guess I best get back to searching through my recipes. I am so very grateful for the sweet visit.

Have a fabulous day and enjoy the hustle and bustle !

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

November is Here ! And Tiny Thankful House - A House Freebie

Now it is November;

Trees are nearly bare;

Red and gold and brown leaves;

Scatter everywhere...- Margaret Morgan

Good afternoon, Honey Pies and Happy Happy November. Time to turn the calendar page to a new month. Can you believe it? 😀

Turkey Holler Saltbox and With Thy Needle and Thread's November Word Play

I guess the holiday season is officially upon us. Some of you might even be pulling out your Christmas decor and tapping your toes to merry tunes and  Christmas carols.

Tonight I plan to get up into the attic when it is not so hot and open up the Thanksgiving bin where all my  ceramic turkeys roost for the season. I will shoo those turkeys down the attic stairs and hopefully, soon they will come to rest on the hutch for the Thanksgiving season.

Do you like to decorate for Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Hutch in November of 2021

After wrangling the turkeys, I hope to fully finish my newest tiny house called Tiny Thankful House.  I whipped it up Friday night, but did not have a chance to FFO it into a pin pillow yesterday because I had a house full of little spooks for Halloween- aka my grandsons and nephews.

Mr. Pinker's sighting of a flock of turkeys in our flower garden the other day inspired this piece. I wish he could have taken a photo , but as soon as he opened the door they swooshed up and disappeared into the fog and forest.

If you decide to stitch any of my designs , feel free to choose your own floss colors. I always use whatever floss colors I have on hand at the time and what suits my home decor. ❤

The following DMC floss colors were used in the making of Tiny Thankful House :

🦃 301-  Main house

🦃 435-  House Additions

🦃 829- Turkeys

🦃 832- Turkey beak and feet

🦃898 Border

🦃918- Leaves and turkeys' waddle

🦃 3012 Grass

🦃 3371 Roof, windows, doorway

Tiny Thankful House was stitched on 14 count tea/ coffee dyed Aida.  I posted on how I dye my Aida in 2024  in my Time to Dye- post.

A finishing tutorial was shared in January 2026

Like all of my Tiny Houses, the Tiny Thankful  House is finished in the same manner into a wee pin pillow with a bit of print fabric and lace. I shared the measurements in  my January 13, 2026 post along with the 1st house in the series, Tiny Winter's Day House. ( There will be 12 houses all together.)

Hands on Design - Year in Chalk - November

A few weeks ago I showed you a pumpkin I was working on made of odd shaped scraps.

Well the pumpkin needed a little something extra . So I pulled out my chalk and free hand drew some "grooves" to add to the pumpkin to break up the patchwork.

I also drew out a crow as well. You know me and crows- they are one of my favorite birds.

I will work on the applique this week.

Alright Sweeties, I better get off here before I get long winded. I haven't started this month's roundabout embroidery, but I will work on that this week and post it as well.

Have a great afternoon and keep those needles flying!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Friends, Family and Turkeys- A Thanksgiving Hutch Tour

Gobble, Gobble!🦃🦃🦃 It is Thanksgiving week!. Two more days til Thanksgiving. I am certainly ready for the big day. The groceries are bought, and it is time to prep.

My hutch is filled to the brim with gobblers, plates and stitchy  goodness.  I should also say it is filled with friendship because there are so many beautiful gifts from dear friends and family displayed lovingly on each and every shelf .

I guess you can tell what this is leading up to. Yep another Country Clutter episode where I show my clutter in all its glory.😀 I know this is not for everyone, but it is right up this ole' gal's alley.

Well let's go see what's roosting in the kitchen, shall we?

Coca Cola crates, bottles and a Campbell's soup tin always stay on the top of my hutch, but this year I did add a pip berry fall tree and a pumpkin with some Dollar Tree garland draped along the top edge of the hutch. Gotta love Dollar Tree.

Last year I used some of my brown transferware plates and just loved having them on display so I did the same this year.  Let's strut to the top shelf.

In the corner is Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler which is one of my favorite stitches of fall  2022. Next to the darling Pilgrim lady is  Thanksgiving House - lots of pumpkins and turkeys in this stitch.

Front and center is one of my turkey platters. I have an obsessions with platters especially if a platter has a turkey on it. I bet you can guess that turkeys rank as one of my favorite birds along with a few other feathery friends.  The sweet wooden trucks and darling family gathering their harvest was a gift from dear Patricia. I look forward to displaying them for years to come. 🤗 Thank you , sweet friend.

The little creamer always stays on the hutch year round ; it's another gift from my sweet sis.

In the opposite corner is a grand old gobbler with Blessed tucked in it.  I do not think I can ever have too many Pilgrims. Primitive Hare's freebie "Give Thanks" is always a joy to bring out come November.

Let's ruffle our feathers and fly on down to the 2nd shelf.  More Pilgrims and gobblers are sure to greet us.

Isn't this stitch and finish as cute as button?

Eeeh and a squirrel!!! ❤You know my obsession with those furry tailed rodents. 😀😂 This piece is called "Hello Fall" and was stitched and gifted to me from dear Barbara. I just love it!!! ❤❤❤ Aaaah the attention to details- I just wish I had Barbara's finishing talent. Thank you dear Barbara; this piece is a treasure. "Hello Fall is a freebie from October House Fiber Arts. I do hope you visit their website  for there is lots of gorgeous eye candy to enjoy.

One of the Thanksgiving pieces that I worked on this fall is Be Ye Thankful which I have not shared yet. I was inspired by these 2 Pilgrims that my mom bought me eons ago  from Ingles Grocery store.

I miss those days when grocery stores had reasonably priced knick knacks that could be snuck into the grocery order. Lol but I digress.  Anywhoo, Miles and Priscillas are enjoying a harvest with turkeys all about in this stitch. This stitch is as snug as a bug in a rug in the frame ; in fact it cuts some of the stitching off, but it was in my stash and I loved it so I popped Be Ye Thankful in it.  Maybe I will find another frame in the future.

TURKEY TIME is an Erica Michaels freebie which was posted on her Facebook on November 13, 2018 . It is tucked in a small turkey dish  .

In the corner are 2 colorful  turkey tureens. I don't know if you can tell, but I placed packaging tape over the lids . Last year I broke one of the ladles so I did not want to repeat that incident.

The darling "Gather" sign was a gift from dear Shelly a couple of years ago. It comes out each fall . Thank you again , Shelly.

Hmmm. I wonder if I could squeeze just one more gobbler onto the 3rd shelf. 🤔🦃😀

I kept the redware bowl in the vintage juicer and added some fall picks.

The Better Homes and Garden pie plate that I used in my fall hutch display is nestled in the corner.

I stitched TURKEY HOLLER SALTBOX last year. I enjoyed using some nontraditional colors in this autumn house.

"Happy Thanksgiving " by Bent Creek  is tucked in other turkey planter. Lisa, a sweet stitchy friend, let me borrow the chart  a few years ago. It is always a joy to bring it out come turkey time.

Next to my vintage scales is  Cornucopia Stamp . The small Thankful board was a gift from sweet, Joan. Isn't it as cute as can be? It stays out year round somewhere in the kitchen.

The scales always stay on my hutch as well.

On top of it is a bowl gifted to me by my sweet sis. In the bowl is a vintage crotched pot holder with Turkey Creek Manor , GIVE THANKS and Priscilla Ewe nestled on top.

Well that's all for the turkey tour.  So do you think I did a good job of filling every inch of the shelves? Hee ! Hee! I sure tried. I am so grateful and feel very blessed by sweet friends and family as well as you. ❤🤗  Thank you!
Last year's hutch had even more handmade stitchy goodness . If you are interested in seeing any of the previous Thanksgiving hutch tours , just click on the links. You will see a lot of the same things, but just arranged different.

Come Friday, these old gobblers will be flying right back up into the attic and eeeeh! vintage Christmas will be coming out. I am waiting on pins and needles to put out more Santa mugs .

In the corner next to the hutch , I have been working on my little pencil retro tree. It is nestled in Christmas tins.

More Christmas advertising tins are surrounding it.
Alrighty, Sweet friends. I am off to see what I can get into. I hope you have a wonderful day and a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Melisa

Thank you does not even begin how grateful I am .

Hugs and Stitches!!!!🤗🧵❤

Dedicated to my dear sister, Amy. I love and miss you so much. You were and will always be a blessing in my life. Love you , Amo.

Do you know anything about this pattern? If says "Japan " on the back of it. I adore the scene and the strawberry border.
