Flurry & Flakes SAL Block 3 - SNOW RACE- Snowman Embroidery Freebie

Grab your scarf and mittens! Today we are off to the races!!!🛷☃⛄

Good morning ya'll and Happy Thursday. I really am grabbing my scarf and mittens. BRRRR! ❆❅ It has turned cold over the last week. This morning I will be bundling up as Mr. Pinker and I take the grandbabies to school.  Mr. .Pinker will warm up the car before we are on our way, but I will throw in a couple of small quilts for the youngins' to wrap around their legs on the way to school.

Any whoo! Today is Embroidery Thursday for me and I am sharing  Block # 3 in my Flurry & Flake SAL . Block 3  is called Snow Race.

Papa Flake is off to the races. Of course, Mama has packed Papa a quilt for the snowy day outside. Isn't he a handsome fellow?

I was inspired by this cute ceramic piece that my mom gifted me years ago. She bought it at the Save A Lot grocery store probably over 18 years ago.  Sometimes I put this little ceramic piece in my bathroom and put small soaps in it .

If you would like to embroider SNOW DAY , grab the image below.

Many of you know that I am no longer able to create clickable links to jpg downloads.  Here is a little note about that situation. . This explains about getting the charts or doodles as well.

NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues. . Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print.  I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save .  . Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas.

If you have missed BLOCK 1  WINTER WELCOME"   and BLOCK 2- Snow Day , click the colored text, and you will whisped back to the previous posts.

You ready for a quick stitch as well? WINTER is a  small stitch with just a few floss colors. I stitched mine using DMC 221, white, 930, 353, 301 & 3371.

WINTER is stitched on 14 count aida . I then  trimmed it to 5" wide with  the intention of  creating a  little pillow using strips of old shirtings. The strips of shirtings were cut about 1 1/2" x  3 1/2" and then  were pieced together. Because I forgot to add the trim that I was going to use, I ended up folding a piece of brown fabric horizontally  to hide my seam and nestled the fabric close to the snowman.

The little snowflake buttons help secure the brown strip of fabric  in place.  I bought the snowflake buttons last year from Amazon .  They measure 1. 8 cm and came in  a pack of 200; at the time they were inexpensive. Last night I looked to see if they were still available. The brand that I purchased was not,  but there were packs of 100 buttons that looked exactly the same for anywhere from $5. 49 on up.

Well, my dears. I am still working on deep cleaning the house before the holidays. So today I hope to move into the  hallway and down the stairs before the grandbabies come home. Then it will be time to clean the toy room after that. But you know I will have to take a break or two for another little snowman block is calling my name.
Have a beautiful day and..

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

  3. I really hate all the tech updates. Something is always bound to get screwed up. Your snowmen designs are super cute and I really like the winter cross-stitch, too. Have a good Thursday.

  14. I just LOVE your blog...it's the only one I follow faithfully!! I'm jumping in on the snowman embroidery, however, since it's been a verrrrry long time since I've embroidered, I decided to start with last year's blocks. They don't seem to have quite as much detail, so I can get warmed up! I'm also opting to do it in blue. Looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful Christmas posts. Thanks for all you do!!!
