Just in the Nick of Time

 Eeeh ! It's done! It's done! Right in time for Christmas!   

Good morning, y'all and Happy Saturday.  My Father Christmas quilt is completed just in the nick of time!!!

Last year I started working on these Father Christmas blocks which are from the book Fast, Fun , Fabulous Quilts. 

I bought this book at the thrift store, and it is choked full of country cuteness by so many well known designers.  If you would like to see a small flip through, click here. 

"Father Christmas" is a design by Connie Tesene and Mary Tendall of Country Threads.  They used the button hole stitch to applique their Santas , but I used needle turn applique because it was quicker for me. Lots of old shirts were cut up for this quilt. 

Father Christmas measures 29" x 43". Mine is hand appliqued and quilted. I used a diamond cross hatch quilt pattern in the blocks, a swirl quilt design in the sashing and a clam shell quilt design in the borders. 

The old Santas do not have their eyes yet, but they may come in time.  I may add some beaded berries to the wreath along with a bow.  But Yahoo! Or should I say Ho! Ho! Ho! It is finished. I think Santa will approve. What do you think? 

Also on the finishing bench is Shine on Harvest Moon.   It is an UFO from the 90's that I had planned to  make into a pillow back then. 

Hmmm, Now to find a small quilt to put in the hoop and just maybe I can knock out another finish before the year's end!!!

After the little one's tandem skydiving jump , Mr. Pinker and I will be busy in the kitchen preparing for tomorrow's Christmas Eve gathering. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.  Thank you for spending  a few moments of your day with me. It means the world to me.

Jingling the Day Away and A Christmas Freebie

Happy happy Sunday , sweet friends! 

 This morning I am jamming to the merry melodies of Burl Ives and Bing Crosby. My toes are tapping, and I plan to jingle about the house all through the day.  

Hmm now if I could just find an Elvis cd to rock out too.

 Anywhoo. How is your Sunday starting off ?I hope you are embracing the holiday spirit and  caroling away as well.   Oh ,  it's just a beautiful day isn't it?  In case you are wondering there is no spiced eggnog in my mug, but good old water . 😀😅

Ho! Ho! Ho! Father Christmas a design by Country Threads is in the hoop. 

 I pieced this quilt last year and finished the border last month. 

 Father Christmas  is from Fast Fun and Fabulous Quilts. I posted a flip through of some of the projects in the book last year. Click here if you are interested in seeing some of the cute country projects. I want to make them all. ❤🤗

It is Santa Sunday stitching time for me. So not only will I be quilting Father Christmas, but I will begin a new Santa cross stitch. 

Santa Tree Farm is my newest piece in the Prim Christmas Series. 

 Santa's Tree Farm uses 7 DMC floss colors including 221, 730, 407, 898, white, 3371, and 830. 

Previous Prim Christmas Santas include: Old World Santa , Tree Delivery , Christmas Day, and Santa Is On His Way

 My fingers were working up a storm yesterday trying to finish the embroider for A Bowl of Gingerbread.  I will be adding a border to it this week. 

In case you are interested the unfinished block size is 8 1/2" x 10 1/2".  I used the following DMC floss colors- 898, 498, 351, 3371, 895,  and 413. 

I shared A Bowl of Gingerbread as a freebie as well as my Gingerbread Saltbox yesterday. 

                                   

    

Now onto the plans for the week.

A Whole Lot of Rambling and A Christmas Freebie

Well a very Happy Slow Stitching Sunday to you, sweet friends. Please join me, I have poured myself a cup of cold chocolate milk  on this sultry sunny day, but I do have iced sweet tea for your sipping pleasure.  Yep it is supposed to get up to 80 today!  So that means the old air conditioner is back to humming for a few more days. I  had cut it off earlier this month , but with the warmer weather I needed the cooler air. Mr. Pinker however says it is freezing in this house; he is cold natured. ⛄❄

As soon as Little Mr. R, my oldest grandson, returns from his grand deer hunting trip , we will be off to visit family including the nephews.  In hand ,will be "Shine on Harvest Moon" . I hope to sit on Mom's  swing  , watch the boys play and quilt the afternoon away of course as  I  chat  away with whoever is out for a Sunday visit. I am sure there will breaks between quilting time for the boys do have pumpkins to carve. 

My fabric is tea/coffee dyed ,and I am ready to roll  all thanks to sweet PJ!   My  Slow Sunday cross stitch  project will be Hinzeit's November Point.  I just love  little monthly stitches. How about you? Thank you , dear PJ.  

It has been awhile since I have posed a To Do List so I am going to try to get back on track. 

 Do you find that you stay on task better if you write your goals down? Or do you fly by the seat of your pants like a wild child?

   I do both! 😂😜😁 Sometimes I  go strictly by my list ; sometimes I am all over the place but every now and then I do accomplish a little. 🤗

Now onto the plans for the week. 

 Hmm.... What Should I do This Week? 

🌞1. Add the borders to Father Christmas  which is a design by Country Threads. "

 "Father Christmas " is available  in the book Fast, Fun & Fabulous Quilts which was published by Rodale Press Inc. in 1996. 

The finished quilt will measure 29 x 43 inches. I am used needle turn applique for my Santas. 

🌞2.Work on Hinzeit's November Point. 

🌞3. Continue quilting on Butterfly Kisses border for at least 15 minutes a day . And yes, I did meet my goal this week of 15 minutes a day stitching. Eeeh!

🌞4. Work on November's Monthly Doodle

🌞5. Finish Block 1 in the Mr. Snow SAL starting on Thursday. Eeeh! Another Snowman embroidery SAL!

🌞6. Enjoy the little Spooks who drop by for Halloween! 

🌞7. Quilt on Shine on Harvest Moon. 

🌞8.Take down Halloween and begin putting up Thanksgiving decor.

Well that's enough to keep this old gal busy.   

QUESTION: Do you decorate for Thanksgiving or move straight on into Christmas ?

Since it is Santa Sunday for me, I thought I would share my latest ornament that took only a couple of hours to stitch. In fact I whipped this Ole' World Santa up in the time that it took to watch 2 episodes of The Love Boat. Do you remember that 1980's sitcom? 

 Anywhoo, Ole' World Santa is a simple prim stitch that only uses a few floss colors.  I wanted to finish this ornament with what I had on hand so I used some quilting fabric and yarn to finish my little ornament.  I think Santa and his sledding reindeer will look quite nice on my country Christmas tree. What do you think?

A little Sunday Halloween quilt stack on my newest addition to my child's chair collection.  Aaah swoon, a blue chair. 🤗 

A couple of weeks ago I saw a sweet orange child's chair at the thrift store. I have a cap on how much I will spend for a chair- $3.00.  The darling pumpkin orange chair was $4.00 so it did not go in my buggy. And I bet you can already guess I was kicking myself for leaving it behind.  When I went back a week later, of course it was gone.  Mrs. Cheapskate stuck to her guns, but boy, do I wish I hadn't😀. Lol. 

Oh gosh , please forgive me! I have been a chatterbox! I sure hope I did not talk your ears off.  Well I am off to see what I can get done before the youngin' arrives. I wish you  a Blessed day filled with joy , love,  happiness  and oh, yes some slow stitching time  too! 😀

Leftovers?

Are you eating leftovers? Good afternoon, ya'll . I think we will be eating for days with all of the wonderful leftovers from Christmas Eve and Christmas. 

How was your Christmas? Whether you celebrated quietly at home or with a large group, I hope your day was filled with happiness, love , and peace .  On Christmas Eve the family came over to my house where we had finger foods. 

The youngins' worked on snow globes and decorating ugly sweater cookies.  

 The boys must have been extra special for Santa was good to them . 

 

 My little tree was all decorated in campers. 

 The shutters next my little camper tree was filled with Christmas quilts. 

All of this will be changed over to snowmen very soon. But I have to admit, I am tempted to leave it out a little longer for I sure would love to be camping right now. Brrr, it would be cold though. 

Just in time for Christmas , I finished The Scarlett House's  2022 freebie called Santa's Helpers. Thank you , Joan for the sweet finishing pieces.  

I am going to try to stick to my rotation this new year. So I have a wee start on  a Merry Monday stitch. Merry Monday is  the day I will dedicate just a few minutes to stitch on a Christmas piece in order to move  the project along.  

A project waiting to be finished is sitting in my stitchy chair. It is Cheri Payne's Wednesday's  Best  called " Santa Claus"  . The quilting was completed before Christmas. The binding will be completed by the night's end. 

Eeeeh! Flurries are in the forecast!!! Will it happen? Probably not , but I have my snow boots and toboggan  ready just in case. In the meantime, I will stay inside glued to the window ,  dreaming of snowmen and snow cream.
