Ooey Gooey, Father Christmas and A Book!

Good morning, ya'll. Come on, grab a big spoon and dive into this oooey gooey banana pudding. It is sublime.  There is nothing wrong with  starting the day off with a dessert is there? 

Here is a plate of your own and a spot of tea. 

  

This is going to be the first year that I host Thanksgiving at my house. Last year, Mr. Pinker and I cooked, but we took it all over to my mom's . This year the family will come here . I have been brushing up on my recipes. This is one of the desserts that we are going to be serving.  I will give you the recipe as it was given to me, but let me tell you this makes a large amount so you may want to adjust it. 

Creamy Banana Pudding   

2  (8 oz) packages of cream cheese softened

1 ( 14 oz) can of  sweetened condensed milk

1 Large box of Banana Jello

1 Large box of Vanilla Jello

1 Tablespoon of vanilla extract

4 Cups of milk

5 bananas  sliced

package of vanilla wafers

1 large container of Cool Whip

DIRECTIONS

In large bowl beat cream cheese until smooth.  Beat in the condensed milk and then set aside. 

In another bowl whisk milk and pudding mixes.  Add to cream cheese mixture. 

Fold  in  3/4 of whipped cream 

Layer your serving dish with cookies,  bananas and cream cheese mixture . Repeat creating at least 3 layers. 

Top with remainder of whipped cream . 

Chill overnight. 

Before serving add crushed vanilla wafers over the top before serving. 

 Yum Yum! My youngest grandbaby just gobbles this up. Hubby took it to a work gathering and all of his coworkers enjoyed it. They gave it a 2 thumbs up. 👍👍😀🥣 In fact, hubby came home with an empty dish. 

Now on to quilting. Woo Hoo!   I mean HO ! HO ! HO!🎅 I  began a new quilt this week. 

The other day I went to the Goodwill and found this book called Fast , Fun & Fabulous Quilts. 

Oh  my, it definitely lives up to its name- it is choked full of fabulous quilts  and I want to make them all!!!  

Right now I am working on Father Christmas by Connie Tesene and Mary Tendall of Country Threads. 

 I decided to needle turn my applique pieces so Father Christmas may look a tad different, but he is so much fun to work on.  

I am using old shirts to create my Father Christmas. 

  

Fast , Fun & Fabulous Quilts was published in 1996 and has 30 projects within its 246 pages.  Some of the designers featured in the book are Red  Wagon, Churn Dash Designs, Wild Goose Chase, Little Quilts, Country Threads, Pieces From my Heart, Debbie Mumm,   and many more.  Here are some of the fabulous projects.  

Isn't this one a cutie patootie? You could use your child's or grandchild's handprint! 

Aren't these quilts just marvelous? Did you see any that caught your eye?  The Little Quilts Scottie Quilt is calling  to me and will be a project in the near future. 

That's my Friday ramblings.  I will continue pouring through my recipes and preparing for the big day . Churn Butter Churn

Another beautiful Friday has rolled around. Welcome, sweet friends. 

"Churn butter churn! Come butter come! 

Peter stands at the gait

I guess I am on a Churn Dash kick right now. Well, I will admit it is one of my favorite blocks along with the simple nine patch and four patch. 

                         

I have been churning out little large Churn Dashes with my Summer Days Quilt and small churn dash blocks for a doll quilt. 

I love Little Quilts , and I became quite smitten with the the Antique Churn Dash quilt in the Patriotic Little Quilts book. 

Used up loads of little patrioitic scraps. Sew much sweetness and sew much fun. Now it time to quilt this little baby and have it ready for the patriotic season.

Quilt Happenings and a Thrifty Find

Happy Saturday, friends. Come on in for a little quilt update. Well let's start outside on this chilly day . I am leaping with joy with this thrifty find that I found at a thrift shop in Georgia this past week. It is a brown, tan and peach full size quilt, and it is hand quilted. Woo Hoo! I happy danced all through the store when I spotted this beauty.  The only thing is that it needs some repair along the binding, but that will be no problem whatsoever. I thought it would be perfect to display in the fall. 

And while we our out in the yard, check this out. Signs of spring with the buttercups fixing to bloom.  If it is not going to snow, then I say bring on spring. How about you? 

To be honest very little has gone on in respect to quilting or cross stitching this week with a little bit of daily life getting in the way, but I did work on my chicken quilt. 

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been working on these nine patch blocks and appliqueing chickens. 

The last chicken block was appliqued Friday. Though the gals still do not have eyes or wings, I have began playing with a layout. I am going for a certain size because it is going to go in the kitchen by the hoosier cabinet.  Hopefully, the constructing will begin today. 

While rummaging around in the Quilt Nest for some yellow fabric, I found this little quilt top made of red and yellow nine patches. I probably began this about 10 years ago, but for some reason put it away. I had began to applique' yellow flowers in the corners. I think I am going to work on this for the rest of February as I join Angela's link at So Scrappy. I need to add a center to the flowers (if I keep them ) and then decide from there. 

First , it needs a good pressing though. 

Wouldn't it look so cute displayed in my little yellow child's chair with Andy?

This week I have been all into this book called Quick Country Quilting by Debbie Mumm. I have always loved Debbie Mumm and was thrilled when I found this book at the Goodwill. It was published in 1992 by Rodale Press and contains 80 sweet country projects with easy to follow directions and applique templates. 

This is the quilt that has my heart a thumping ; it is called "Elsie & Co." and is the sweetest cow quilt.  I can picture this in my kitchen as well. How stinking CUTE!!!

And what a sweet patriotic heart quilt.

There are so many projects  with a wide variety of themes from geese to cats, to apples and even holiday quilts. 

This little quilt is called Checkerboard Crossing. This quilt was another reason I bought the book. I see a house quilt in my future. 

And lol I need a cat quilt too. I tell you what I really need is more hours in the day. There is so much I want to do. Wheww!

Well if I want all of these quilts, I am going to have to put a fire under my heels and get to work and hopefully next week I will have a little more progress. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. You always make me smile and bring joy to my heart.

Playing with Nine Patches

  Happy Sunday, dear friends. My mind has been whirling and twirling with quilts .

This  colorful little quilt stack  got me in the mood to play with color. 

I pulled out a basket of yardage for a small quilt that is calling for me. 

I began cutting strips. 

Laid out some blocks. The squares were 2 /12"  and the strips 2 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Soon I had these blocks all stitched. I had a fabulous piecing day and most of the seams met. 

Seven blocks were created . They will now be paired with some appliqued blocks. Next up to prep those blocks. That will be happening this week. 

I loved the color in these blocks so I went back to the basket and started to cut more squares for another quilt .Hope to share that soon. 

I have been participating in Angela's of So Scrappy Pink Saturday link. Each week I have been working on a little pink project. These week  I created 2 log cabin blocks from scraps. 

Hmm. I do not know what I will do with them. I think I need more. 

The quilt book that I am all into this week is Patchwork & Quilting- Fabulous Country Style Quilts which was published in 1999 by Craftworld Books. There are several quilts that I am drawn to including the strawberry quilt on the cover. 

 This book has 20 projects and includes several pages of lovely quilting vignettes.

This heart quilt would be perfect for Valentine's. 

And I am really loving this chicken quilt. I can imagine it in my kitchen above my country bench. 

This is the quilt that usually hangs over the bench.  Love my country clutter. Lol

Those are my quilt ventures for the week. I do not feel like I was very productive, but I think this upcoming week is going to be a good one. Have a scraptastic week and Happy Quilting, ya'll.
