Hee! Hee! is this going to be humming in your head all day long? It is mine. What a great song from the 70's Anywhoo... Love is really in the air. 

Nah, Not with Rodster and Edna, though they look awful cozy.  Isn't this a cute photo? 

Rodster  is in love with several gals. And not only is he in love , but he is a Papa. 

There is Ginger and her babe. Cute! 

This is the newest babe. 

Blackie with her babe. She is very protective. 

  And there is Bev and look who is behind her, Baby Rodster.

Oh my ! Look at Baby Rodster's adorable, precious  face! I am in love! ❤❤❤🐄🐮

 How stinking cute! Is he like his dad or what ? 

Anyway Love is in the air - at least on the farm!

Aaah that reminds me ! It is Farm Friday. and I have a stitch to share with you . It is another Down on the Farm Stamp. 

This week's stamp is called The Heifers.

Two happy Heifers and a babe. Do you recognize the heifers? It is Bev and Blackie! Two of my favorites on the farm.

My Down on the Farm stamps are going to be really simple stitches which can be finished in 2 shakes of a lamb's tail I mean calves's tail.

I am finishing mine into small pin pillows to be placed in a dough bowl or tucked anywhere. I tea dyed a bit of chenille yarn that I purchased at Walmart. I then twisted 2 strands and whipped stitched them along the seam. Easy Peasy. If you are interested in seeing how I finish my pin pillows with trim, just check out my Pin Pillow Tutorial post.

I will be sharing the Down on the Farm stamps ever so often on Fridays- just when I get the inspiration. These stitches are about life on the family farm.

This handsome fellow may look gruff, but he is as gentle as a lamb.  His name is Big Bad Brad. 

Brad and the other gals are down in the bottoms or the lower fields. So I am not sure if I will see them.

Here A Chick

Here a chick ! There a chick! Everywhere a chick, chick! 

Happy Happy Friday y'all. It is another beautiful day and today I am working on chickens. Now tell me can one have too  many chickens?  I think not!   

I finished appliqueing my wonky hens and baskets in the Spring while I was in camping in  Mississippi and Texas. They are appliqued on a buttercream  cotton.

Lots of 2 1/2" squares are cut and ready to be pieced. 

 I will be making  6 1/2" ( unfinished) nine patches to accompany these blocks. 

Right now I have 24 hens and baskets. I am not sure where this is going - I guess you could say I am playing in the hen house right now.

My Here A Chick blocks are stored in this Dollar Tree container that I found in the kitchen  section. 

I drew out a little chicken label to remind me what is stored in the box. Perhaps the chicken on the label will be a future quilt-  maybe.

 

Oh gosh lookie there! , How did Edna get into this post? 

"Edna, this post is about chickens!" I think I heard her neigh that she would like a quilt about her- she is such a diva! "We shall see, Edna!  We shall  see." 

 Isn't she a doll?  It is hard for me to resist that face! 

Well I am off and running ! Have a sun shiny day and ...

Gardening, Stitching and a Patriotic Freebie

Is this the last  Slow Stitching Sunday in June? By golly, I do believe it is ! Where has the month gone? 

Welcome ya'll and Happy Sunday!

Many of ya'll know that I started canning this week. Right now it is pickles . So the official tally for the week  is 9 jars of Bread and Butter, 5  jars of Dill Spears , and 4  jars of squash pickles. I am working on small batches right now, but it will add up. 

The garden has certainly been keeping me busy. The other day my oldest grandbaby inspected the  maters to see if there were any bugs and such. 

We also took off suckers and planted some of them. Soon we will be swimming in tomatoes. 😁🍅🍅🍅🍅

A little canning jar design for you. It's a choose your own colors chart. I plan to work on it today.

OOPS- CORRECTION: I made a mistake with the jar lid symbol. It is NOT the " #" symbol nor is it the same color as the flag pole . It is the symbol "T". I used a gray color. Please choose which every floss colors that suit your fancy. I am so sorry for the mistake. 

UPDATE: I finished the Mini Patriotic Mason Jar along with Pop Goes the Fireworks Stamp. They just need to be FFOd. - July  1st.

Of course summer time activities have cut into my stitching and quilting time. But I have accomplished a few things. 

I finished the embroidery work on "When Life Gives You Lemons". I think I will create another block to go with it soon. 

Last night I finished the nine patches and rail fence blocks for the  Summer Blues Quilt Archaeology  design by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. It is a freebie only through today  Sunday June 25th.  

Joy of Days Filled with Joy has been hosting a seasonal embroidery SAL for the past year. I  have embroidered each and every one.😀🤗

 On Friday, she shared the 5th embroidery motif in the Spring SAL. 

So today my nimble fingers will be enjoying working on  this embroidery. And Eeeeh! Joy will be sharing a Summer SAL soon.  Thank you , Joy.

The other night the youngins enjoyed running about the yard in search of lightning bugs. Do you remember doing that? They had such a good time. Of course they released them once they had a small jar full. Aaah Summer time pleasures. 

Nine Patch Saturday

Good morning, ya'll. Last week , Kathy of Kathy's Quilts , shared her start on Primitive Gatherings "Oh Say Can You Sew" Mystery Quilt. Seeing how much fun she was having , I had to join in. If you have not seen this, Kathy provides a link to Clue 1 , but you better hurry because  today is the last day.  Each month of the mystery a clue will be given the 1st Monday of the month so Clue 2 will be given Monday May 2nd .  You can also watch Lisa Bongean's Youtube channel , Stitch with Lisa Bongean in which she explains all about it and where you will also find a link to Clue #1. 

Yesterday , I began  piecing strips for my nine patches. 

 Soon I had 31 cute teeny nine patches. 

Clue 2 will be using reds and whites. Eeeh! 

April came and went and I only got in a few pink blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

 Last night , I did get this block pieced.  It measures 16 1/2" unfinished. 

 

Boy, do these need to be pressed . 

Two wee four patches to add to a future quilt. 

I recently had a request to see this little cross stitch.  In a previous post, you may have seen a tad of it. I stitched this piece called Amy Lou the Bunny Keeper last year . 

At the time I was celebrating , my sister's love for animals. Little did I know that we would only have her for a few months longer.  

Many of ya'll know that a lot of my stitches are about my family, but this was the first one that I have done of a living family member at the time. I have vowed that I will never stitch a piece about a living person again. I guess that is the superstitious nature in me.  I will probably share this one in the future, but I will have to wait until my heart finds a bit more peace and my sweet sister whispers in my ear to do so.
