A Foyer Filled with Crows!

 Crows, Crows and More Crows!

Welcome, Sweet friends and Happy, happy Thursday! 

Do you think you are up for another country clutter tour today? 

Aaaw come on. It may make your head swim and your eyes cross . LOL, but I promise you there is a whole lot to see.🥴🤪🤓 

Hmmm... How much can I cram into a small space? Well I whole lot Hee! Hee! 

Let's go check out the thrifty shelf dressed in its "Autumn Glory!"

Lots of stitching and vintage items on the old shelf.

A whole lot of crows came to roost for the fall season in my little foyer including the darling crow stitch. Hmmm... Think! Think! Think! 🤔 Here we go again! My mind escapes me. Do you know what this stitch is called and who is the designer?

Usually I hang Blackbird Designs freebie called the "First Offering" in the foyer, but not this year.

My little thirfted bookcase was filled to the brim with my old brown pottery and other treasures.

There are bowls layered in bowls with little stitches including an old acorn stitch and Pumpkin Crow .

There are checkerboards, stacks of plates and brown pitchers.

The little checkeboard pumpkin was painted years ago using a thin wooden pumpkin form found at the Dollar Tree. The little Harvest Crow was a freebie from 2009 that I stitched years ago from Pinterest. You can see the chart on Robby's blog called Cash Strapped Crafting.

More crocks and bean pots with little doilies and rolled quilts.

Salt and Pepper shakers, old utensils and a vintage tin completes the fall look.

The darling Old Dutch Cleanser tin was a gift from sweet Gail. Swoon. I love it! Thank you, Gail. 😘🤗

Oh, yes the shelf is filled to the brim! Can I add one more thing? Hmmm.... I am not sure. 😁

A little pumpkin and doily sits perfectly for the harvest season on an old potato masher.

In the pitcher is Heart in Hands' "Harvest Alphabet". I think that is what it called. Oh gosh, my mind is failing me again.

In the teeny cedar chest is a freebie called "Just A Little Autumn" from San- Man Originals.

Below the cake stand is the "Sunflower 1869 Crock". I don't believe I have shared it yet.

More crows, pumpkins and gourds on Granny's old drawer that is used as a shelf.

Little Bits Pumpkin Haul

Amber bottles are a favorite to display during fall season.

Harvest Home was finished on a thrifted tin plaque.

The warm glows of orange , yellow and browns warms my heart for the fall season.

Most of the items have been collected or crafted over the years. Lots of memories are displayed on those old bookcase.

So that is my fall shelf in a nutshell.

Overflowing, yes! But I sure am happy with it!

Mr. Pinker and I have been thrifting as we travel. I picked up a small Pyrex bowl along with some doilies .

Are you familiar with this Pyrex pattern? The pretty peachy pink will be perfect for spring decorating to add to my vintage Christmas decor. For a $1.99, I couldn't leave this sweet bowl behind.

The doilies match the bowl perfectly and were just fifty cents. Have I told you , I have an addiction to doilies? LOL

 

The Changing of the Quilts- Autumn Crows

 It's time to change the quilts! 🍂🍂🍂

It's one of my favorite things today as the seasons change.

First, I need to say good bye to the Bees and Sunflowers Quilt Display.

Bye Bye Bees! Time to Buzz! 🐝🐝

And here comes the crows!

CAW! CAW!

First, I decorated my peg shelf on the door with a little white pumpkin quilt. I appliqued it about 20 years ago. The little sign is from the Dollar Tree.

In my small foyer are three vintage thrifted house shutters that I love to decorate with quilts. I simply drape them over the shutters and Wahlah! A simple display.

I layered "quilt upon quilts" for this year's fall quilt display.

On the first shutter is "Four and Twenty Blackbird" which was also displayed in the bee display. There are 24 crows on this quilt. Some are applied but some are quilted.

Crows and Gourds is displayed on the 2nd shutter. It is another older appliqued quilt. I used lots of clothing in this piece including shorts from my college days, pants from my daughter and a shirt from Mr. Pinker. Many fond memories are stitched in this colorful quilt.

The crows and gourds are all tucked into a plaid fabric appliqued bowl.

Front and center on the 3rd shutter is "The Fall Scarecrow" which was a free doodle that I found at Prim Mart  in 2020. I embroidered it on a scrap of fabric from an old sheet . Some of the border fabric is from an old shirt. Waste not want not. Right?

The little Pumpkins sign was painted years ago from leftover woods craps from Mr. Pinker's workshop

Behind the "Fall Scarecrow" is a quilt that I pieced in 2020 called "Snowball Autumn".

I am so sorry for the poor lighting in this photo. It doesn't do the quilt justice.

I fell in love with the white fabric as soon as I saw it.

The next year my sweet sis gifted me a pumpkin she bought at a yard sale made of the same fabric. Bless her sweet heart. I miss her so! ❤

The darling orange basket was a gift from dear Shelly years ago. I adore it. Thank you , Shelly. ❤😘

Homestead was a little appliqued quilt that I pieced years and years ago. It was a fun use of scraps.

That's the first round of the fall quilts on display!

These quilts may be changed out before the end of the season; I am always tweaking displays.

Oh before you go, let me show you my seasonal tree all dressed up in crows and sunflowers. I promise you there is a tree in there. Hee! Hee! I like my trees full.

Anywhooo... it is tucked into an old enamelware bucket and surrounded by an old pitcher, a jar of mini pumpkins and a big fat painted fabric pumpkin and scarecrow.

So tell me have you already started "Decking the halls" for FALL?

Buzzin' Bees in the Foyer

 Since the quilts were changed. It was time to change the country clutter on the shelf in the small foyer. 

I posted a closer look at the late summer quilts yesterday in my Changing of the Quilts.

But first I tackled the year round tree which is nestled in an old enamelware pot.  Sunflowers and floral pics were gingerly tucked in the tree for the summer season. 

  Sunflowers  which I finished on a Dollar Tree wooden arrow serves as a sunny tree topper. 

The little curly-q pics were a gift from dear Sonja. Thank you, dear.😘 ❤

Above the tree, I shooed away the Mr. and Mrs. Goose stitch  which had hung all summer long. It was a thrifty find from last year.  Do you know who was the designer?  

HONK ! HONK!🪿🪿 I just love that geese are back in style. I am sure this is from the 1980's-90's . 

 Goode Huswife's "Ida Mae Crow" flew into it's place . Isn't she the sweetest? She is finished on a wooden plaque. 

The vintage shelf is filled to the brim with vintage items and  clutter galore!  

Old green enamelware with a sweet stitch from  Notforgotten Farm . It is a freebie called June .

Jars of honey and old pitchers. 

Of course there are crocheted pieces tucked in crocks with stitched pieces gingerly displayed on top.

There are stacks of brown, green and yellow bowls. 

Old utensils and More stitched pieces. 

Plates, bowls, pitchers and stitching galore! 

 Love Bees" by Hinzeit , "Bee" a freebie from From the Heart Needleart  and  my  Summer Ewe freebie shared years ago. 

Corny little salt and pepper shakers nestled into vintage green pieces of pottery make me smile. 

The dough bowl is filled with more kitchen utensils and stitched pieces including....

Queen Bee , a Little House Needleworks design, and  "The Bee Happy, Bee Kind" , an old Prairie Grove Peddler freebie which I can no longer locate on their website. 

And I must not forget to add a advertising tin. 

There are even a few chickens. 

A chicken in a crock pitcher.  Cluck! Cluck! 

Yep, every nook and cranny was filled. 

Soon the bees will buzz away and crows will roost in their  place along with roly poly pumpkins.
