A Thankful Thanksgiving Hutch Tour

Good morning, Sunshine and Welcome. I am dreaming of roasted turkey, Mom's delicious Southern dressing, potato salad and all of the fixins'!

I have started to leaf through my cookbooks searching for recipes for the holiday season.

This year Mr. Pinker and I plan to host the Thanksgiving celebration here at the house. For the last few years , we have been cooking a number of dishes and taking them over to Mom's as that is where most of the family gathers for the  major holidays. Well this year, Mom , Dad and the rest of the family will take a short jaunt down the road to my house.

So I do have a lot of planning to do. Turkey Time will be here soon! Gobble ! Gobble!

Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler , Blessed and  TURKEY TIME is an Erica Michaels freebie which was posted on her Facebook on November 13, 2018 .

Meanwhile I have been decorating the house for the grand occasion.

First up -  the teeny wooden hutch Mr. Pinker constructed decades ago.  It is all "Turkey-fied" ! Hee! Hee!

It is filled to the  hilt with all things Thanksgiving related.

There are gravy boats and...

Lots of pretty thrifted plates in autumnal colors.

There are turkeys... AND

Primitive Hare's freebie "Give Thanks"

TURKEYS!...

AND EVEN MORE TURKEYS!

And I must not forget the Pilgrims.

Be Ye Thankful

Nestled here and there are sweet reminders of family and friends. Indeed, I feel very blessed. 💛❤🤗

I am looking forward  to the hustle and bustle of the next few weeks as we prepare for the holiday.

There are lists to be made and groceries to be bought.
And I do have to rummage through my plates, platters and bowls as well. Oh my! Hustle and Bustle!

Old Fashioned Corn Pudding
INGREDIENTS:
SERVINGS:  4-6
3 eggs , beaten
2 Tablespoons of honey
1 cup of milk
1 1/2 Tablespoons of flour
1 can of cream style corn
2 Tablespoons of melted butter
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Dash of allspice

DIRECTIONS:
Combine honey and milk; add gradually to the flour , stirring until smooth. Add eggs, corn, butter and salt. Mix well. Turn into greased 1  quart baking dish. Sprinkle with allspice. Place baking dish in a pan of hot water. Bake in preheated oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour 45 minutes or until the custard is set.

Will you be cooking for Thanksgiving?  What yummies are your favorites for the holiday season?

I  guess I best get back to searching through my recipes. I am so very grateful for the sweet visit.

Have a fabulous day and enjoy the hustle and bustle !

As Always...

Missing Inaction and a Halloween Hutch Tour

Gosh, I have been missing in action! Or should I say inaction, because a lot has NOT been done in the last few days. In fact , it has been well over a week since I posted. Sigh. Well, my feet have been dragging and I have been moving like sloth for I have been under the weather . Nothing serious mind you, but after months of feeling on the poor side , I  have felt drained . Last night was the first time I got on the computer in days. 😲

Hocus Pocus
Before my set back I had high hopes of things I wanted to post, but alas not much has been accomplished in the stitching and quilting front.

But WAIT! I do have some Halloween Country Clutter to show you .

So if you so dare, let's go see what I conjured up for this year's Halloween hutch display. Be forewarned:  Cackle ! Cackle !  I am not a minimalist, and I am the "more the merrier mentality"  when it comes to decorating! It's just my style. 😁🤪

The top of my hutch always remains the same with just a few tins. I did add a couple of orange advertising tins.

Then the youngest grandson , Mr. F. had an idea.

"Add the Halloween Brownie Little Debbie box, to your display ? " he said with a smile.

"What a brilliant idea!" I  replied.

And so I did! Right on top of the Coca Cola crates .  "PERFECTION! " I said with a grin giving him a big hug.

A little four patch quilt is draped over the crates for the fall season.

Most of the shelves were packed with  thrifted Jack-o-lanterns and lots of good ole' fashion Halloween junk

As well as little stitcheries including : Big Jack and Little Jaxs, and Little Eeek and Jack Stamp.

And I must not forget one of my favorites - " Harvest Blessings" by Joyce Reed . It  can be found in the 2019 Fall issue of "Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine".  I finished it on an old clock base.

There are orange and white plates and little pumpkins.

Hanging off the side of the hutch is Pumpkin Picker finished on an old wooden kitchen plaque.

Ole' Jack , the painted gourd, is always a favorite to display each year.  His toothy grin makes me happy.  The little cat was a Dollar Tree find.

That feisty Dollar Tree feline fits perfectly with my stitch called "Treat Delivery" which I haven't posted yet. It is nestled in a black thrifted frame that is spooktacular.

Halloween stitching galore is layered upon layered on the 2nd shelf.  Including:

Pumpkin Head a freebie from Donna at By the Bay Needleart which she posted on her blog on Oct . 17, 2014

"Surrender the Treats "  which was a freebie from Hands on Design(. Information on  it can be found on Cathy's Instagram.) , and An Autumn's Day a fun little house stitch that I shared a couple of years ago.

Wild Black Cats took over the bottom shelf.  I adore Walmart's Black Cat and Jack Cookie Jar. Meow!  Boo Hoo but no cookies in the cookie jar. 😀 Oh well, maybe next year! 🤷

The large resin cats are Wally World pieces as well.

But what about the stitching? Well there is  Happy Cat which was finished on a Dollar Tree paper mache box, and there is Little Black Cat Stamp as well as "Jolly Jacks" from All Through the Night.

So what do ya' think? Did I conjure up a good brewing of Halloween cuteness? It sure made me one happy witch to see the cats and Jacks smiling back at me while working in the kitchen.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to visit me . You always brighten my day when you drop by. If you are in the neighborhood in the morning, stop by, I will share one more Halloween freebie for the holiday season. It will be a nice one to stitch up for maybe next year.

I look forward to catching up with all of the happenings . Please forgive me if it takes a spell to catch up.

As Always...

Pumpkins, Pumpkins and More Pumpkins Hutch Tour

It's time to change the hutch decor! In 2 shakes of a lamb's tail I had dismantled my "sunflower decor" and added my orange Dollar Tree plates to the small wooden hutch , Mr. Pinker created nigh 20+ years ago. Little doilies and Christmas lights were added for a bit of sparkle.

With a hop , skip and a jump, I rushed out to the "she shed" to fetch my pumpkin cookie jar and the rest of the "pumpkin themed serviceware" rolled out of the attic. The "bones" were in place for my Pumpkin themed hutch . Now to get down to the nitty , I thought. Pouring in the clutter. Hee! Hee!

The plates and large pieces are out . It is time to add in the decorations to the hutch.

On the top of the hutch where the tins and the Coca Cola crates stay year round, I just added an Autumn four patch quilt and a couple tins in the Autumn colors. "What's in the tins? " - That is where I store some small  kitchen Christmas decor.  Christmas plates and mugs are stored in the bottom of the hutch.

A little Four Patch quilt was carefully draped over the Coca Cola crates .

Now let's work on the first shelf. Anything orange in color was fair game to be put on the hutch including old pitchers and a tall rooster.

My only new addition was the pumpkin butter dish.

Fall 1869 Crock  is a fall favorite. I have stitched a whole series of "crock " themed pieces over the years and I have a few more in mind.

Do you have any suggestions for a crock stitch?

The sweet velvet pumpkin was a gift from dear Patricia . Thank you , dear friend. 🤗

The middle shelf was filled with more pumpkins.

Pumpkin themed bowls cups and a cookie jar fill the 2nd shelf along with some stitching.

I store the little pumpkin cups in the big pumpkin cookie jar when  I put these items away for storage.

In the vintage bowl, I stacked plates, pumpkin cups and a biscuit cutter. In the background is my Autumn Jar- from the Mason Jar Series.

A Pumpkin or Two was a quick stitch that I shared a year or so ago.

The little pumpkin gravy bowl was filled with a stitch called Pumpkins and behind it is a wool applique that I worked on about 20 years ago.

Can you tell that I love pumpkins and crows? LOL

My Autumn Pumpkin Wool Applique was created from pieces of thrifted wool clothing and after completion it was   just popped into a thrifted frame. Wahlah!

The bottom shelf was filled with a modge podge  of country clutter. Wheew ! Where do I start? There are stacks of little plates, mom's pumpkin pie plate  and a mason jar filled with  pears.

I store small fall themed items in the pie dish when not in use.

Oh and there is stitching  and other crafty pieces too . Like...

Little Prim Punkin  a small yarn punched piece that I shared last year. I just used thrifted yarns and whipped this prim punkin up for the fall season.

Little Prim Punkin was yarn punched using thrifted wool yarns. A very easy peasy craft and quick too .

Fall Y'all  and  the Pumpkin Pie Stamp are nestled among jello molds, salt and pepper shakers and small plates.

The painted wooden spoon and salt and pepper shakers were gifts from my sweet sis.

And I must not forget the Mini Pumpkin Sampler .

Underneath the Mini Pumpkin Sampler, you may have spotted a little quilt

Mom's Pumpkin Pie was created in the 90's .   My how my applique has come along since then. 😀😄

Lots of teeny wonky scraps were sewn up and a big pumpkin pie was appliqued over the squares.

Of course I had to include Mom's Pumpkin Pie recipe at the time.

That's my fall Hutch in a Pumpkin Shell!  A lot to see . Right? Well, these roly poly's are coming down today! 🎃

There are black cats, ghosts and ghouls that are grumbling in the attic ready to take their place.
Sooo... I will be trying to wrangle them into place. Perhaps if I get it done, I will show you next week where the cute jacks and cats landed.

Hmmm... Now where do I store all of this clutter when it is time to put it away? Well let me show you .

In the toy room is a gigantic armoire which holds a lot of stuff including the following themed items : sunflowers, Halloween , Fall , Thanksgiving and Patriotic.
This armoire holds patriotic in the bottom drawer and in the basket on the shelf. Fall and Halloween is in the large section of the  armoire

In the armoire are stacks upon stacks of small shoe box totes that are labeled. Here I have pulled out my Fall Salt and pepper shakers. They are wrapped and tightly  packed.

Fall Salt and Pepper shakers are stored in shoe boxes.

My Pumpkin themed pie dishes , bowls and such are stored in the attic.
I wrap all of my breakables with newspaper or plastic wrap that I buy at Harbor Freight on a spool. This gives the pieces a little protection from any chips.

I wrap all of my breakables in plastic wrap for protection.

Do you see the yellow bowl in the background? It sits high on the counter. In it are  some of my salt and pepper shakers that rotate in and out of the seasons.  I use every nook and cranny to store my clutter. Hee! Hee!

Now as far as my stitching storage- well I haven't perfected that yet. I did buy another armoire a while back,  so I am aiming to organize and store some in there, but that story is for another day. 😏😊

Gosh, I guess I have rambled long enough. I do hear the moans and groans of my Halloween decor calling so I best get to work.

So tell me . Do you have a special place that you like to decorate seasonally?

As Always...
