Buzzin' Bees in the Foyer

 Since the quilts were changed. It was time to change the country clutter on the shelf in the small foyer. 

I posted a closer look at the late summer quilts yesterday in my Changing of the Quilts.

But first I tackled the year round tree which is nestled in an old enamelware pot.  Sunflowers and floral pics were gingerly tucked in the tree for the summer season. 

  Sunflowers  which I finished on a Dollar Tree wooden arrow serves as a sunny tree topper. 

The little curly-q pics were a gift from dear Sonja. Thank you, dear.😘 ❤

Above the tree, I shooed away the Mr. and Mrs. Goose stitch  which had hung all summer long. It was a thrifty find from last year.  Do you know who was the designer?  

HONK ! HONK!🪿🪿 I just love that geese are back in style. I am sure this is from the 1980's-90's . 

 Goode Huswife's "Ida Mae Crow" flew into it's place . Isn't she the sweetest? She is finished on a wooden plaque. 

The vintage shelf is filled to the brim with vintage items and  clutter galore!  

Old green enamelware with a sweet stitch from  Notforgotten Farm . It is a freebie called June .

Jars of honey and old pitchers. 

Of course there are crocheted pieces tucked in crocks with stitched pieces gingerly displayed on top.

There are stacks of brown, green and yellow bowls. 

Old utensils and More stitched pieces. 

Plates, bowls, pitchers and stitching galore! 

 Love Bees" by Hinzeit , "Bee" a freebie from From the Heart Needleart  and  my  Summer Ewe freebie shared years ago. 

Corny little salt and pepper shakers nestled into vintage green pieces of pottery make me smile. 

The dough bowl is filled with more kitchen utensils and stitched pieces including....

Queen Bee , a Little House Needleworks design, and  "The Bee Happy, Bee Kind" , an old Prairie Grove Peddler freebie which I can no longer locate on their website. 

And I must not forget to add a advertising tin. 

There are even a few chickens. 

A chicken in a crock pitcher.  Cluck! Cluck! 

Yep, every nook and cranny was filled. 

Soon the bees will buzz away and crows will roost in their  place along with roly poly pumpkins.

Goodbye Easter Quilts , Hello Spring Quilts

 It is time to change out the quilts. 

I am scooping up all of the bunnies and Easter decor and changing things out.  Hippety Hop! Hippety Hop! Off to the totes the bunnies go!     

 

For early Spring, I had a few quilts hanging on vintage shutters in the small foyer. 

Front and center  was my Easter quilt . Eeeh ! This was it's first year on display.

 This is one quilt that I thought I would never finish, but by golly, last year I "quilted across the finishing line". I was happier that an Easter rabbit with a basket full of eggs! 

This quilt is made up of 2" squares. 

The Easter quilt was quilted with the Baptist Fan pattern. 

 

Another quilt that I had on display was "Garden Blooms" which is a design from Piece o' Cake. It originally was published in 2008 in the "American Patchwork & Quilting" magazine. Becky Goldsmith still has it for sale as a downloadable in her shop. 

The 3rd quilt is a top that I will show in the near future. It is made from reproduction Depression Era fabrics. 

So what am I changing over to next? 

Eeeeh! STRAWBERRIES!

It is Strawberry Season here in my neck of the woods. Many of you know that I have a strong affection for anything "strawberry related" since my family owned a " U-Pick / We Pick Strawberry Farm" years ago.

The foyer is filled with strawberries galore. 

Of course, I started decorating by draping quilts over my 3 vintage shutters. 

First quilt- Scrapberries

I shared the Scrapberries block in May of 2024. 

My Berry Season mini quilt is the 2nd quilt on display. I shared  the Berry Season Doodles  a few years ago.  I stitched the little berry designs in DMC 498. I think it is berry cute- well at least in my eyes. 

 

Because I am decorating the foyer in reds and yellows, I pulled out my Spring Chicks Quilt  which I completed in March of 2021.  

Those little chicks always make me smile. Plus they remind me of how we used to buy the oldest grandson chickens every year. He loves  chickens.  I may have told you that Mr. Pinker nicknamed our grandson "Rooster" when he was a babe. LOL.

 

 The 1869 Spring Chick Crock was inspired by the Spring Chick quilt. Like I said I do love chickens.  🐓🐓🐓

In the coming days, I will share more photos of the strawberry decor and of course stitching and quilt pieces that I am putting on display.   I don't know if you are like me , but not only do I love to see quilting and stitching, but I LOVE seeing how they are used and displayed. Seeing displays give me ideas and I need all of the help I can get. Hee! Hee!

Stitches, Quilts and Shamrocks- Foyer Decor

A lovely Tuesday to you!  

The last time I left off on my country clutter post , I was showing you the quilts in the small foyer/ hallway. I had pulled out 3 "springy" quilts to display on the old thrifted shutters. 

Since I was on a roll, I went back to the storage room and pulled out more goodies to decorate with. I was thinking " greens" and "St . Patrick's Day " as the theme. 

 It did not take long to fill the shelves to the brim with spring goodness with sprinkles of vintage pieces, baskets , doilies and wee quilts. 

Lots of country clutter on the old thrifted shelf. 

Some of the things on the top shelf stay out year round.  The riser is an old shelf from one of my Granny's dresser - a sweet reminder of days long ago.  

On the top of the drawer is a freebie from Notforgotten Farms called "Shamrock Basket" .  "Lucky" is a design from Trail Creek Farms.   I simply tucked it into some green enamelware bowls. 

The wool shamrock mug rug was a free design from Shabby Fabrics but I do believe it costs now. ( I am not for sure on that) .

 Tucked in the basket is my Shamrock Mini Sampler

 Lucky Shamrocks is a St. Patty's favorite. It  is a freebie from Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives. 

The darling 9 clover  stitch is a free design from Vickie at A Stitcher's Story blogspot.

I tucked a little stack of bowls in a corner and put "March Squared" in one . It  is a freebie by Linda Stolz of Erica Michaels ,and it is on Rainbow Gallery website in the 2003 Cross Stitcher's Surprise series

The middle shelf holds a mod podge of items like pottery, sheep and stitching.  I chose some of my mini samplers and tucked it into one green planter. These little samplers were Mini Squirrel Sampler and  Little Red Schoolhouse Mini Sampler  . I placed them strategically where only the letters could be seen and not the "out of season " motifs. LOL. 

Rolled quilts , bowls and my sheep pitcher is in the opposite corner along with Winter on Pine Berry Lane. 

I just left the bottom shelf the way it was filled with just a few of my Watt's pottery pieces and knick knacks. 

So tell me . Do you think I am getting my green on? LOL. I missed not decorating for St. Patrick's Day last year so I am making up for lost time.
