Tuesday Rambles and Harvest Blessings Heart Doodle

Well I got one Christmas tree decorated, and it isn't mine! 

Happy Tuesday , Sweeties. Welcome. How was your weekend? I hope it was just as delightful as mine.  I did work on putting out a bit of Christmas 

I even decorated my daughter's Christmas tree. She chose to decorate her tree in the Nutcracker theme this year. She always has the cutest ornaments.  The big nutcrackers are blow ups.  I believe she said she got them at Walmart.

 Have you seen the cute Nutcracker themed items at the Dollar General? I picked up the Nutcracker salt and pepper shakers? So stinkin' cute!

 I also picked up these gingerbread couple. There are 2 in a  pack for $2. I had to go to several Dollar Generals to get me a few. 😀

Christmas is spilling out in my house as well. Lots and lots of totes and boxes are being pulled from the garage and attic. Wheew!  I have so much to do , but a few things are getting decorated. 🎄🎅🤶

I didn't forget about the November Heart doodle. I do apologize for being so late in getting it out, but I was traipsing along the countryside for weeks on end in my little red truck camper. 😀🛻  

 Anywhoo...  this weekend, I  traced the design onto my cloth and began to color.  I will be finishing the embroidery today  . 

Harvest Blessings in the works. 

I did finish last month's embroidery called "Autumn Dusk " ,  but I still need to work on the bonus blocks. 

Oh bother, now why didn't I do any stitching while on the trip. LOL . Aaah that is okay though I will catch up as time allows. 

UPDATE: Nov.17, 2024: I finished the embroidery on Harvest Blessing. Now it just needs a good pressing. Hee! Hee!

            My doodles are hand drawn and are never perfect.  

The "Year of Hearts" blocks are embroidered on an 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cotton. You may want to cut your fabric larger for the hoop and then after embroidery trim and square to 8 1/2".  I used 2 strands of DMC floss and  the back stitch. I color tinted my design with crayons and colored pencils and carefully heat set the color with an iron. When you heat set the color, place a clean paper towel over the design and press .

A Pumpkin or Two- A Fall Freebie

Here a pumpkin; there a pumpkin! Everywhere a pumpkin, pumpkin!

Good morning, Sunshine! 

DOLLAR GENERAL ALERT!  

Dollar General has these cutie patootie  fall signs / hornbooks for a dollar.  Wow ! What a deal! Of course, 2 jumped right into my cart, and being quite smitten,  I was just unwilling to shoo them away. 😂  I thought these would be darling for finishing. 

 

I knew exactly which stitch I wanted to put on one of these hornbooks. A Pumpkin or Two which I worked on a few days ago.

 

I really liked the cute designs on both of the hornbooks so I chose the "Fall , Fall, Fall" one and flipped it over and began  painting the backside with white paint. It took 2 coats. The little hornbook soaked the paint up pretty quickly. 

Here is  "A Pumpkin or Two" all finished !  I am pretty happy with it. 

I stitched "A Pumpkin or Two " on 14 count coffee / tea dyed aida.  It barely fit on the hornbook. I was hoping to add a ruffle , trim or another fabric covered board underneath , but I was not able. However , if  I  stitched it  on a different count fabric, I could have done that.  Anywhoo, let me tell you about the measurements. 

The  finished mounting board was a smidge under 3" x 4" . If you use the same finishing piece and size fabirc, my advice is to cut your mounting board  3 1/4" x 4 1/4" and then slowly cut it down to size it to  fit on the hornbook. It is a tight fit, but I went with it anyway. It was a cheapo finish. Hee! Hee! And you know I like that!

 I quilted a blue butterfly last night.  On to the next block!  

On Saturday , I started "Tiny Blackbird" from Blackbird Designs. Thank you dear Barbara . I am enjoying every stitch. ❤🪡

Time to change out the mantle . The  summer mantle was decorated in blue transferware and yellow pottery. 

I got a head start for Christmas and put up my Christmas garland on the mantle and draped lights , fall leaves and florals for the Autumn season. Come Christmas time, I will just take out the florals and decorate the garland for Christmas.  The fall mantle has blue pumpkin plates from the Dollar General and lots of pumpkins.

Cabbages, Leprechauns and Shamrocks - St.Patrick's Hutch Tour

It's rather a blustery day!  Good afternoon, ya'll. The rain has been coming down in sheets. Thankfully, school was out today due to the impending weather.   

Cabbage , leprechauns and sharmrocks!!!! 

The hutch is all decked out in greens and St. Patricks's Day Country Clutter.   I just have a wee collection of items, but I certainly have crammed every nook and cranny on these shelves. ☘☘

Lots of stitching and most of them are freebies that I have stitched over the years. 

I layered white ironstone plates, vintage green transferware and some shamrock plates in the background, and then I got busy pulling out the fun stuff. I always have to add my few pieces of ceramic cabbages. 

 

On the top shelf is the darling cabbage tea pot that I showed you in a previous thrift haul. 

 Why hello there,  "Erin Ewe".  Erin is sitting in her Irish cap with sprigs of shamrocks tucked in beside her. Is she not a doll?    

Beside her is a freebie from Notforgotten Farms called "Shamrock Basket" . It was one of my 2022 St. Patty's Day favorite stitches. 

 Behind the stitches is an old Tandrotine paint thinner bottle. I just love the colors and graphics. It is a treasure of my dear sister who loved to collect old bottles and vintage items like I do. 

Years ago I found the cabbage tureen at the Goodwill. I always keep my eyes peeled for such pieces. Beside it is "March - A Year in Chalk" by Hands on Design.  Below it is a little sampler called  Shamrock Blessings . I stitched it last year. 

 

Let's shimmy on down to the 2nd shelf. Ooooh more cabbage pieces including a plate, a salt shaker and a small tureen.  Can you tell I am cabbage crazy? 

Gotta have a leprechaun !  Lucky Stamp   is finished in the corner and is displayed on a Dollar General frame easel. 

"Shamrock Quilt Block" which I shared on Tuesday is front and center. It is finished on a Dollar Tree chalkboard.   

Does that leprechaun figurine not bring a smile? He is cute as a green button!!!  And whenever you are "Puttin on the Green" you have to have a John Deere tractor.  Lucky the Leprechaun has a small one right below his feet for his riding pleasure. ☘😄

 

"March Squared" is a freebie by Linda Stolz of Erica Michaels ,and it is on Rainbow Gallery website in the 2003 Cross Stitcher's Surprise series. I just tucked it into a Dollar Tree bowl that is sitting on my vintage juicer. 

Oh goodness! The third shelf is just as full as the 1st two. 

My favorite gal is hard at work . You know her - Annie and the gang in   Shamrocks, Gold and Chickens  which was finished on a wooden box that I bought at the thrift store. Right now I have it turned on its side  and a vintage bowl is on top filled with a wool pillow with my grandson's handprint on it , a green doily and a shamrock ponytail holder which is spraying out the sides. 

Two years ago Mr. Pinker bought me this little green truck wax warmer. I do not use it for that. I just hide the cord and usually display it somewhere.  In the back of the truck is "Got Luck" a 2011 freebie from Plum Street Sampler.  The little sheep on the cauliflower creamer is from the Dollar General in the Fairy Garden section . That darling was only a $1.00.

 The wool shamrock mug rug is a free design from Shabby Fabrics. You can see a glimpse of it below the green truck. 

Did you notice the little rooster and goose next to my stitch? Those are from my Christmas tree village. They are too cute to pack away until Christmas. 

 During the winter, Dollar General had their fairy garden items on clearance and I was over the moon to get the lighted fairy house for a dollar as well, but I am calling it a leprechaun's house. 

 On the old scale is a bowl from my sis with two freebies in it. "Kiss Me" was a freebie by Nancy Bandzuch and is available on her blog Catholic Sprouts .  "You are My Lucky Charm"  is one of my freebies that I stitched up in two shakes of a lamb's tail . Yep it was that quick. 

Alrighty ya'll,  that is my country clutter of a hutch for St. Patricks' Day. I won't lie . I have been eyeing as to whether I could squeeze one more St. Patrick's Day piece on there, but I haven't found an inch of space yet. 😀, but I will. Lol. Thank you for the sweet afternoon visit , and. ...
