A Cold Winter's Day- Dot's Saltbox- A Winter Freebie

Good evening , Sunshine!  Pack up the sweaters and pull out the shorts, it is going to be a warm 70 degrees today.   If it is not going to snow, then I gladly welcome the warm weather.

For the last couple of years I have shared a winter saltbox . They have included

Winter Manor

 and  Winter Saltbox   .

I do love blue houses especially come winter time. But this year I decided to change it up and stitch a cool pink house in memory of my Aunt Dot ; her favorite color was pink. My newest saltbox is called " A Cold Winter's Day- Dot's Saltbox".

To me it looks cool and serene. Of course I had to add  couple of cardinals.

It is a very snowy day at Aunt Dot's home .  Though it is hard to see, there are 3 small snowflakes on the house ( just a hint of snow).   I used 13 DMC floss colors in this piece which include 3777, 646, Blanc, 610, 224, 3713, 937, 898, 902, 3371, 301, 437, and 869.

If you are interested in stitching A COLD WINTER'S DAY- DOT'S SALTBOX   ,grab the images below. Many of ya'll know but I always encourage you to read my little disclaimer and note about getting my charts.

NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues.  Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print.  I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

Alrighty , ya'll. I am off to finish taking down Christmas decor. It is a slow process, but I will eventually get it done. Have a beautiful day and ...
As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Thank you for the sweet visit.

  3. Oh, Melisa, this is just so darn cute! What a sweet remembrance for your Aunt Dot. We had an Aunt Marian who loved pink and Aunt Vivi who loved any color...as long as it was blue! And any shade of blue would do; from aqua to navy, she loved them all. Both aunts fed the birds, too, so they would have approved of the addition of cardinals. I'll make this one for Aunt Marian since I already have the other two blue houses ready to stitch. Thank you once again for the pattern and bringing to mind the memories of two special people. Kris

    1. Aaah such warm memories of your dear aunts; I am so touched that these little stitches reminded you of them. That brightens my day. Anything pink always reminds me of my dear aunt who was like a grandmother to me. I think that is one reason that pink is one of my favorite colors as well. I hope you enjoy stitching all three houses for your dear Aunt Marian and Aunt Vivi. Hugs.

  16. I love blue houses. Used to cross-stitch a lot of house patterns and had a collection of little houses that I kinda regret giving away now -- my husband was none too happy when they were gone :) turned out he actually liked them. Your patterns are so lovely and Dot's colorway is very soft and pretty. I had an Aunt Dot, too -- she made the best biscuits and gravy.

  19. Thank you so much for so many beautiful designs! I have already stitched many of them, and have one on my hoop now. However, I have a question. On the pic at the top of your blog, in the lower left corner is a picture of kids skiing, Snow Day, can you tell me where to find it, as I feel like I have seen the pattern below, but cannot locate now. GOD Bless!! Sheila

    1. Good evening, Sheila. I so appreciate that you stopped by for a visit and thank you for the question. I have been meaning to do a post about my heading and the stitches. Snow Days can be found if Prairie Schooler's January Booklet 177. There is a cute small that matches it as well which I do need to stitch. 123 stitch has it in stock right now. I think the booklet is a little over $10.00 but you also get the large January sampler as well. Have a wonderful day, my dear.
