Candy Corn? A Halloween Freebie

Good morning ya'll. Today has a Tuesday kinda feel to it.🙃 Do you feel like you are a day behind after a long weekend?  I sure do.

So how was your Labor Day ? Ours was pretty good. We had a  cookout at mom's, and then all of the kiddos came over to the house to swim. It did rain off and on, but the light showers certainly did not spoil our fun. We were dancing in the rain or should I say swimming in the rain.

Today is the last day of the Get on Board blog hop. If you haven't checked out all of the fun, hop on over, enjoy all of the eye candy  and enter into the rafflecopter giveaway . There are some great prizes.

 Thursday, September 1

Yesterday I shared my Pineapple Quilt. Thank you so much for all of the kind compliments and for the information on growing pineapples. I will keep you posted on the progress of my plants.

So  have you started pulling out fall and Halloween decor?

I have been knee deep in fall decor and loving every minute of it. I wish I could put it all out.  I have been watching Jean E.'s home tour videos which always brings me inspiration. I love how she mixes vintage with new . She and John are collectors after my own heart.  The other day she even shared her Halloween bedroom. Eeeeh! It was amazing.

My newest thrifty find made from "real wood" hanging on my pantry door.

Well last week , I shared Aunt Mariah's Autumn Saltbox ...

As soon as I posted it , I was off and running on a new house stitch- The Candy Corn House.

Candy Corn House with Autumn's Saltbox

Now I know some of you vehemently do not like eating candy corn, but don't you think it is a little hard to resist a candy corn house?

Aaah come on.  Lookie! 👀 There is candy corn growing on a small potted tree and candy corn growing from flowers. I bet they would be quite tasty. Two little crows are ready to pluck the candy corn from the tree if you do not grab a handful.

This house is a lot smaller than Aunt Mariah's measuring  67 x 69 which on 14 count aida brings it to about  4 3/4" x 4 7/8".

There are only a few floss colors which include DMC 3371, 898, 712, 937, 720, 722, 610 & 783. Of course, you could change the colors to whatever strikes your fancy.

I often get asked what do the dates mean on many of my stitches. I usually put something in my cross stitching that is in rememberance of a family member .  The 1880 in this one is the birth year of a distant granddad.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate links because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  These are images of the chart  or JPG s and not downloads.   I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

2 . It was also know as "Chicken Feed"

  7. Candy corn is a seasonal favorite! I kinda figured that the dates were ancestor related. Thanks for the explanation. This house is such a cute addition to the houses. Wouldn't it be fun if such a tree really existed. Thank you for another wonderful pattern.

  9. Thank you for the Candy Corn House pattern. I especially love the candy corn tree. If only it were so in real life. :) I love candy corn but have severe allergies so it is next to impossible to find in a brand that won't "kill" me. None last year but, hopefully some this year.

    1. Thank you so much for the sweet visit and the kind words on my little house. Oh , yes a candy corn tree would be delightful or any type of candy tree for that matter. How terrible to have such an allergy . Is it just allergies to one or more ingredients in candy corn or other candies as well? I am sure they use a lot of the same ingredients. My daughter has food allergies and even has to be careful with some cosmetics. Have a wonderful weekend and a happy fall.

  11. I love candy corn (and the little pumpkin shaped pieces in the 'fall mix') - my jeans don't, lol. Thankfully it's only available for a couple of months. I also love the candy corn house and the trees growing the candy. I hadn't really thought about the dates, but I like that idea to give a nod to those who came before us <3

    1. Aah thank you so much, Lora. I think there are about 24 or 25 that are in small form and then there are a couple of larger pieces. I hope to have a saltbox parade in December of them. Normally I put a link to them all in a post, but I failed to do that this time. The next time I post a house I will certainly do that though. I am so excited about your plans and hope you enjoy. Happy stitching
