Snow Doodles and Winter Greetings.

 And a warm winter welcome to you, my sweet friends.

This is Season's Greetings by Little House Needleworks. After seeing my friend , Nancy's, version where she changed the wording, I did the same. 

 It is a rainy, blustery day .  The cows are huddled at the barn.

 Water is running and the creeks are rising. 

My day has consisted of sweet family visits, a few chores, and now it is time to settle down for some slow stitching. 

 I have several things in my mind to keep me occupied this evening. First on the plate is some embroidery work. I've been doodling again. 

Snow has been on my mind. One little snowman completed. I finished him within less than an hour while watching reruns of "Monk" (remember that TV show). 

     

The snowman in the heart finally landed in my plate stand which is crammed full of milk glass, stitching and knick knacks. "Winter" is a Lizzie Kate from "Winter Smalls".

                 

  Hmmm ! Which one to work on next?  The snow guy in the mitten is calling my name. Wouldn't some of these look cute in wool applique too?

Blame It On the Rain!!!

 Good afternoon ya'll. Brrr! It is cold outside. A perfect day  to cuddle up with your favorite quilting or stitching  project. But first,  we are going back in time- all the way to 1989 !!!😃🎸🥁 Ya'll remember the group!!! Milli Vanilli. Sing with me !!!  🎤

Lol , I know . I know. You are saying what is she carrying on about now. Lol. Well, I am just about to make some excuses for one of my first blocks for the RSC challenge.   😃😏😳

This months' color is Red!!!! 

Oh, you know me! I just love, love, love Red and am super excited about this month's color !!!❤❤❤ 

As soon as I read that red was the color, I hopped , skipped and jumped to the Quilt Nest to work on a new block - A super easy one Chimneys and Cornerstones.  Ok, before you look at it, get on a horse and start galloping by because I do not want to you to look too close. 

 I am "Blaming it on the Rain " though. It was  storming when I was piecing. ⛈🗲🌩😆Lol. 

Now you would think that I could piece this block blindfolded, but I can not tell you how many times I ripped out my stitches and still my corners do not meet. I even ripped my fabric. But oh no! That was not going to stop me. Those blocks were going to be pieced.

 So it's a little wonky ! Oh well. I will just keep singing and go on to the next block. 😃🎵📻 and our next tune-  back to 1983 with "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun " By Cyndi Lauper.

So I have gathered a bowl full of fabrics and I'm on to the next project. 

More chicken blocks and a red egg basket block.

This little vintage children's book provides inspiration.

Now on to a thrifty find. 

I purchased this stamped cross stitch at the Goodwill a few weeks ago for just $1.00.  It reminded me of the grandbabies and their love of going fishing with their Pappy. Love that red frame. 

This is the cross stitch I hope to finish this weekend. Reds in it too-- It's another crock stitch.

Frosty McChill Block 10-The March

Can you believe it?!!! We are already on block 10.  Just 2 more to go, and they will all be stitched up.  I know I have told you this, but I have enjoyed every minute of sharing Frosty McChill.  

            

So what is ole' Frosty up to today. Eeeh! He is on a march for more snow. 

Are you ready to do some  stitching? Well grab your needle and thread, and let's get started!!!

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN FUN FUN!!!  

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.  

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil . 

3. Embroider the design .  I used a back stitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stem stitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.  I used 1 strand of 498 for the details in the snowman's face.   

4. On the snowflakes , I used a French Knot at the end of 4 of the points . You do not have to include the French Knot or you may want to add a teeny bead at each point . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2".

Winter Manor- A Winter Freebie

  Happy , happy Tuesday. Another beautiful day in my neck of the woods. How about where you live? Grab ya , a cup and let's go sit on the porch. I have filled up my bird feeders and have been enjoying daily visitors.

               

 Usually,  I sit by the window to see who all will come  enjoy the delightful feast of seeds. The most frequent visitors are my cardinals. 

       

As we wait for the other birdies to arrive , let's talk about stitching. 

 Today, I am excited to share with you the first house stitch of 2022. 

 I officially finished Winter Manor last night. 

Let me tell you what I originally planned. 

             

First, I was going to stitch the house in DMC 931 or 930 ,but as I was playing with my blues DMC 317  just kept singing to me. So it won out in the end. 

Wouldn't the large vase with the tree and cardinals make a cute ornament on their own? Hmmm! I just may have to stitch one up. 

I also had a date centered at the top above the house, but in the end I omitted it and added more snowflakes. 

 Now if you wanted to stitch  Winter Manor, of course, you could add your initials, a date or whatever strikes your fancy. In fact ,you may want to stitch a few snowflakes or have a blizzard of flurries like I did. My little house is surrounded by cardinals- signs that angels are near.

Dip It in Glitter! Monday Makings

Good Monday afternoon and welcome. You know what the say "When life gives you Monday, dip it in glitter and sparkle all day!"  

 Come on in and grab you a cup of tea or coffee? What's on your  agenda for today?

 Well I  have started a new quilt - appliqueing some blocks. The little snowman just received  his eyes ( lol he has to see) .

 Still some embroidery work needs to be done- He does need twiggy little arms and a bit of embellishing on the scarf and toboggan . And then I am going to be off and running with   some scraps to applique a 2nd jar block. 

This year I hope to be a little more organized in my list making (Yes , I am a list maker) .

One of my finishes last week was Winter Stamp.

 It is the same size as the Autumn Stamp . 

Since the little stand that I use for Autumn Stamp was already in use with the Frosty Stamp, ....

I decided to fully finish it on a Dollar Tree tray that I painted white.  The tray can be found in the craft section at Dollar Tree.

Off to a Good Start!

 Good morning , sweetie pies.   Did you have a very Happy New Year's Day?

  Eeeh!  We had our traditional New Year's Day meal - black eyed peas, turnip greens and  hog jowl!! It's hubby's favorite meal of the year. 

 Did you ring in the new year?  Being a night owl. I certainly did. I worked on Notforgotten Farms' Snow Pants . 

This was gifted  to me by my sweet friend, Patricia.  I finished him and and stitched him into a simple pillow. Isn't he a quirky little guy?  I love him!❤⛄❤

I'm off to a great start.   

Today, I plan to  begin Bent Creek's The Red Thread "Snowman". 

This was a sweet gift from my friend. PJ.  He certainly looks like a happy snowman. 

 As for quilting-  I am putting "Winter" in the hoop. 

 Yesterday , I dipped into the scrap bin for  some homespuns and shirtings. 

I am preparing for a quilt to join in the Tablescraps Challenge with Joy at The Joyful Quilter.  January's theme is SNOWMEN. 

What are you going to be up to? Stitching , quilting or something totally different?  Well I hope it is something fun.
