Leafy Table Scrap Challenge

Red , yellow , orange and brown

 Leaves falling  to the ground

Whispering softly  Autumn is here

Cooler weather and Autumn's cheer- MV

Have you started yet?   Started raking leaves ? No, we haven't ,but they are tumbling to the ground especially after the rain that came down this weekend.  We did not lose any trees here in the holler, but on the farm, one cedar tree and an old pear tree came tumbling down from the winds.

Happy  Friday evening, y'all and welcome.

My newest Campbell's mug that I found in north TN at a thrift shop.

It has been a spell since I have participated in Joy's  Tablescrap Challenge at The Joyful Quilter, but as soon as I saw her theme , I decided to jump in with both feet with a wee mug rug.

Of course, I used the "dark" colors " as Angela has suggested for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for the month of September. This was an easy peasy  quilt to piece using leftover strips as I pieced my autumn 16 patch.

I mostly worked with 2" strips for the mug rug.

A few of the logs in the mug rug use leaf fabric.

The backing is a  print by Cranston that I bought this summer on the World's Longest Yard Sale for pennies.

More 16 patches have been constructed.  More on this quilt in progress in a future post.

Alrighty Sweeties, this is just a quick drop in. I had hoped to post earlier, but it was one of those lazy daisy days. Hee! Hee!

Have a wonderful and restful evening and ...

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Eeeh ! Another red house in the works! I began this stitch last night. Fingers crossed my borders will meet.

I am joining these lovely ladies' link parties. I hope you check them out; they always have so many wonderful projects going on and provide the opportunity for other needle workers to meet.

    1. I did, Diann and what made it even better is that I did not have to look far for scraps since I was working with browns on the 16 patches. It was a quick fun project. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  3. I've never embraced fall colors although they were popular way back when. I remember using fall colors when I learned to crochet. This year I've enjoyed seeing it. Our likes and dislikes are so fickle. LOL Your 16 patch blocks are wonderful. Can't wait to see the whole thing. Enjoy your Sunday - big hugs to you and yours. Darlene J

    1. I was the same way, Darlene especially the colors brown, black and gray. But here of late, I have grown quite fond of brown and I want to build up my stash. I have found that I do not have a lot of purples though. Yes our tastes change. Thank you for dropping by . Big hugs from the holler.

    1. Oh thank you so much, Barbara. I have to admit that a lot of these fabrics came from yard sales and thrift stores at great thrifty prices. As I am getting older ,I am learning to push myself out of the comfort zone and use different fabrics. I had a great time piecing this quick mug rug up. Hugs and Blessings.

    1. Oh I know what you mean , Terry, but you stay busy all of the time. I am sure you will get back into it when the time is right. I love following all that goes on at Joy's and finally could not stand it no longer and had to create a quick project. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs and Blessings.

  7. No raking going on here. However, the leaves have started to turn ever so slightly. I miss the vibrant fall colors we used to get here in Massachusetts. Now the leaves frequently from green to brown bypassing the glorious yellows, oranges and reds. However, your work this week transports me to the colors of my youth.

    1. Our leaves are doing the same, Gwyned. Mostly just turning brown and dropping to the ground. We have such a hot summer that there has been little color change. Thank you so much for the sweet Sunday visit. I wish you a lovely day. Hugs.

  8. Oh thank you so much for checking on me; you are the sweetest! We did get a good amount of rain. In fact it is still raining, but fortunately there was no major damage. I always worry about the wind with all of the trees here. Have a wonderful afternoon . Big hugs.

  9. Your little mug rug is a perfect little bit of Autumn with it's wonderful leaf fabric. Love the scrappy leaf blocks. I think I have a piece of that fabric, too. I noticed you signed your initials to the poem. Another creative talent you have in your pocket. Gees, Girl! You are a wonder! The 16 patch blocks are looking great. Plus, you've been working on new stitches, too? What a generous heart you have.

    1. Good evening, sweet Ginny. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I was thrilled to be able to use that leafy fabric that I got at a yard sale. The next theme is cats so I am pondering that one. LOL. I am on a roll on creating new stitches. I get those bursts of creativity every now and then. I hope it lasts. LOL. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs

  10. Your leaf blocks are very pretty. You have such pretty browns in your projects. I have a hard time finding anything but dull browns. I must be shopping in the wrong places!

    1. Oh thank you so much, Kate. I do not have that many browns in my stash, but I am slowly starting to build up the browns. I always have steered clear of brown in quilting until recently and now I am quite fond of it. I have trouble finding the right browns too though. LOL.  Hugs.
