The Ribbon Quilt is In the Works

Rise and Shine, Sunshine!

It is going to be a beautiful day and we have so much to do. Hmmm like quilting, stitching, and cleaning.   😀😃

Can you believe it is Wednesday already? This week is trucking right along.

For the last few days, it has been overcast and the temps have cooled down quite a bit. This is not our normal temperatures for this time of the year that is for sure.

Edna looks awful drowsy this morning doesn't she? Wake up, Edna!

Webbing my blocks

Yee Haw ! I am moving right along on The Ribbon QAL offered by Alycia  at Quilty Girl .

Wednesday, Alycia posted Step 3 and in no time, I was at my machine zooming away.

Now I have to admit a few blocks , jumped out of place as I turned my back, but I rustled them back into place . And in a few short hours, the blocks were all rounded up into a sweet scrappy quilt top.

Alycia will be sharing the next step today. There are borders that need to be added.

I have to admit that I was not sure how my quilt would look with all of the scrappy fabrics, but I think I am as pleased as punch!

What do you think?

Today the grandsons will be here. They have already requested that Mr. Pinker and I take them on a grand adventure. Sooo ... we will be spending our time out in the woods and by the creek. Then we will be taking a hike up the mountain.

I hope to take a little stitching along with me for those down moments.

A Basket of Autumn is in the works. Guess what it is going to be filled with?

The little sunflower bowl was a thrifty find on the World's Longest Yard Sale.

Well Sweeties, I am off to enjoy the day.

I hope you do the same and...

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Melisa

  1. Holy smokes your Ribbon quilt is so stinkin' cute. Can't help but be crazy about it. A day with the grands sounds perfect. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!! You can see my quilt I made over the week end on my IG feed. Today I worked on an older applique type project I'd completely forgotten about. It's an orange peel quilt that I've decided I love more and more as I work on it. I took a few blocks off because I've decided to make it smaller than I originally intended. Not a little quilt but a simple throw works for me. Have a terrific Wednesday. Big, bigger, biggest hugs my sweet friend, Darlene J

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Another beautiful quilt! I am so amazed at your talent...I am starting to feel better and my family Dr. felt it was a virus that aggravated my IBS...I am glad that you enjoyed seeing my "Under the Sea" Tree....I smiled when I saw the sunflower bowl as I also have an identical one. It was my late husband's grandmother's!! I hope you are having a great week!!

  12. I definitely love your scrappy top, Melisa! The sunflower bowl is really neat - love it. Have a wonderful day with your boys. Our kiddos are coming for breakfast/brunch as today is their last day of summer and school starts tomorrow. They've been so busy this summer with swim and tennis, we haven't seen much of them, so it will be a treat for us! Hugs.

  16. good morning fabulous Melisa.
i just love reading your blog posts in the morning and when they aren't there (boohoo) i'm sad!!!
i love your ribbon quilt. it is absolutely beautiful. i am a scrappy quilt maker and your quilt is wonderful. a true quilt of valor quilt. i hope you display it proudly on your couch or on the wall or on the bed - wherever - it will brighten any spot.
Edna did look a little sleepy this morning, but i am sure she woke right up and was prancing around in no time
the grandboys are going to love their adventure with their gramma and grampa. it is always so special making magical memories with the youngins'. magical memories are embedded in your thoughts and no one - not any one - can take them away. they will always be special. i love it. i wish my grandsons lived close by. both grandsons live in Spokane, Washington so it is quite a ways away from me here in california.
you take care and stay hydrated. bring lots of water and snacks on your adventure. i see you have the cross stitch in hand, but i don't think you'll have much time to stitch. boys always seem to keep up entertained and busy looking at new treasures.
your sunflower bowl is an eye catcher for sure. i love glass bowls. they are always so decorative.
well Melisa i think i have kept your ear from your daily doings. i hope you have an awesome day.
blessings and love are coming your way.

  17. The variety of fabrics makes your quilt sparkle! It looks great! A trip into the woods and up the mountain sounds like such fun. Are you taking along a picnic? Food eaten out in the "wilderness" adds to the adventure. Looking forward to seeing some great pics of your day with the grands.
