Halloween Manor- A Halloween Freebie

There's a house upon the hilltop

We will not go inside

For that is where the witches live,

Where ghosts and goblins hide.

Tonight they have their party.

All the lights are burning bright .

But oh we will not go inside

The haunted house tonight....- Jack Prelutsky

Well hello there stranger! Welcome!

It has been a few blue moons since I have posted- well actually just a few days, but it sure feels  like it has been awhile for me. 😁😀

It was fall break here, and you know what that meant-- Eeeeh Grandma time! Yep , "The Boys" ( that is what we call the grandbabes and the nephews)  have been out of school and have been keeping us busy going here and there and everywhere.

Lots of fall fun including a fishing tournament where my nephew and grandson placed 7th. Yah!  There was so much fun  to be had that I have not been on the computer not once - so please forgive me-  I will be playing catch up this week .

A glimpse at my small black cat Halloween tree.

The countdown is on!!!

14 days until Halloween

37 days until Thanksgiving

69 days until Christmas

Oooh, do you want to  visit a haunted house?

Come on ! I think we are brave enough to see what this house has in store for us!

My newest house in the neighborhood has ghoulish ghosts and sly black cats creeping about. Beyond  the doors- who knows what secrets the house holds.

The new home is called Halloween Manor. I believe those cats have their own magical powers- they are climbing the walls!!!

Halloween Manor has a stitch design of 81 x 76. I stitched my spooky home on 14 count aida which brought it to about  5 3/4" x 5 3/8".

 I used 11 DMC floss colors which include 782, 469, 934, 648, 898, Blanc, 301, 3799, 317, 310 and 919.

Oh , gosh was that house too frightening to look at, I sure hope not. Lol. 👻🎃

Now tell me do you  have any tales of a haunted house?
As a child, we lived in an older  house called the Lewis house which was said to be haunted by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis.   Of course being an older home , we kiddos naturally heard bumps in the night. But the scariest thing I ever saw  in the old Lewis home was snakes crawling out of the attic. Yikes!  Mom gathered us youngin's up and we high tailed it to my Nanny's until dad got home to rustle those slithering critters up.   I believe he pulled at least 4 long snakes from the eaves of the house as my sister and I stood a safe distance away. 🐍🐍🐍🐍  So no ghosts- but definitely snakes going bump in the night!  Hmmmm I think I would have preferred the ghosts.
Another one of my Halloween favorites- "Brooms for Sale " by Homepsun Elegance

Well, Sweeties, that is my tale for the day. I appreciate the sweet visit and wish you a spooktacular Tuesday.

As always...

Happy stitching, y'all

If one door closes and another one opens, your house is probably haunted. 👻

The livestock are grazing.

A salt block is in the barrel for the cows.

The barns are filled with hay for the winter season. This is Papa's old barn.

Halloween Jar- A Halloween Mason Jar Freebie.

Good morning , sweet Friends  .

Oh ,it is a beautiful fall day! The weather has started to cool here in the holler. The leaves are falling, and each day I have been going out twice a day using the leaf blower to clean the patio.  Oh, those Autumn chores!

Afterwards,  I make my way back to the porch , prop up my feet and enjoy the chill of the day. This has been a lovely routine this past week.  How is it in your neck of the woods? Feeling like fall?

Last week, I bustled about redecorating the house for Halloween.  All of Halloween stitches and quilts are spooking about the house.

Some of vintage Halloween drifted  to the buffet along with some of my Halloween stitches.

Header photo

Some of the stitches included on the buffet are Pumpkin StewWillowisp Manor of Holler Lane and Halloween Manor. I hope Halloween Manor will be a future freebie if I can remember what floss colors that I used. 😳🙄

Sunday  night I finished quilting the last block in my Butterfly Kisses quilt.  That night I had a sweet dream of my sister.🛌👼

Then on Monday morning , I spotted this lovely butterfly enjoying the sweetness of an old watermelon rind which was  thrown out for the raccoons.  Isn't the butterfly a perfect for the fall season?

With all of the fall chores, I have included some  canning in the mix.

Well, not food this time,😀 but I did try to bottle up some Halloween goodness in  my latest mason jar stitch! - It's Halloween Jar!

My jar looks a bit different than how it was charted. Why you may ask? Well I am make boo boos all the time . I often laugh that I can not even stitch my own charts.  I accidently moved my Jack a little too far over which made all of the other stitches off. But that is okay; I will call it a "Happy Accident" . I didn't realize it until later, and I just did not want to frog so I kept on stitching. It all worked out in the end.

I just added an extra green cross near the cat's head to fill in the space.

It is hard to distinguish the symbols on the colored chart, but the cat is stitched in DMC 310 . His nose is 918  and the bow is 301.  The jack is stitched in 301 with the stem being 898 . His eyes are white and black and his cute peachy cheeks are stitched in DMC 921.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

If you missed any of the previous jars, just click on the names below, and you will magically be transported back to a previous post.

Well , y'all I better hop off here.  I hear the faint rustling of leaves whisping about, and you know what that means - leaf blower and rake are going into action and later in the day, my nimble fingers will be quilting away on Butterfly Kisses.   I do have the borders to work on . Have a terrific Tuesday and...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Oh My! Pumpkin Pie Hutch Tour

Good morning , sweet friends. Please do join me in the kitchen.  How about a pumpkin latte ? That sounds delectable doesn't it? Let's sit a for a spell and chat.

Here I go again!!! 😃🍂 I have another Fall country clutter tour.

Pumpkin pie graphic from Graphic Fairy .

My hutch has been decked out for Pumpkin Pie Season, and I included lots of thrifty finds  in the Pumpkin Pie theme .

Of course each and every shelf is crammed full of pumpkin goodness . If you look very carefully, you might find the kitchen sink stuffed in there. 😂😀 I do try to make use of every inch that I can.

Let's start with the top shelf , shall we?

I used my pumpkin orange Dollar Tree plates for a backdrop for each shelf.  Hanging from the top shelf is a Fresh Baked Pumpkin Pies sign that I made from a scrap of wood. - Easy Peasy!

In one corner is a yellow candle holder which I am using as a riser to hold a plate of pumpkins. Below it is my  Pumpkins  cross stitch which I shared last year.

In the opposite corner is my Esmond cookie jar that I bought a few short months ago. I just love it. 🧡🧡🧡
I bought the truck cookie jar last year  from the Dollar General on clearance for just $2.50 😳😯.  I sure hope Dollar General has some good after season clearance sales this year. 🎃 But I have to admit , I have been very good this season and have not gone to the Dollar General too much in order to avoid temptations.  Hee! Hee!

Let's shimmy on down to the 2nd shelf.

In one corner, is Cornstalks, Pumpkins and Chickens  . It  is one of my fall favorites with Annie and her feathered friends .

The pumpkin bowl is one of my newest thrifty finds that I purchased earlier this year. It is filled with a few fall pretties including Rosie's Pumpkins  and Little Quaker Pumpkin which is a freebie on the Stitchy Fish Designs blog in the September 12, 2016 post.

Behind the pumpkin bowl is one of my small rug hooks  and Pumpkin Haul Stamp.

A pumpkin pitcher and butter dish rounds out the 2nd shelf.

I just adore Lizzie Kate's Autumn Smalls  which sits in a bowl of pumpkins on top of my vintage scales.

Let's hop on down to the bottom shelf for more Pumpkin Pie goodness.

The vintage juicer is sporting a redware bowl which holds Dollar Tree picks.
The Better Homes and Garden Pumpkin Pie dish was a gift from my mom years ago. It is elevated on an old flower stand. Below it are some of the spices that we might need for fall baking.

We do have to  make a trip to the pumpkin patch if we want to make pumpkin pie so Little Bits Pumpkin Haul is front and center.

A couple of weeks ago , I went to the neighbors moving estate sale. She was selling everything and moving into a retirement community. It made my heart swell that she was so happy that my family bought so  many of her belongings. She felt like they were remaining in the family.  Anywhoo one of the purchases  was the  Betty Furness Westinghouse Cookbook published in 1954. It is  treasure trove of recipes.

This is the Pumpkin Pie recipe from the book. I have not tried this recipe ; it is different from mine, but I may give it a go here soon.

Have you ever used molasses in your pumpkin pie ?

Well ya'll that's my  Pumpkin Pie hutch. Do you think I pulled the theme off?  I sure am enjoying the warm cozy colors. But you know what? - I still have not managed to  make a pumpkin pie yet. Lol.

If you would like to see my previous hutch tours , I invite you to check out the links below.  You will see a lot of the same old things , but I just move them around .

 2022 Autumn Blues Hutch Tour

I decorated my hutch twice in 2020. The 2nd one was called Pumpkin Pie Fall Hutch as well.

Next time I will be a better host and have a big slice of pumpkin pie ready for you.  Thank you so much for spending a few minutes of your day with me.   Have a beautiful day and ...

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

You are sweeter than pumpkin pie!
