A Buffet of Bees

A  country clutter tour on a Sunday? Aaaah why not!

Welcome y'all. I hope you  had a wonderful Sunday and a fabulous weekend. I have been quite entertained these last few days with the grandsons and nephews running amuck along with all of the other holiday activities.  A grand sleepover will take place tomorrow night. I am not sure if the boys will camp out or not.

Anywhoo , I was able to redecorate the buffet today . The patriotic decor was moved and the bees buzzed right on in to their spot. So I thought I would show you what I have done so far.

A lot of these things stay on the buffet year round. This buffet was my great grandmother's who sold eggs to buy the dinning room set in the early 1920's . My Great Aunt had the buffet in her house years ago, and the large brass scales were always on the buffet.

I started out by hanging another quilt on the quilt rack. It is a handpieced and quilted hexi quilt. It is a ray of sunshine in this room.

Some of my favorite bee pieces are on the buffet along with some treasures from my friends.

I placed a few honey dippers in my glass flower frog. I made the bee skep from old jute twine and a milk jug a couple of years ago- what a fun craft.

Bee Balm ,one of my latest bee stitches , is finished on a Dollar Tree paper mache box.

Buzz Buzz  and  Bee Sampler   sit beside " Busy Buzzing Bee" which is nestled in a vintage glass. I wasn't too happy with Busy Buzzing Bee so I haven't shared that one. 🙄

I moved one of my vintage milk glass nesting hens onto the buffet.  I thought she looked cute with the bees. What do you think ?

Lots of stitching is in this little nook of the buffet including Bee Berry , Itty Bitty Bee PinkeepHive Sweet HiveBee Skep 1869 Crock and "A , Bee, C Pinkeep " which I have not shared yet.

On the blue transferware plate is three small stitches including Beatrice's Bee Manor, "Skeps, and "Beatrice" . Hmmm two more I haven't shared yet. I stitched them a couple of years ago.

  12. As always, I'm amazed at your Buffet of Bees!! What a lovely tribute to your Great Aunt, and oh, the memories. Ray of Sunshine, indeed is your quilt. What a great layout to keep it simple with hexi-flowers and let them truly shine out. Love this quilt in every way .... and of course all the other bits and pieces, but hey, the quilt steals the show! :)

    1. Oooh that's a great idea on the flags as well. I am going to copycat you next year. I hope you don't mind. The honey dippers was done on a whim as I was moving things around- I guess you could say a happy decorating accident. LOL. Thank you so much for the sweet visit and kind words. You brightened my day.

    1. I am on a lookout for another nesting hen too. I went to one of my favorite antique shops the other day , but alas no hens. LOL. The World's Largest Yard Sale is coming up in August so I will be searching for a cheap nesting hen and another sad iron to add to my collection. I wish you the best on finding a hen too, Ginny. Hugs.

    1. Oh Sharon thank you so much. I do not have the will to take these scales off the buffet after being on it for decades and since it is a "family piece" . I always struggle with how to decorate around it and what to put in it. I have an obsession with plates so it gives me another display space for them. This was the first time I have displayed these plates. Have a wonderful evening and thank you again for the sweet visit. Hugs.
