Christmas Stocking- Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Good morning , my sweet Farm Chiks. Is your day off to a great start? I sure hope so. Ok. I have one of my looney questions again. Can I  really be  called a crazy chicken lady when I do not even own chickens anymore? šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚šŸ˜œšŸ”šŸ”šŸ”  I just don't know.  I tell you - I am plumb smitten over them though and still can not get enough of stitching them. In my defense, I have officially been chicken free for about 3 years or at least owning live ones.  On the otherhand, I do go and visit my sister's chickens.Plus I have been collecting chicken items since the 90's!!! And I still have my chicken coops and feeders!!!! Yikes!  I may be a crazy chicken lady!!!!šŸ”šŸ£šŸ˜³  Fortunately, I know I am not the only one. Lol.  Now which one of you is going to admit that you are a crazy chicken lady too? šŸ˜ƒ Aaah, come on ! If I can do it, you can do it. Lol

Well today , I got another stitch to share with you and you got it! It is a pig stitch!   Naahh, I'm kiddin' ; it's a chicken stitch.

It is an new addition to my Barnyard Christmas ornaments. A big black hen is stuffed into a red stocking. You know what- I think that hen is Edna from Annie and the gang You may remember her  in Snowflakes, Sledding and Chickens  another great winter chicken stitch.

Anywhoo! Santa can certainly leave a little chicken in my stocking any day, and I would be one happy chicken lady.

Christmas Stocking is a small like the other Barnyard ornaments with a design size of 31 x 31. I stitched mine on tea/coffee dyed aida which brought the size to around  2 1/4" squared.

Six glorious DMC colors are used in this little design . I used DMC  898, 976, 895, 498, white and black but certainly use whatever colors your sweet little heart desires.

If you would like to add this chicken stitch to your Christmas stitching list, then by all means check out the pdfs below.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate pdf downloads because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  And I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and stitching my little designs.

  2. I am a crazy chicken lady too! My flock went from 8 beautiful hens and one rooster to 19 hens and 3 three roosters this year! I just couldn't say no to all those sweet baby chicks at the feed store! I love your chicken cookie jar and sugar bowl finds. And even though I have a basketful of projects that need to be finished sitting beside my stitching chair, I'm going to be stitching your sweet little chicken Christmas stocking tonight when we settle in for the evening. Thank you so much for your generousity in sharing your patterns. I love them all!

    1. AAah thank you so much . Eeh your flock sounds so wonderful. I completely understand how hard it is to resist the baby chicks. I was so tempted to purchase some this weekend. I am so excited that you are adding this to your stitching list. You will have this stitched up in no time I am sure. Thank you so much. I can not tell you how excited I am. Happy stitching.

  3. Oh, what a sweet black hen in a red stocking!!! She fits in so well with the rest of your Prim Winter Stitches. I haven't had chickens in so long, but I did have a small flock of Bantams hens and rooster. They looked like they had feather pants and the rooster would pick fights with the geese!! I love growing up in the country. Have a wonderful beautiful day. Hugs and love from Arizona.

    1. Happy Wednesday, Mary and thank you so much for the sweet visit. You always brighten my day. I bet your Bantams were amazing with their feathered pants Lol. Those roosters sure can get pretty mean though can't they. Of course I have seen some pretty ornery geese too. Lol. I hope your day was a beautiful one too, my dear. Happy stitching.

  6. I've been a crazy chicken lady for several years now, but am sadly down to just two hens currently - my flock leader, Bonnie Braveheart, an Easter Egger, & my Silver-Laced Wyandotte beauty, Pretty Polly Pepper. Your adorable chicken charts remind me of my very favorite once-in-a-lifetime hen, my beloved Black Betty Bam-a-Lam, who was a rare French Black Copper Marans stunner. Betty had gorgeous black feathers with iridescent teal & purple highlights & she laid the most beautiful dark chocolate brown eggs. Betty & I would "converse" back & forth on a daily basis; she was an opinionated lady who would cuss me out regularly anytime I cleaned her roost or unceremoniously removed her from the nesting boxes when she'd go broody & try to hatch my other girls' eggs. She'd desist only when I'd start "talking chicken" back to her. Bawk Brup! I have a one-minute video of the two of us "talking" back & forth one day when she was particularly furious with me for parting her from what she considered to be "her" egg (it was the wrong color)! When I switched over into "her" language, she immediately calmed down & walked away. I laughed for the longest time! How I miss my funny, feisty Black Betty Bam-a-Lam! I plan to start stitching her up immediately. Thank you for the sweet memories.
