Forever and A Day - Sunday

Good Sunday afternoon, ya'll. It seems like forever and a day since I have posted a Slow Stitching Sunday post and even longer since we have visited on the porch. Please grab a cup of tea .

So sorry for the blurry photos.

I have 2 needles threaded if you want to join in. I have shared  this quilt several times.

I bought the quilt top a few years ago at the World's Longest Yard Sale for only $12.00. I work on it here and there. The fun fabrics always make me smile; it sorta reminds me of sherbet ice cream for some reason.

This will be my 15 minute a day project for the week though I know I will spend more time on it than that. The plan is to quilt one block a day.

Patriotic quilts hang from the shutters in the foyer.  I am fixing to change those out for some midsummer quilts.

I almost always have a quilt hanging on one of the doors.

Have you already starting making plans for the new week?  Mine looks to be a busy one.

What's the Plans for the Week?  Well....

๐ŸŒž 1. Work on my Summer Days quilt blocks.

๐ŸŒž 2. Quilt on the Rainbow Sherbet Quilt

๐ŸŒž 3. Finish a new saltbox cross stitch

๐ŸŒž 4. Take the grandbabies camping.

Well I am off to  quilt the evening away. Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by and as always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Christmas on the Farm- A Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Rise and Shine, my friends. Happy Saturday.

Yesterday the skies opened up and it came a gully washer.

We even got some hail. My walnut tree is dragging. How low can the limb go? It is like playing limbo to drive under it.

You can barely see the house . Still I love that walnut tree. It provides me many of walnuts to dye fabric with.

More rain is expected today. Plus we have a heat advisory in effect. How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Well, a little chick told me that I needed to be working on Christmas ornaments because there is only 169 days until Christmas. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿคถ  How did that happen? July just snuck up on me. How about you?

For the last couple of years, I have been putting up a Barnyard Christmas tree.

This year I will be adding a few more ornaments to my collection. The first one is stitched but not FFOd.

This one is called Christmas on the Farm.

Lookie how teeny those hens are.

A -Tisket , A- Tasket , A Little Yellow Basket

A tisket , a tasket

A green and yellow basket

I wrote a letter to my love

And on the way I dropped it..."

Good morning, ya'll. I finished my "Tisket , A Tasket, A Little Yellow Basket " quilt. Whew! What a long name. But each time I worked on it I would recite the little nursery rhyme in my head.

Do you remember this sweet nursery rhyme? As a child I loved nursery rhyme time especially if there were  motions  or dances  to go with the rhyme. I think  Farmer in the Dell was my favorite though.  I went to a little private kindergarten in a church and after puzzle time we would gather in the main room and act out little rhymes each day. At the end of the year, we had a  graduation where each child had to recite a nursery rhyme. Mine was "I Have a Little Dress Shop".

I have a little dress shop

        A great big store downtown.

I will sell you pretty dresses

        Even lovely wedding gowns.

Yes! I still remember it!  This was actually a perfect rhyme for me because I would only wear dresses as a child.  Lol

I do not know if rhymes and games are taught like this now.   Hmm. I would like to think these  classics are taught in preschool though.

Well anywhoo! I actually appliqued this quilt in 2021 with the intentions of finishing it that summer. Well a year late is not too bad.  After completing my Friendship Basket quilt last year, I was ready to start a new basket quilt .

I quickly drew out a small rounded basket and then searched the Quilt Nest for pretty cheerful yellow fabrics. I appliqued these little sweeties in just a weekend and had the blocks all set. Oh,how I love scrap quilts-even if they are small.

I adore the primary colored fabrics in this quilt. There is a mixture of thrifted, vintage, quilt shop and Walmart fabrics. (I will use just about any fabric if I love it) .

Do any of these fabrics look familiar to you? You might have some in your quilt stash.

This fabric was bought years ago from the Little Quilt shop in Marietta , GA.

This yellow basket is quite cheerful in the vintage yellow fabric.

Early 1990's fabric used in this basket. I bought several yards of the yellow rose fabric from the Goodwill years ago.

I always hum "The Yellow Rose of Texas" when working with this fabric.

Love the aqua paired with the red.

The quilting is a bit wonky , but I am ok with that. It is handmade with love.

Hmmm. How many state parks or campgrounds has this little quilt visited. David Crocket State Park, Warriors Path State Park ,  Roan Mountain,  Big Ridge State Park and  Martin Springs Campground. I think it is well traveled . Don't you?

My quilt in my  favorite camp chair.

I finished the quilting at Big Ridge .

Now it is time to pop another baby into the quilt frame.

Before you leave, I wanted to tell you that I have been having tech trouble again. It takes 40 -50  minutes to upload photos to my blog or to Instagram which I am not sure why.  At this point , I am quite frustrated and at times want to throw up my hands. I use a Canon camera to take my photos and load them directly to blogger or IG without loading them to the chromebook.   If you have any suggestions on what I should do or not do, I would greatly appreciate it. If I am offline, for awhile it might be due to that . My daughter will be home in 2 weeks maybe she can help.

Chat with you later, my dears. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs and as always...

Happy Quilting, ya'll

Country Roads Take Me Home

"Country roads  take me home

To the Place I belong.."

Gosh! It doesn't seem like this John Denver song is over 50 years old. My how time flies.

Good morning, my friends. I have made it home from our  vacation. We did not take our long trip out west but spent the last couple of weeks weaving in and out of TN, VA and NC camping at state parks. It was a good trip.

Lots to see and of course I  ate too much.

One of our favorite places to eat was Pals's Sudden Service. If you are ever  in East TN, you have got to visit them. It is a drive thru, and the burgers are big and delicious !!

Of course , Mr. Pinker was a master chef at the grill as well.

 He even fixed breakfast.

In Greenville, we visited the resting place of President Andrew Johnson .  We also visited his home and his old tailor shop.

Lots of rivers and streams to explore. Mr. Pinker fished. I kayaked or stitched by the creeks.

A highlight was visiting Mount Airy , NC. My favorite TV show is Andy Griffith, and I have always wanted to visit his hometown.

Hiked the Appalachian Trail at Roan Mountain.

Roan Mountain.

One of the project that I took along with me was Jeannette Douglas's Mini Bouqet freebies. I fell hook , line and sinker for this project with the enablement of 3 of my dear  stitchy friends- Robin who sent me the charts , Marianne who has shared a photo of one of her beautiful pinkeeps and Sharon who is stitching hers as one piece. After much debate, I decided to work on this as a large piece.

I have had so much fun just pulling flosses at random. Some in fact are mystery flosses because the labels have long since been lost.

I also finished Amy's Pinkeep which I shared as a freebie before I left on my trip.

I really should not call it a pinkeep since it is so big on 14 count aida, but it would look quite lovely finished on a paper mache box with a fair amount of batting under it . Don't you think so?  However, it may end up in a frame, just depends on how long I want to wait for the perfect finishing piece.

I even took a small quilt to work on while enjoying down time at the campground.

Well I will not chat your ear off at this moment. I  still have lots of unpacking to do and chores, chores, chores.  I just wanted to pop in and say hi and to say that I have missed ya'll. I hope to catch up on posts, lovely comments and IG very soon. Thank you for all of the safe travel well wishes. They mean so much too me. Have a very beautiful day. As always...

Happy Stitching & Quilting, ya'll
