Blackberries are getting ripe! I have been eating them by the handfuls right off the bush.
The other day, I put on my garden boots and headed out to the farm to pick a few which are growing along the fence line. I thought I better pick some before the heat dries them up into nothing.
Don't they look yummy?!
I picked around 6 cups and by golly, the next morning I awoke to find Mr. Pinker busy in the kitchen baking a cobbler. Eeeh ! He is a keeper!
Last year I shared a 1 cup Blackberry Cobbler Recipe that is baked in an iron skillet. If you would like to read that recipe, just click the colored link.
This year, Mr. Pinker decided to try another recipe. He called it the $2.00 Cobbler because we had most of the supplies on hand except for the canned biscuits.
|
Mr. Pinker got creative on arranging the biscuits.💙💜😀 |
It was delicious, but I have to admit it was not like Mom's . LOL. Do you do that?- Compare cooking to your mom's or grandma's? I do all that the time. 👵🙄😀😋
Anywhoo, Mr. Pinker made it a little runny or should I say juicy just like we like it. 😀 He said the next time he fixes it , he will leave off the bottom layer of biscuits in the baking dish. If you make this recipe, adjust it to your liking.

Did you notice the gorgeous plum colored dish cloth under the bowl of berries?
My dear friend Karen sent it to me along with 2 others . Aren't they scrumptious?!
I marveled over the design that she knitted- so beautiful. Thank you, Karen. 🤗 I love them and of course they will be out year round. I immediately put them on display - too cute to use for washing dishes. Hee! Hee!
First, I rolled them and placed them in a Pyrex bowl ,but soon they found their way into a pitcher on the baking table along with the apple pie dish that Karen gifted me.
Am I being long winded today? 🌬🌬🌬 But oh , I do have a few other things to share if you don't mind.
I created a header for the Strawberry Stamps if anyone is interested. I am going to restitch all of my Strawberry stamps into one big piece. I originally stitched the stamps using DMC 498 as the border but for the large piece I may use DMC 930. What do you think? I think that would look snazzy .
I STITCHED MY DESIGN ON 14 COUNT AIDA THAT I COFFEE/ TEA DYED MYSELF.

I want to thank all of you who have followed along with me on my Strawberry Stamp journey as well as all of the encouragement, support and for stitching along with me.
Before you leave, I wanted to show you my Strawberry Quilt too.
Another wonky scrappy berry has been quilted. I am moving slow but sure on this one.
By the end of the day, I plan to have one whole row of berries completed.
Well , Sweeties, I am off to enjoy the day! Have a spectacular Sunday yourself and ... As Always...
Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

ReplyDeleteIt was over the moon that he fixed the cobbler. The blackberry bushes have done great this year and the berry are so big. I fear this heat is going to shrivel them soon though. Thank you for the sweet visit, Linda. Happy Sunday. Hugs.

Blackberry jam year round! Thanks for the flash back of a great memory! Your quilt is darling! And so is the new Strawberry stitch. Hats of to Mr. Pinker for creating the yumminess! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteAaaah I am so happy that this post brought back fond memories. That just warms my heart. Blackberry jam is the best isn't it? I haven't made any this year. Hubby bought some from the Mennonite community though and it was yummy! Hugs and Blessings.

Have a wonderful Sunday, Melisa!

ReplyDeleteWe are the same Terry. Cobblers and pies are our favorite. I do feel very fortunate that hubby likes to cook as well. He is an amazing cook that is for sure. Have a blessed evening and thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteFollow.it makes it impossible for me to download your wonderful cross stitch patterns. This makes me very sad
ReplyDeleteHave you tried to screen capture the designs ? I am not very tech savvy; I do wish I had a better solution. I used to be able to create download links but now it would cost me . I hope one day to figure out a different way to share them. Thank you for the sweet visit and for letting me know. Blessings.
DeleteYummy, yummy!! Mr. Pinker is a keeper!! Lucky lady! Love the Strawberry Header Pattern, now I really have to get my fingers working. Now, where did I file those patterns? Lol! Have a wonderful Sunday, hugs from sunny hot Arizona, maybe a little rain soon, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI was over the moon when I saw him in the kitchen baking this sweet treat! It was our 1st cobbler for the summer season. I hope you enjoy the little stamps, dear Mary. I started my header tonight. I hope it comes out ok. I always worry about posting a pattern before stitching it. I hope you do get rain very soon and perhaps give you a bit of relief from the heat. We have had spotty thunderstorms for the last 2 days. It just makes it muggy here but I am ok with that if I do not have to water my garden.LOL. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteThat looks like a yummy dessert ! Always cute stitching going on at your place. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Gail. It was quite yummy . I always enjoy a good cobbler. I hope that you had a good day of stitching too. Thank you for the sweet Sunday visit. Hugs.
DeleteYour blackberries look so good. I have never bought tube biscuits in my life. I would probably make my own if I try this. Mr. Pinker's dessert looks really yummy! My son cut his blackberries waaaay back this year and they haven't done much so far. My raspberries are starting to ripen and I ate some right off the bush the other day! Made my day! Thank you for the Strawberry Header. That will make for a really gorgeous larger stitched piece. Your string strawberries always make my heart so happy when I see them!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I love homemade biscuits as well. I think that would be even better. Oooh fresh raspberries - how yummy! Mom cut her raspberries back and like your blackberries they are not producing as much. But I sure wish they were. I wish you a wonderful week. Hugs and Blessings.
DeleteAaaah Dianne, you are so sweet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart; I am so very humbled and deeply grateful. You made my day.! Have a very blessed day. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like a delicious recipe, blackberries aren't my thing, I prefer raspberries and blueberries.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberry quilt will be great too, so many beautiful strawberries.
