Good morning, Sweet Chippers and Happy Monday!
Well, Vicki at Vicki's Crafts and Quilting got me on the potato chip kick. After seeing her gorgeous blocks , I had to make one and of course like any good chip, I could not stop at one.

2 1/2" strips will do the trick at completing these blocks.

| Each strip is 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" |
How many chips will I make? Hmmm I am not sure, but I am thinking 42 will be the minimum . Then we will see from there.
As of right now, I am following Vicki's lead and making my blocks 12 1/2" squared (unfinished)
Excuse me a minute- "Mr. Pinker dear, can you bring us some more chips?" Hee! Hee!

Mr. Pinker has been making homemade chips here of lately. Today he seasoned them with Killer Hogs BBQ Rub, and they are oh so yummy!
Please do grab some and since you are here grab your rotary cutter and let's get to piecing. I need all of the help I can get!
Ok Sweeties, we are off and running with greasy chips in hand along with fabric! Let's do this! Have an awesome chiptastic day!!!

Scrap Happy Flag quilt blocks is my leader/ ender project as I piece the Potato Chip blocks. Five more blocks are completed.
I shared my measurements in the May 2oth post. It has warmed my heart to see other dear quilters creating Scrap Happy Flags for themselves. Thank you!
The chips look very yummy! I wouldn't get any sewing done - too busy making more chips LOL The potato chip blocks made me smile - scrappy fun.

Oh they are yummy, Darlene. I wish I could send you a whole bag full of them. Lol. Eeeh! I am so excited that you have been working on the stamps!! I hope you have been enjoying each and every one. DeleteI've been looking at that potato chip block too - I was surprised to see how many 2 1/2 strips scrap I actually have. Guess it'll be next on my list! My Aunt Joy used to make her own potato chips - boy were they good! Have a great day - we're on the road again! Blessings!

We made homemade chips the other day for my grandsons and I was surprised they liked them too. They are a little picky. Lol. Hoping you are having a great time on your travels. Hugs.

DeleteVicki's potato chip blocks have been on my list for awhile. I have a photo of hers hung on the side of my design wall! I'm so impressed with homemade BBQ potato chips! My husband made regular ones a few years ago and I've never forgotten how good they were. Using the rub is genius! He hasn't attempted more because he almost always slices one of his fingers on the mandoline - eeeek!

ReplyDeleteI had never heard of Potato chips blocks until just recently and when I saw Vicki's I was hooked. Oh yes, hubby tried making plain and then ridged to see if there was a difference. I didn't see much of one but he felt the plain took the seasoning better. Lol. Thank you for the dropping by, dear Ginny. Hugs.
DeleteI love that quilt! What a great way to use up scraps which I am all about! I have one of those Charles Chips containers just like yours. I've had mine for 40 or 50 years! As a matter of fact I am old and most of my belongings are too! LOL! My Mother used to make homemade potato chips....so good! Mr. Pinker is a keeper for sure! The way to a woman's heart is food plus fabric!

DeleteYour Charles Chips container reminds me of when I was a kid. We didn't buy them often, but boy, I loved them. The potato chip block looks super cool in your colors. It will make a nice quilt.

DeleteI never knew about home made chips, how does he cut them so thin and wavy? We call the commercial ones "bags of chippies" here in NZ.
ReplyDeleteHubby just started making these a few months ago. He uses a mandoline slicer that we bought at the thrift store. I think it has a wavy blade . The homemade chips are very yummy! I love that - bag of chippies! Thank you for dropping by , Jenny. Hugs.
DeleteMy family used to get Charles Chips delivered to our house when I was growing up! I love that you have an old tin from them. And homemade potato chips - yum! But your fabric potato chips are cuter and probably way less calories. :)
