Do you have your needle and thread in hand? It is Slow Stitching Sunday. The perfect day to sit back, relax and enjoy weaving your needle in and out of fabric.
I have my project in the hoop and ready to go. Do you remember this quilt top that I showed you last month? It is the one that I purchased at a yard sale that was partially quilted. I think I will call it my Alabama Beauty Quilt since I bought it in Alabama.
Anywhoo , this has been my Wednesday project, but today, I will move the hoop.
The quilter was quilting 1/4" around each triangle which I am doing the same. These last few weeks my needle has meandered among shirtings and sweet calicos of reds, blues and browns. In my mind, I have made up stories of the sweet maker cutting up her husband's worn shirt or bits of dressing material to use in this quilt. 🤗
I did make a small patch for a pinhole . I am using a soft pink quilting thread just like the original quilter did.
Today the quilt hoop will moved to a row of browns, blues and pinks.
Later in the evening I will begin working on my Mini Pumpkins Sampler cross stitch which I shared yesterday.
Speaking of cross stitch I want to thank everyone again for all of the kind words about my Pumpkin Blossom Inn. I can not thank you enough for the amazing response to it.

How about another quick stitch? I worked on this little Halloween stamp last night. It is called Three Happy Jacks Stamp.
It is a "Choose Your Own Colors " chart, but if you are interested in the colors that I used, they were DMC 3829, 469, 301,921, white , 310, 898, 3853,

DeleteI love the idea of making up stories about the fabrics in your Alabama Beauty quilt. I can imagine men's shirts, boy's pajamas, little girl's school dresses, aprons, and maybe a Sunday church dress for Momma. Thanks for rescuing the quilt. All those triangles! Kris
ReplyDeleteP.S. I was paging through your past blog-posts and came across a picture of an apron hanging on your hutch. It was made from red fabric with patchwork-style mushrooms printed on it. I used the very same fabric to make bedroom curtains in our beige, beige, beige, and brown apartment when we were first married! Oh, how they brightened up the room! Thanks for the giggle! Kris
Kris I have been having a ball working on this quilt. It is such a delight to look over the fabrics. Oh how fun about the red fabric from the apron. That just makes me smile. DeleteWhat a sweet little pumpkin stamp! Thank you! Those curly stems make me smile. I actually have a pumpkin of decent size this year in the garden. It is turning to a beautiful orange. The AL Beauty quilt is so lovely. It was a lucky day when you found it and now it will be finished and cherished as it should be.
