Brrr!  It is a rainy winter day .Welcome, my friends.

Winter Saltbox

 A Winter Advisory is been put in effect in my neck of the woods. Still waiting to see if snow will fall in the valley.  I have my needle and thread all ready for some good ole' slow stitching. What about you?   

Since I am on Snowbird Alert, I think today is the perfect day to finish the quilting on  my Winter wall hanging and begin the binding.

 I know this was supposed to have been fully completed last week, but I saw some squirrels and got sidetracked.  😀

 Fabric is tea dyed so  "Let It Snow Sampler" will be my cross stitch.

 Still debating on the floss color to use. I'm leaning toward DMC 930.  

Well, this week, I finished  and shared my Winter Blessings cross stitch .

  I also finished a quick dough bowl filler called "Love You! "

 This week's RSC block was a red bowl with posies in it. These colors are my happy colors. 

 

Sweet Paxton has a new small cross stitch that he wants me to finish into a bowl filler. It is called Love Quilt Star. 

If you would like to stitch it . Grab your favorite  red  and pink and you can stitch it up lickety split. I stitched mine on 14 count tea dyed aida. It was a scrap piece. I hate to waste those scraps.

Frosty McChill Block 11 - Play Time

Happy, Happy Thursday, ya'll and welcome. You know what today is - "Redwork Thursday"!❤❤😀

 Since Thursdays are my babysitting day, I dedicate stolen moments to embroidery work. Otherwise, I am enjoying every minute with my grandbabies. 🧒🧒

We are down to block 11 ; one more to go. Frosty is enjoying a little "Play Time" in this  block. Playing with his shovel and forming the perfect snowballs to toss. 

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN FUN FUN!!!  

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.  

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil . 

3. Embroider the design .  I used a back stitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stem stitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.  I used 1 strand of 498 for the details in the snowman's face.   

4. On the snowflakes , I used a French Knot at the end of 4 of the points . You do not have to include the French Knot or you may want to add a teeny bead at each point . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2".

Ya'll all know Rae Rae , the birdie in the Frosty quilt.

Rae Rae was a gift from my grandbaby. 

 Well, she has joined me in the sewing room today. I have been cutting a few strips of fabric.

         

 I think I will do a simple finish like I did with  my "Coopie the Snowman " quilt. 

This is my favorite winter quilt that I completed a few years ago . It is named after my nephew who would sit on my lap as I drew snowman coloring pages for him. He would tell me what the snowman should be doing . I transferred those coloring pages in to this quilt. These were a little more elaborate to draw than Frosty.

 I took Coopie out to the farm for a few photos.

The cows thought I was crazy .

 So did Elvis. He looks sorta annoyed. 

Then photos on the gate.  A little bit windy.

Nuclear Meltdown ,Prim Winter Blessings Home, and Love you!

 Good morning, my dears. Happy happy Tuesday. 

Oh,  let me tell you a story! It's a mystery/ tall tale ! 

 I about had a nuclear meltdown last night.  Can you believe it ?  I sure did. What happened you ask? 

Well last week I had intended to fully finish a cross stitch piece called Prim Winter Blessings Home that I had just finished. I "remembered" that I took it into the sewing room to audition some frames. I never did finish it .   

So last night,  I happily went to the sewing room to finish my piece. I looked ,and I looked.👀👀

 Prim Winter Blessings Home was gone!!!!  

I shuffled through fabrics - No Winter Blessings! I shuffled through the fabrics again!!! No Winter Blessing !!! Yikes !! I was on the verge of panic. Then fabrics began to fly through the air. Where could it be?

         

 I ran to my stitchy spot in the living room and frantically went through my project bags and boxes. No Winter Blessings! 

 A flash went through my head -  "Oh no ", I told myself , "This is 2018 Lizzie Kate Summer Smalls  all over again. "  What is 2018 LK Summer Smalls you ask. Well that is an ongoing case . I stitched LK Summer smalls , fully finished it, and then it mysteriously  disappeared.🔍- a total mystery.  I filed a  MCSR  , a Missing Cross Stitch Report, and it is still under investigation to this very  day👮🚓 😄. In fact if you drive through my neighborhood you might see a billboard for the missing cross stitch. 😀😂

Any whooo! Winter Blessings was gone. So I ran downstairs in tears on a verge of a nuclear meltdown. Mr. Pinker asked what was wrong . Tearfully, I wailed,  "Its' gone; its just plain gone"! 

Mr Pinker  reassured me and said that he would help look. As we went upstairs, he asked what does it look like. Being one great for detail, I replied, "Well , its on cross stitch fabric and has a house on it" . 

 Though I was not facing him, the eyes in the back of my head saw his eyes roll and he replied "Hmmm that narrows it down a bit". Lol.( Ya'll know my "house cross stitch obsession." ) 

I went to the couch and plopped down . I slowly shuffled through my floss box resigned that a burglar  had to have broke in and in awe of its beauty,  snatched my Prim Winter Blessings Home . What other rational explanation could there be ???? 

 As I was about to make a call to the appropriate authorities, all of a sudden Mr. Pinker opened up my project box and right on top was "Prim Winter Blessings  Home "smiling brightly at him. I swear I went through those bags and boxes 250 times. Lol. 

So to make a long story short my nuclear meltdown was averted.   But now the question is - How did it get in the project box? Hmmm.  🔎 😁😀  The mystery continues. Lol. 

So you can see that I did fully finish Prim Winter Blessings Home . Thankfully , I had the perfect size frame for it so it was a quick finish.   I hope to create a Spring version  in the future.

I am getting into Valentines stitching. 

"Love You!" is a quick simple stitch . I stitched it in just 45 minutes . Just choose your favorite floss color, and you can go to town on this one and have it completed in two blinks of an eye.  This is a dough bowl filler kinda stitch.

Mason Jar Monday

Good Monday morning, ya'll. 

Come on in ! It is warm and toasty inside though there is a plethora of snowmen everywhere. 

My tiered tray by the corner kitchen sink is jam packed with snowmen salt and pepper shakers, snowmen and Smores mugs. 

 You smell that ? The pot is a brewing!

I'm sorry ; it's not anything yummy like cheddar potato soup or white bean chili. You wanna see ? 

Yep! It's fabric brewing. I bet you guessed that. Cookin' up a batch of 14 count aida in a coffee/tea bath. After seeing dear Cheryl's fabric on Instagram , I had to put a batch in the pot.Cheryl had some yummy looking fabrics, and she said she added a dash of vanilla.  I've been taking down my Christmas, but if it is pieces that I can justify leaving out longer I'm keeping those winter pieces out ,  like the Glad Tidings quilt a design by Pam Buda and my barn cookie jars on top of my hoosier.

 

Today is Mason Jar Monday.

 I am working on my mason jar quilt. 

I haven't decided what I am going to name it yet.  I finished the embroidery work on my Snowman Jar. 

This past week I worked on my Birdie Jar.  

Aren't they cute together? Just using shirtings and scraps for this one. I'm not purchasing a bit of fabric.  

 Today I will  start pulling fabric for block 3. I have been doodling . So I have an idea.

It is going to be a mason jar stitch like  Autumn Jar Pinkeep freebie that I posted in September of last year.

Hmmm! Maybe this snowman has a face only a mother could love.

 I'm still  on the fence about  this guy.

 Well I'm off to stitch and play with fabric . Please do tell,  what are  your plans, my dears?  I would love to be enabled into another project. 😀
