Good morning, Sweet friends. How are you this lovely day?
I hope you are doing well.
It's been three years today since my sweet sis received her angel wings.
Today I will be visiting her as I do everyday , but I will be changing out her flowers. I will then sit on the bench and talk to my sis as I look for a sign that she hears my words of love. Usually my signs , come in the form of a butterfly , the caw of a crow, or a sweet scent. That might sound silly, but I do believe in signs from our loved ones.
I stitched a little berry for my sis . It is called IN MY HEART SHE BLOOMS . It has a bouquet of flowers in bloom .
It is a simple stitch, but pretty nonetheless- well at least in my eyes. 🤗
Two bright blue butterflies flank the flower .
Amy had bright blue eyes so how befitting.
My sister was a little tom boy growing up. She was a country girl through and through, but she also had a fiesty feminine side to her so I zhuhzhed the strawberry cap with bits of wool, lace, and homespun.
I stitched large wonky x's along the seam on the back of IN MY HEART SHE BLOOMS. They are not perfect, but perfectly prim and right .
I stitched IN MY HEART BLOOMS on 14 count tea/ coffee dyed aida. I used a generous amount of aida in order to cut out my berry , but the design size is around 80 x 52.
There are 12 DMC floss colors in this little berry including: 451, 522, 730, 801, 807, 814, 844, 930, 932, 3687, 3782, 3823

Thank you so much for taking time to stop by to see my Amo's berry. I wish you a beautiful day and as Amo would say "Love ya' and see ya' later" .
P.S. I will be posting a Tutorial on how I finish my berries around 12:00 CST. I am no expert , but I will show the steps on how I finished this berry. 🤗
As Always...
Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

ReplyDeleteAah thank you so much, Darlene. I am very happy with how the berry came out. I have it displayed nearby so I can look at it often as I think of her. I hope you have a beautiful day, sweet friend. Hugs.
DeleteWhat a lovely and wonderful post. The designs for your sister are really beautiful. I am sure your sister watches over you. And yes, I do believe in signs from above. I lost my dear husband 9 years ago but sometimes I think he is around. Little signs I realize. You can call me crazy but I am sure he is still with me.

DeleteSuch a lovely remembrance piece for your sister, Amy, Melisa--;))))
ReplyDeleteIt is not silly to think her spirit visits you; often I get visits in my dreams from close family who have gone on ahead....
. My Mom used to say "Your Dad visited me in last night's dream", after he passed way too early...I think your tribute pieces keep her close in your heart...Lovely works
Hugs, Julierose
Oh thank you so much, Julierose. My grandmothers visit me a lot in my dreams which is always so comforting. Now most mornings I awake early with a song in my head that reminds me of my sis ; I think that is a sign from her too. Thank you again for the words of comfort. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
DeleteIt's beautiful, Melisa. What a lovely treasure. My dd and family have an almost flock of cardinals that live by them and always say Grandma or Grandpa are visiting. Have a lovely day. Blessings
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet. I bet your DD looks for the cardinals each day that she goes out too. When my Nanny was sick, a cardinal would perch on the windowsill . I always think of her when I see a cardinal. It is wonderful that you dd sees the cardinals as a sign of her grandparents. I am sure that brings comfort. Have a blessed day. Hugs

I definitely believe in signs from our loved ones. Mine are usually in dreams, but I need to be still more often to watch for other signs as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI believe Amy would have loved her berry too. She always wanted to take over the family berry farm. Bless her heart. I look for signs daily. They bring comfort to me when I see them. ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much , Jeanna for the sweet visit and words of comfort. It was a joy to stitch this piece . It is a simple berry , but I tried to add little things that reminded me of her.
