One Scoop or Two ? Flaming Butterflies

Good morning, Sweetness. Welcome do come in!

Peach ice cream  is ready for your morning treat.

It's going to be a hot one today! So why not start the morning off with a big bowl of ice cream. Aaah come on, I won't tell! Hee! Hee! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€ One scoop or two?

After eating the homemade ice cream while at the tractor pull, Mr. Pinker bought an ice cream maker as soon as we got home. It is a Nostalgia 6 quart.

Yesterday , I called Mr. Pinker while he was out and about and said - "The word is that Freestone Peaches are in at the fruit stand. πŸ˜€ Hint, Hint, " So Mr. Pinker beelined to the fruit  stand and picked us up a basket of juicy sweetness.

By the end of the evening , most of the peaches were chopped, and our creamy mixture had been prepared ready to pour into the ice cream maker.  Yum! Yum!

The ingredients are ready for ice cream making.

Now let's talk about quilting!

Flaming Butterflies is all pieced.

You saw this quilt a few weeks ago without the borders.

Flaming Butterflies before the border.

I ended up adding a triple yellow border with nine patch cornerstones.

Each block is 15" finished. That bright yellow butterfly is my favorite. It is a ray of sunshine like my sweet sis was. πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸŒžπŸ’›

This quilt has 10 scrappy butterflies.

The alternate block is the Whatcha MaCall It  blocks that I shared earlier this year.

The butterflies were from a large bag of butterfly appliques that I purchased at the thrift store. Hmmm I do need to show you that bag sometime. It is filled to the brim with butterflies.

This quilt is in memory of my sis , who Papa called Flaming Amy. She was a spitfire.πŸ”₯πŸŽ‡ I finished Flaming Butterflies just in the knick of time . I will put it in the hoop tomorrow.  Tomorrow marks three years πŸ˜”πŸ˜’πŸ’”. How can that be?

This will be my comfort quilt that I  will work on for the rest of the year.  I hope to add messages of love to Amy on the back of the quilt like I did last year with my Butterfly Kisses.

Butterfly Kisses from Heaven completed in 2023

If the sun shines and the creek doesn't rise, I hope to share a stitch in memory of my sister tomorrow. Here is a sneak peek.

SNEAK PEEK  of " In My Heart She Blooms"

I would be honored if you drop by  see it tomorrow. πŸ€—

Amy loved the farm.

Well Sweeties, I better stop gabbing because we have ice cream to eat, and I am sure you have stitching or quilting to work on.  Have a beautiful Wednesday and...

 As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

Melisa

    1. Oh thank you so much, Joy . The quilt turned out better than I imagined. I have really enjoyed appliqueing the scrappy butterflies. These were the 1st peaches that we have had this year and they were sweet. This was also our 1st time using the ice cream maker. I used Lori's recipe from Whipperwill Holler on Youtube . I think the video is called "The Best Peach Ice Cream and So Easy" . We would have liked our to be a tad sweeter, but it was still yummy. A friend has shared a recipe using eggs so we are going to try that very soon. I will share it when we make it. It sounds yummy as well. Have a blessed day. Hugs

  10. What a coincidence! Santa (me) gave my husband a new, but vintage looking, ice cream maker for Christmas last year. It can be crank or electric. He has already made ice cream but just this week we picked up some fresh peaches. They are currently ripening on the counter and we will have peach ice cream in a couple of days. I love Flaming Butterflies and look forward to the new stich tomorrow. Hugs to you as you remember Amy.

My mouth is watering for the peach ice cream, unfortunately I’m lactose intolerant, so I’ll have to pass. I’m so sorry about your sister. I’m truly lucky to have my 3 sisters in my life and that we have made a huge effort to get together with each other throughout the year. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Good afternoon, Gail. I was happy with how the quilt came together. For some reason, I always think of yellow when I think of my sis. The white border has wee strawberries in it which my sis would have loved. It is so wonderful that you and your sisters are close and have the opportunity to get together as much as possible. I still have 2 other siblings that I see often. I saw my youngest sister was the most like me and we saw each other everyday. I wish you a great day as well. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

I saw my first one in the past week or so and I'm always reminded of her! And oh the memories that ice cream maker brings back. We would pick the peaches from our trees and mama would make peach ice cream and we kids would take turns sitting on the maker and turning the crank! If you sat too long you had a frozen hiney! Peach ice cream ~ heavenly (I picked up a peach at our local farm stand and it was $4.85 - for the 1 yikes I was so shocked ~ Your peach prices must be much lower) I am in awe of your memory quilt for your sister. I have lost 2 brothers and you have just inspired me to make one for my mom. Thank you :) PS, you mentioned putting your quilt in the hoop above, are you a hand quilter? All my quilts are hand pieced and stitched.

They were yummy though. Aaaw I am so touched that you found inspiration to make your mom a rememberance quilt . That just warms my heart. Oh yes, I am a hand quilter. I never got the hang of machine quilting. I guess that is why it takes me so long to make quilts, but I enjoy the process. I machine piece most of the time , but all of my applique and quilting is strictly by hand. It is so nice to hear that you enjoy had quilting yourself. It is relaxing isn't it?
