Summer Cabin - A Late Summer Freebie

Hello Sunshine! And a very lovely day to you!

I finished a quick wee stitch with some of my favorite things- a cabin, the flag and a sunflower.  Is it ok if I say that I think it is as cute as a button? Hee! Hee! 😁😀❤🤗

This is called Summer Cabin

For a quick finish, I just framed it with 2 inch unfinished fabric strips and then quilted it in the ditch.  Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!  After adding a little blue binding,- Wahlah! -I had a cute little quilt to add to my table.

Did you notice my little stack of bowls? They are old salad bowls that I painted. In one, I have taken strips of fabric and covered Easter eggs and made little rag balls from scraps as well. I can not stand to throw away anything. Lol. Not even the teeniest bits of scraps.

Alrighty, y'all that is my wee share for the day. I do need to be working on fall stitching . Gosh I am so far behind, but I have found that I am seasonal stitcher and like to focus on whatever season it is. How about you? Are you a seasonal stitcher or quilter?

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

  4. Love your new design! Thank you. I'm not a very seasonal stitcher unless you count Christmas ornaments I make for family. I don't do seasonal quilts - I usually quilt what's going on - for instance, my son called yesterday and said he was getting married to his girl friend of 3 years. So, another quilt to be made! And that's how I quilt! LOL!

    1. I love that, Donna!  Just working on what you want when you want. I have gotten to where I enjoy creating quilts that can be out for any season though I still love my patriotic and fall quilts. Aah , Congratulations to your  son on his upcoming marriage. I wish him and his bride to be the very best. I am sure you and the whole family are excited.  So you have some planning to do.  Have you already figured out a design for the quilt and color? I know it will be a beauty.   Have a fabulous evening. Hugs.

  5. Your summer cabin stitchery came out beautifully. I tend to be a whatever I feel like stitcher. Problem is I don't feel like hand stitching at all these days. Hope you find some fun fall themes for your next project.

Or I will just want to focus on one project or another which is hard when another part of my mind wants to work on them all. LOL. Thank you so much for the Tuesday visit, Kate. Enjoy your afternoon. Hugs.

    1. It sounds like you have a busy day in store for you. I hope your hair appointment goes well. It will be nice to get some rain and cooler temps. We are not expecting rain until maybe next week, but the temps are supposed to go up. Yikes! LOL. I do use a bit of hot glue to tack the fabric strips to the eggs or round balls. I made those years ago and have been saving strings to make a few more. Have a great evening, Julierose.

    1. That is what I would like to do , Jeanna. I have certain days that I spend a few minutes on "different seasonal stitches" but I would love for my main focus to be a season ahead. Oh well, I guess as long as we are enjoying the process. LOL. Thank you so much, Jeanna. Have a great evening. Hugs.

  10. Summer Cabin reminds me of an Irish log cabin that sat on the property my parents rented when I was a kid. The cabin is part of the local historical museum now.

    1. Oh how interesting, Meari. It is good to know that the cabin is being preserved for others to enjoy now. I have an affection for log cabins. My Granny lived in one for many years.
Thank you for the sweet Tuesday visit. Have a blessed day.

    1. This was a fun one not only to stitch but to finish. I do need to make more "quilted finishes" for my cross stitch. I think I am about ready for fall too, especially after seeing that fall decor is coming out in stores. I can not wait to see your fall projects, Diann. Hugs.

  14. What a great companion piece to "Summer". Both have the wonderful late summer sunflowers. I was beginning to wonder about you. It's been a little bit since we had a visit. Hope all is well. How is your garden? We've been harvesting pretty regular here. Tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, green beans. All tastes so good and fresh! I need to buy some bacon. Got a hankering for a BLT with fresh tomatoes. Doesn't that sound good?!

    1. Both of these were fast stitches and I love that I can bring them out early and leave them out until Labor Day. We have been doing pretty good in the holler. Just staying busy with the grandkids and running around on camping trips. Well the garden is done for the year. It just did not produce. We do have a few tomatoes - enough to keep our tummies filled. We have also visited a farm a county over for produce. Mmmm a BLT sounds delicious! I had a big ole mater sandwich with mayonnaise the other day. There is nothing like fresh maters. I had a wonderful slice of sweet watermelon for lunch today. It sounds like your garden has been bountiful. How wonderful to have all of those veggies ripe for the picking. Hugs and Blessings.
