A Jammy Kinda Day

 Good Sunday morning. It's a good day to pull your hair into a messy bun,  stay in your jammies, and stitch the day away.

 Let's go outside! It is a bit chilly so put on your robe!

             

 I pulled out this quilt to work on . I have been spending 15- 20  minutes a day on it this week. 

Hoping to get 2 blocks a day completed. I will be working on it again today. I bought this top years ago at the World's Longest Yard Sale.  

Speaking of thrifty finds. Mr. Pinker and I went thrifting in Alabama earlier this week. My great find was this quilt top. 

It had a tag that said "Made by Ray Ford's mom" . I have been trying to find a Ray Ford in that area but have yet to find him.

 I look forward to quilting it, but have so many large quilts in the hoops right now so it will have to wait. But that is not going to stop me from enjoying it. I draped it over a bench for display in the kitchen.

 I also got Hubby to hang the coat hook where I added some thrifted doilies  that I got Tuesday as well.  Oh yes! I still have my barn cookie jar out. Though it is a Christmas cookie jar, I am leaving it out a few more days. 😀

I finished my Snowman Recipe little quilt the other day. 

I used strips of dad's shirt for the binding. 

One of my cross stitch projects for the day will be "Grateful Heart Sampler " which is by Little House Needleworks. 

It is an older design that was in " Love to Cross Stitch" November 2000 magazine. I was gifted this design a couple of years ago and love to pull it out at Thanksgiving and Valentines to work on.  Eeeh! I am so close to a finish .

Hall of Snowmen and a Winter Tree Sampler-

Happy , happy Saturday!!! It's another cold one here. I'll be bundling up and heading to  the grandbabies ' basketball games here soon.  Oh, those little ones are so cute to watch. Most of them can not throw high enough to get a goal, but boy, do they try.  

Well I thought I would take you on another segment of "Country Clutter Tour" . Lol .Today we will be touring the  Hall of Snowmen. ( Oh, if you see any dust bunnies, please excuse them- I've been stitching when I should have been dusting. ) 

 Every winter I put out all kinds of snowmen in my narrow foyer/hall. I have a little tree decked out in mittens.

                      

Sweeping Snowflakes is an older With Thy Needle and Threads piece that I finished on a Walmart whisk broom. 

     

I have 3 shutters that I found at the Goodwill propped against the wall. I change out the quilts seasonally on them. My favorite is my Coopie Snowman quilt that I embroidered a few years ago.

          

 The little Snowman in the top hat quilt was a thrift store find that I purchased last year. This is it's first year in the Hall of Snowmen. 

      

 Chill Out is a Lizzie Kate stitch that I stitched for my  oldest daughter. 

 The Snowman pocket is my adaption of Kim Diehl's "Snowman Door Hanger" . It is a free design at All People Quilts ( Click the name to see that pattern).  

         

Much to Mr. Pinker's dislike - lol -  my doors inside are adorned with wreath's or quilts.  A little Mittens quilt hangs from a mitten holder.

This guy makes me smile- Look at that nose !!!  

My white shelf is crammed full. 

On that  shelf is an old drawer from my Granny's ; I turned it on its side and use it as a shelf. On the top of it is an embroidery I did a few years ago and finished it on a silver tray.

 The little snowman cross stitch was a freebie. Does anybody know who it is by? I can not remember.  

Tucked in the drawer is a free stitch called Winter by  Balades et broderies par Camela . It is  available on her blog in the Jan. 20, 2013 post.

 I did make some changes- I added a border , left off the stars and a few other little changes. Also I have With Thy Needle and Thread's Candy Cane Wishes though I  have not found a piece that I want to mount it on.  

The last stitch on the shelf is my Winter Tree Sampler. 

I could not figure out how to finish it. I did not have a frame so I opted for a pillow finish. Better finished and on display than in the shameful "Need to Finish " pile.

A Box of Chocolates

Good evening, ya'll. Welcome. I am just popping in with a quick post  to show you what I've been up to today. 

I've been playing with scraps. Lots of reds. 

 My sewing machine has been humming along. 

Worked on Box of Chocolates by Temecula Quilt Company a free pattern on Temecula's blog in the January 25, 2019 post.

  It was a super quick quilt to piece. I made mine a bit bigger than the original pattern.

Frosty McChill Block 12 Winter Time!

Good frosty morning, to you my sweet friends. 

                

Are you staying all warm and cozy. Yesterday was a whopping 60 degrees here in the holler, oh but not this morning. Rain moved through during the night and we dropped to the low 30's with  a bit of wintery mix. Oh, dear mother nature is taking us on a winter roller coaster ride. 🌞🎢❄

Can you believe it ? This is the last of the Frosty McChill blocks.

 I tell ya', I  have loved every bit of stitching and sharing this little guy. He was pretty busy too wasn't he? From sledding to skiing all the way to holding a march for more snow. 😀☃

            

I just love seeing them all together. Lol

The last block is called "Winter Time". 

Sweet ole' Frosty in his top hat. I bet some of ya'll will have him stitched up by dinner time. 

  INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN FUN FUN!!!  

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.  

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil . 

3. Embroider the design .  I used a back stitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stem stitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.  I used 1 strand of 498 for the details in the snowman's face.   

4. On the snowflakes , I used a French Knot at the end of 4 of the points . You do not have to include the French Knot or you may want to add a teeny bead at each point . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2".

It is going to be a simple finish. Fabrics are cut, but I still need to cut out the outer borders. Then the sewing machine will be a humming.

Winter Jar- A Winter Freebie

Good afternoon, friends. I've been busy finishing up some projects. 

The other day after spending the evening with the grandkids and having some good old fashioned fun in the snow on the mountain (nope, no snow in the valley), I finished my Let It Snow Sampler. I did make some changes.

 I added more snowflakes - willy nilly . I stitched the words and border in DMC 930 and the snowflakes in white.

I finally finished my Winter Jar. 

       

This mason jar is crammed full with a snowman who has a face that only a mother could love. Lol. Of course, I had to add some cardinals to the mix. I am on a cardinal kick right now too.
