Spring Stamp SAL Reveal and a Spring Buffet Tour

Happy Saturday, ya'll.  That's  all she wrote. The Spring Stamp SAL has come to an end.

Spring Stamp and STAMP 4-The Hatchlings

What a wonderful time I had sharing my  sweet bluebird on its grand adventure in the gardens. We saw flowers, bees, butterflies and even a birdbath.  I can not thank you enough for following along.

I finished my Spring Stamp Collection in an 8" x 10" thrifted frame. It was originally painted gold, but I dry brushed white paint on it to lighten it up. I added 1 layer of batting behind my stitching.

I also made 10 pin pillows  to fill my dough bowl.

I bought this wooden bowl at the Dollar General for $6.00 last year. I used it for my Autumn Stamps.

It is made up of a very light weight wood. I would love to purchase another one and paint it white for spring and summer stamps.  Don't you think that would look cute?

A Sweet visitor to my garden

Every Birdie Welcome - Spring Tree

I'm Back!!!! 😀😁
Good afternoon, ya'll. Two posts in one day - oh here I go again- Miss Jabber Jaws!!!
I won't chat your ears off though . I promise  - Well maybe not.😜 😃

I have been gardening today. Nah not outside but inside !

I decorated my raggedy ole' white Christmas tree in the garden theme.

I keep this tree out year round and decorate it for the season or holidays.   A few week's ago I shared my Easter Tree which was decorated in cross stitch and lots of bunnies and such. Well I took those things down today and added birdhouses , flowers , seed packets and stitching - Oh yes you will find the kitchen sink in that tree too!!!😂 It is crammed full isn't it?

This is an old 6 ft tree that I place inside an old bushel basket that has to be from the 1970's because it was my Nanny's and I remember her painting it. She used to have it in her sewing room and stored scrap fabrics in it.   Now it holds old small kitchen appliances with a  little raggedy tree stuffed ontop of that . Lol.

No garden tree would be complete without a sly kitty welcoming every birdie.

For my topper I used a birdhouse sign that I have had for 25+ years. I also added lots of flower picks.

I just jammed those large birdhouses in the tree and wrapped the limbs around them to secure them in place.

Lots of stitching including the Prairie Schooler Bunnies  from book 178 and Heart in Hands Needleart's Grow Whiligig  , dear Stacy gifted me that chart. .

I will enjoy this Spring tree for a few weeks until I put up my patriotic tree which is always my favorite.

I spy a sweet gift from my dear friend, Robin- the quilt stitched ornament. I keep it our year round.  🤗❤❤

On the little doll high chair, I draped a small yellow and red quilt and ole' Mr. Cock a Doodle Doo on it.   I pulled out a metal watering can added one of my Dollar Tree bunnies and an antique bug sprayer to it.

The blue truck which was on my buffet is now filled with small quilts rolled up.

Alrighty , ya'll. I didn't ramble on too much. I was just so excited and wanted to show you my country clutter of a tree.  In a few weeks, I will share my Patriotic tree, but if you would like to see 2021's  Patriotic tree, just click the colored text.

Thank you for dropping in for an afternoon visit.

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Spring Stamp SAL- Stamp 9 The Birdhouse

Eeeh ! Or should I say   Chirp!!! Chirp!!!

We have made it to the end of the Spring Stamp SAL . Happy Friday, ya'll and welcome!

I have had a ball sharing the Spring Stamps , and I am so grateful to all of you who have cheered me on. Thank you for visiting, stitching, and for the sweet compliments. Ya'll are the best!!!

Well did you guess what stamp #9 would be? We had to have a birdhouse didn't we?

It warms my pea pickin' heart to see all of the stamps in one collection.

I will share the large piece framed and finished tomorrow .

If you are interested in stitching along with me, place grab the image below.

Many of ya'll know but I always encourage you to read my little disclaimer and note about getting my charts.  ⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇

NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues.  Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print.  I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

TIPS ON PRINTING THE CHART

So many sweet stitching friends have shared different ways in which they are able to get the charts. I would like to share them with you.

*TIP 1- One of my dear stitching friends told me exactly how she was able to print the chart to the correct size.

Using her phone she saved the image of the chart to her photo gallery and then emailed it to herself. From her computer or whatever device she was using she was able to then print the chart from her email and it came out without resizing it. It worked for her, maybe it would work for you if you are having trouble.

* TIP 2 . Another stitchy friend said she did the same as in TIP 1  using her phone , but rather than emailing the chart to herself. She connects her phone directly to the printer and prints from there. Hmm! I learned something new again. 😀

* TIP  3 Another dear stitcher said she enlarged the chart on her browser and then took a screen shot of it and then printed it.  She also saved the screenshot to her photos on her iPad for reference.

* TIP  4 Another  sweet stitchy friend said she clicks on the photos, presses the screen save buttons and then edits until she finds the photo she wants and then saves to photos. But she does not print it from photos because it comes out too small so she then saves it to books and  prints from there as an A4 size page.   How ingenious!! It works for her.

* TIP  5  Another option shared by another dear stitchy friend , said she right clicks the image. Several options will pop up Click  "Open image in new tab". Right click this new image and click "Save Image as..." Title it and hit save. It will save to your download file. Open and print.

* TIP 6  Another sweet stitchy friend gave a great tip on how she creates a pdf to save for later.  On the iMac she saves each page to the downloads folder. The she uses "Command" & left clicks to select each file IN ORDER. Then wile all are highlighted , she right clicks and goes down to "Quick Actions" and selects "Create PDF" All 3 jpegs are tuned into one PDF file that she then renames to the pattern and moves it where she wants. She then deletes the jpg files to save space. When she is ready to stitch it she prints out her charts.

* TIP 7 If you are using a computer , you might try this tip shared by another sweet friend. Right click on the page you want. Save. Right click on the image- Open with "Paint" Click on Resize. Change size of image from 100 to 200 pixels. Click OK- Then click SAVE. This saves the new size in the same folder the small sized file was.

---If you have any other tips, I would greatly appreciate it . Ya'll know I am not too tech savvy. I do well to have got this far. 😂😏

Say What? Blog Hop- A Farmyard Visit

Put on your farm boots for we are heading out to the farm today!  You might want to grab your hat too. Gotta keep cool when doing farm work.  Don't we?

All week Joan at Moosestash Quilting has been hosting the Say What? Blog Hop where you share a quilt with a story or perhaps a word quilt. Thank you Joan for the great challenge.

OK what should we do? Let's look in the barn.

There are all of the poles to hang tobacco. The sheds had poles too. Some still remain hanging.

Should we relocate the tobacco sticks? That would be back breaking work. There is 50 sticks to a bundle. Some of the sticks are over 100 years old having been handed down to dad from older farmers long ago.

Well I bet you can guess what my quilt is all about. It is a story quilt of our farm. So pull up a hay bale and let me tell you about it.

I grew up on a tobacco farm. We grew a few acres of burley tobacco . The last crop was planted in 2005  .So I decided to create a quilt in honor of our farm crop.

This quilt is pieced from scraps, hand appliqued and hand quilted. The words " Burley Tobacco Grower" is embroidered in the strips.

As a child, my job was to help plant,  pick up the sticks of tobacco once they were harvested and help hang the tobacco onto the poles in the barn.

I used the reverse of some of the fabrics for the leaves. I also embroidered details in the leaves.

As an adult. I drove the tractor, and  again heaved those staked tobacco sticks  onto the tobacco wagon.

This is one of dad's tobacco cutters. He painted the handle yellow so he could see it for he is color blind, and it would be easy to spot in a field of tobacco.

When cutting tobacco , he would take a stick , tap it into the ground, place a tobacco spear on top of the stick and then cut a stalk of tobacco and spear it toward the bottom of the stalk. Depending on the size 4-6 stalks of tobacco would go on a stick.

The background of the fabric is small scraps of fabric pieced together.

Old tobacco spears

Did you notice that I included a water jug in the field?  Mom would save milk jugs and freeze water in them.  In the hot August heat , the water would melt quickly . Oh, how refreshing the ice cold water was while working in the field. . The same was done during hay season as well.

Any whoo!  The staked tobacco would stay in the field until evening time so it would wilt down a bit and by dusk ,my siblings and I  would be riding on the hay/ tobacco wagon as   the tractor chugged down the hill to the tobacco field. Then we would begin loading the tobacco. In no time, we would have it hung from the poles in the barn and there it would stay well spaced in order to have good  circulation  . It would be cured and  during the winter time, dad and mom would grade and bale it and have it ready for market  by mid winter.

Well ya'll ,we didn't get any farm work done, but that is okay for we had such a lovely visit. I sure appreciate you taking the time to visit the farm .

There is no life like farm life - well at least in my eyes.

Well, hello there. We have a visitor !

Have a beautiful day and if you have the chance stop in and visit all of the other ladies on the blog . You know they are going to have lovely quilts, projects and stories to tell.

As always...
