Back to the Barn Friday- A Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Here we go again! Put on those farm boots and throw on some overalls for we are heading back to the barn!

Happy Friday, ya'll ! Before we head out , grab you a mug of tea  or coffee and don't forget -- the  fresh baked biscuits are on the stove. We can not begin the afternoon on an empty stomach.

While you are eating, let me tell you about Sweet Petunia. Do you  remember me telling you about her in October ?

Oh, that has been awhile, I better refresh your memory. Back in October somebody dumped sweet Petunia out at the farm drive way. Of course, the neighboring farmers alerted us right away, and soon we  were told  that a strange truck had been in the neighborhood around dusk.  Hmmm! I wonder if they were the culprits.

Mr. Pinker  tried to find her owners and even inquired on the local radio station, but alas, still  no one has claimed her.  We believe that since it is known by many that we have a pig farm that someone was tired of feeding her and dropped her off at the farm.

Petunia is still at the farm and has a ferocious appetite. Should I say she eats like a hog!!! 😁😅. Anyway I have been calling her Sweet Petunia, but .......Mr. Pinker told me the other day that she was not at all sweet. 😳🐷🐖 He said every time he enters the pen she grunts loudly and then charges. What! I exclaimed! With a face like that  I can not imagine her being anything but sweet.

The other day, Mr. Pinker and I took the grandbabies out to the farm . They love jumping the round bales and soon they made their way to the pig pen. While I was around the corner looking at the bees, I heard the little one say ,  "I am going to get in there."  I quickly made my way back to the front of the pig pen to see what "Little Bit "was doing, and by golly he had climbed the fence and got in the pen with Petunia.

I was ready to jump the pen myself, but Sweet Petunia just gave a piggy smile and slowly waddled  up to Little Bit who held a Nutty Buddy treat in his hand. He then fed her and Petunia looked quite pleased.

I looked at Mr. Pinker and said I don't see anything but Petunia being as sweet as button.  Little Bit and Sweet Petunia got along just fine and there was no charging or grunting. After Petunia ate her sweet treat, she walked calmly away and laid down with the rest of the piggies. All was well in the barnyard.  So now I am wondering what pig is Mr. Pinker talking about. 🤔

And with that I wanted to share with you " Penelope the Christmas Pig" the newest  addition to the Barnyard Christmas series.   Nope I didn't name it after Petunia but after a sweet white pig.

The Christmas Pig sports a wreath like Margie the Christmas Horse and  Heart the Christmas Cow .

This is the perfect Farmhouse Friday Stitch. Remember  a Farmhouse Friday stitch is anything that reminds you of farms or the good ole' days.

If you are interested in stitching Penelope the Christmas Pig  ,grab the images below. Many of ya'll know but I always encourage you to read my little disclaimer and note about getting my charts.

NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues.  Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print.  I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

Alrighty, now that we have chatted and ate, are you ready to head out the the barn? Hmmm! I have an idea.💡😀 How about let's just sit and stitch, and we will let Mr. Pinker go out and clean the pig pen. He doesn't mind, and  I think we would have a lot more fun stitching the day away . Don't you?

 As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll

Margie the Christmas Horse- A Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Good morning ya'll.

Look what has came out. All of my Barnyard Christmas ornaments. They make me so happy and bring back a lot of memories. ! 😍🤗

Last week you met Heart the Christmas Cow.

My newest addition is called Margie the Christmas Horse.

Years ago my youngest daughter begged for a horse. She and her best friend would ever so often go and ride horses at one of her friend's relatives. So Little Miss S. just had to have a horse. At the time horses around here were quite expensive. But my daughter's friend put us in touch with a nice lady who rescued horses.

One day , Mr. Pinker and Little Miss S. went to see all of horses. Of course Mr. Pinker had towed the cattle trailer just in case they found the perfect riding horse . Sure enough when they arrived back home, the trailer had a horse in it.

Little Miss S. gave her the name Margie . Margie was a sweety . In fact, she had been a fine horse in her day , but now she was very old,  and a little  on the thin side. We had the vet come look at her as well as a local horse expert , and they told us that despite being thin she was healthy and nothing was wrong with her.

I was a bit perplexed as why Little Miss S. had to have her since she was so old and could not be ridden, but she fell in love with her  plus she was free. 😀😊🐎🏇🐴. So Margie found her home on the farm. Most of the days she lingered outside of   the pig barn  and occasionally  she would stroll down to one of the lower fields. Of course , Little Miss S. soon lost interest as most kids do and Miss Margie was ours to take care of , but that was ok with Mr . Pinker and I .

Margie lived her final couple of years comfortably on our  little pig farm with all of the food she wanted  and deeply loved. So this humble little ornament is in honor of her.

Heart the Christmas Cow - Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Howdy , ya'll.  Grab your farm boots and let's head to the barn.  This is a barnyard post.

Can you pick out which one is named Ears? Lol . They are so cute!

I am fully into Christmas stitching right now. Two years ago I began creating ornaments for my Barnyard Christmas  tree .

This will be the 3rd Christmas in which I decorate with the farm theme.

Here is my first year's Farm tree.

Last year I decided to buy a pencil tree. It was cute, but I could not get all of my ornaments on it and I just like a big over sized tree.

This year the big tree will return to the living room, but the Barnyard ornaments will still be on the pencil tree in the hall.  I just may have to add some of them to a smaller tree as well.

I have been working on some new additions to the tree.  Earlier this year, I fell in love with the way that Rakel on Instagram finished her Barnyard Ornaments. So I ended up copycatting her. I hope you do not mind, Rakel. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

One of my favorite cows that has been on the family farm was a cow named Heart. I wish I had a photo of her but alas I do not. Heart was born and grew up on the farm. She was  such a sweetie; we named her heart because she had a perfect heart shape right in the middle of her forehead.  Sadly, poor heart was struck by lightening two years ago. She is certainly missed.  So this ornament is dedicated to her and is called Heart the Christmas Cow .

Now Rakel found the cutest pack of wooden ornaments on Amazon - a pack of 50. Fortunately, I was able to find them and quickly put in an order for myself. I have been painting them with  Apple Barrel Barn Red paint that I bought at Walmart for under a dollar. I then used sand paper to remove some of the paint.  Dollar tree twine was used as a trim  and for the hanger.  The greenery was cut from an old Christmas wreath. I just added a bit of white paint to make it looked like it is flocked. The bow is a simple strip of homespun that I wrapped some green thread around. If I am lucky enough to find a teeny embellishment for the center of the bow, I will add it later. Rakel found some teeny pinecones for hers.

Christmas on the Farm- A Barnyard Christmas Freebie

Rise and Shine, my friends. Happy Saturday.

Yesterday the skies opened up and it came a gully washer.

We even got some hail. My walnut tree is dragging. How low can the limb go? It is like playing limbo to drive under it.

You can barely see the house . Still I love that walnut tree. It provides me many of walnuts to dye fabric with.

More rain is expected today. Plus we have a heat advisory in effect. How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Well, a little chick told me that I needed to be working on Christmas ornaments because there is only 169 days until Christmas. 😃🎅🎄🤶  How did that happen? July just snuck up on me. How about you?

For the last couple of years, I have been putting up a Barnyard Christmas tree.

This year I will be adding a few more ornaments to my collection. The first one is stitched but not FFOd.

This one is called Christmas on the Farm.

Lookie how teeny those hens are.
