Scrapping Away

I am doing a lot of scrapping!

Cutting strips.

Sewing strips

Reds, Whites and Blues all ready to be pieced.

It is Scrappy Happy Flag time! Welcome, y'all.

Now see I told you- I am still not done with patriotic  projects. 😀

Ten more Scrappy Happy Flags added to  my other happy blocks.

Alycia's " The Ribbon " QOV quilt along begins today. Last week she shared the cutting instructions. Click here   to visit Alycia's introduction to the QAL.  Thank you, Alycia for offering this to us. 🤗

My fabrics are all picked. I am going all the way scrappy.
2" strips waiting and ready. More cutting still be done.
Hmmm what else is going on? 🤔Well...

Straight off my finishing table is  Patriotic Mini Sampler

I took some snippets  of fabric and created a little bow to attach to the corner edge. All done and ready for next year.

Well that is what is going on in the holler on this fine summer's day.

What are you up to?

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Do you believe in signs? The other day when I was cutting fabrics for Alycia's QAL. I came up on some scrap fabrics that I purchased at a yard sale. As I was cutting them into strips . I spotted my sister, Amy's, nickname- "Amo" . I didn't know what "Amo te" meant so I went to Google translate and typed it in. Immediately, it popped up "I love you. " I started crying. Amo often sends me signs. This one was extra special . Do look for signs from your loved ones; you will find them.

Happy Mother's Day

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day  to all of the dear mothers out there. May your day be filled with love , joy and blessings!  ❤🤗

Last night the grandsons and nephews had a sleepover here. Needless to stay they had a ball, and of course stayed up into the wee hours of the morning which is fine with this ole' grandma. 😁😀

Today we will all head over to Mom's for a delectable Mother's Day meal. I am not sure what is on the  menu, but mama's cooking is always wonderful. 😋❤

I plan to take along this small flag quilt. I will put it in a hoop and hand quilt it as Mom and I chat the afternoon  away.

Come evening time, I will continue to pull out my patriotic pieces and hopefully , find a new project to work on-- though I am not sure what right now.

Well, I will keep it short and sweet.

Love ya'!

As Always,

 Happy stitching and quilting, y'all

A Scrappy Patriotic Monday

Are you working on patriotic stitching? I still am!  I just am not ready to move on to another season. 😀 But there is 62 more days until Autumn so I guess I should move on.

Happy Monday, y'all. I fully finished U. S. A. which I shared on my July 13, 2024 post.

Patriotic Mason Jar with U. S. A.

The week before I had purchased this little silver butter tray at the thrift store for a $1.00. I knew I would find a use for it, and by golly, this stitch fit perfectly!

Today I will continue working on more Happy Scrappy Flags.  I shared the measurements for these blocks in my May 20, 2024 post.

This past week I added 20 more to the ever growing stack of flags. I now have a grand total of 100 happy flags.  I have decided to write messages of "patriotism, love and hope " on some of the flags.

Alrighty, I have got some flags to piece so I better get on the move. I wish you a marvelous day .

Hey , do something special for yourself  today; you deserve it. Love ya!

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Year of Hearts Bonus Block Freebie - "Time For Gardening"

Howdy do, Sweet friends!

I finally finished With Thy Needle and Thread's 2009 "May Day Sampler " freebie which Brenda Gervais posted on her blog in the April 26, 2009 post. I used mystery flosses- that is flosses that I lost the label.

More Scrap Happy Flags will be in the works. My nephew gifted me a large bag of fabric last year; in that bag was this Christmas fabric. I am not sure who or what the characters are, but I will cut this into 1 1/2" strips. I have already pieced some of it in this flag block.

Eeeeh! It is Embroidery Thursday !

Today I am sharing a Bonus Year of Hearts block called " Time for Gardening".

Lazy Daisy stitches were made for the leaves of the flowers!   If you have not tried this specialty stitch , it is real easy. Kathy Schmitz has a wonderful tutorial on her Youtube-  Lazy Daisy Stitch.

Chiptastic!

Snip, Cut, Munch!
Buzz, Buzz ,Munch!
Hum , Hum ,Munch
Munch, Crunch, Munch !

What? Eating while sewing? Aaah, why not live dangerously besides I am working on Potato Chip blocks!  😲😋😀

Good morning, Sweet Chippers and Happy Monday!

Well, Vicki at Vicki's Crafts and Quilting got me on the potato  chip kick. After seeing her gorgeous blocks , I had to  make one and of course like any good chip, I could not stop at one.

The vintage Tom's potato chip rack is my newest thrifty find.

2 1/2" strips will do the trick at completing these blocks.

Each strip is 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"

How many chips will I make? Hmmm I am not sure, but I am thinking  42 will be the minimum . Then we will see from there.

As of right now, I am following Vicki's lead and making my blocks 12 1/2" squared (unfinished)

Excuse me a minute- "Mr. Pinker dear, can you bring us some more chips?" Hee! Hee!

Chips are being fried in the iron skillet

Mr. Pinker has been making homemade chips here of lately. Today he seasoned them with Killer Hogs BBQ Rub, and they are oh so yummy!

Please do grab some  and since you are here  grab your rotary cutter and let's get to piecing. I need all of the help I can get!

Ok Sweeties, we are off and running with greasy chips in hand along with fabric! Let's do this!  Have an awesome chiptastic day!!!

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

It usually  hangs from May - September on the wall quilt shelf above the buffet.

My new Scrappy Flag quilt will be bigger than this one.

This is my Monday Making project. Perhaps I will get a few more flags under my belt.  Since this is the focus quilt, nine patches will be moving in as the leader/ ender project. More on that to come.

Thank you for the sweet visit. Have a beautiful start to your week and...
