Pretty in Peach Butterflies Taking a Ride

Good afternoon , Sweet friends and welcome. I hope the first few days of January have been treating you well.  Me? Well - though Mr. Pinker and I have been busy, the year is off to a roaring start. 🌟🎉🎉🥳

I finished the little mug rug made from scraps and strips.

I do apologize for not being able to visit properly these last few days. We have had family in town for the last few weeks . You know what that means- we have been having fun up to our gills!  Yehaw! 😁😃 We have played games, ate too much and had one birthday party after another - four celebrations in fact. Wowzer! December was bussssssy!

On top of all of that, Mr. Pinker and I have been trying to get the camper ready for our winter trip. With the new set up which I showed a few months ago , we have been trying to figure out where to put everything. I will be taking lots of crafts though I am not sure how much stitching and quilting time I will have.
The truck camper set up for camping in October of 2025

Speaking of quilting.😀   Just in the nick of time, I finished piecing Pretty in Peach Butterflies quilt.

This is the 3rd butterfly quilt that I have worked on in honor of my dear sweet sister.

It has been hard to get a good photo of it on these dreary overcast winter days, but I took it out into the yard and tried to get a few happy  snapshots .

The pieced and appliqued blocks each measure 15" finished.  I think the nine patch variation blocks look like flowers. What do you think?

Each butterfly is appliqued on a pretty peach background. I will tell you the story of this quilt holds later as I quilt on it. It is sorta a bitter sweet story.

It is hard to choose a favorite butterfly block, but the brown butterfly reminds me of my sis . Though she was bold and vivacious, she loved earth toned colors.

While her older sis- Me? Hee! Hee! Loves bright colors. But I bet y'all have figured that out.

Pretty in Peach will go into the hoop very soon perhaps it will flutter into the camper and make its way to the wild West where those beautiful scrappy butterflies were appliqued in January of 2025.🦋🦋🦋 Hmmm 🤔we shall see.

Meanwhile a new butterfly quilt will be in the works soon.

Alrighty , Sweeties. I best get off here. We will be on the road soon so my visits or being able to respond may be sporadic since we will be off grid.

Off I go! It is time to ride!

P.S. In the next few days, I  will be posting some backdated posts that I meant to post in December. If you are interested feel free to pop over and visit them. I will give a heads up when I post one.

Have a great day. ❤

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting,

A Happy Scrappy Day

Sunny Saturday Salutations! Welcome, Sweet Peas. How are you doing on this fine Saturday morning? I hope well.

After several days of rain, the sun is supposed to peek through the clouds today. Fingers crossed it makes an appearance.

A rainy day in the holler.

The other day I finally had a chance to sit down to the machine and have a full day of sewing. Boy , was I as happy as a lark as I pieced my red RSC On the Plus Side blocks.  It felt like ages since I had sat down to my machine.

These blocks measure 10 1/2" unfinished.  These scrappy blocks look so pretty all laid out on the floor.

Next up was my Around the Garden blocks. I pieced 5 red blocks. These measure 12  1/2" unfinished.

I will be appliqueing the centers with flowers this  upcoming week.

I rounded out the evening by quilting on my Otis Payne's  Bow Tie quilt.  It is time to move the hoop !

So all in all , it was a very  happy scrappy day!💙💚❤💛💜🤗

Hmmm , so what's on the agenda  for today? Well, I may go with Mr. Pinker to have dinner with his old work buddies or if I stay home, I will be playing in the garden , planting a few seeds and then enjoying the day with the needle and thread.
What are you going to be doing?

 As Always,

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Leafy Table Scrap Challenge

Red , yellow , orange and brown

 Leaves falling  to the ground

Whispering softly  Autumn is here

Cooler weather and Autumn's cheer- MV

Have you started yet?   Started raking leaves ? No, we haven't ,but they are tumbling to the ground especially after the rain that came down this weekend.  We did not lose any trees here in the holler, but on the farm, one cedar tree and an old pear tree came tumbling down from the winds.

Happy  Friday evening, y'all and welcome.

My newest Campbell's mug that I found in north TN at a thrift shop.

It has been a spell since I have participated in Joy's  Tablescrap Challenge at The Joyful Quilter, but as soon as I saw her theme , I decided to jump in with both feet with a wee mug rug.

Of course, I used the "dark" colors " as Angela has suggested for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for the month of September. This was an easy peasy  quilt to piece using leftover strips as I pieced my autumn 16 patch.

I mostly worked with 2" strips for the mug rug.

A few of the logs in the mug rug use leaf fabric.

The backing is a  print by Cranston that I bought this summer on the World's Longest Yard Sale for pennies.

More 16 patches have been constructed.  More on this quilt in progress in a future post.

Alrighty Sweeties, this is just a quick drop in. I had hoped to post earlier, but it was one of those lazy daisy days. Hee! Hee!

Have a wonderful and restful evening and ...

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

What is in the Hoop?

Well hello, dear friends.  I have been busy in the quilt room working on little projects . It has been so relaxing to get in some sewing time. I  just turn up my Christmas music and get into the quilting zone.  Two projects that have been on my agenda to work on is the four patch mug rug and  a little snowman embroidery piece that I embroidered last year. I need to add the binding to each of these little quilts. The little four patch mug rug was a leader/ender project using scraps from other projects.

I did finish putting the binding on this little Halloween  Black Cat quilt . This little quilt did not get completed in time to be displayed for Halloween , but that is ok. He will join the other Halloween quilts already stacked in baskets waiting to be displayed next year.  He is made from scraps gifted to me. It makes me so happy to be able to use these little bits and pieces.

I am in the Christmas mood , so I decided to start a new quilt for the season. I pulled reds and greens from the scrap bins and began working on this 9 patch variation.

These little blocks will measure 5" square finished. The red plaid print in some of the blocks is from my oldest daughter's shirt that she wore in the 4th grade. I know that because she had her school photos in that shirt. Lol.  I love using fabrics from my girls' clothing. Every time I look at quilts with their clothing in it, I get that warm fuzzy feeling.  So far I have pieced 9 blocks and plan on making a small wall hanging.

I have also been doing some random strip piecing. These fabrics are from shirtings and scrap fabrics from the bins. I am pulling them at random and making them fit. It does not matter where they go to me.  I am just piecing these willy nilly, but I do have a plan for these pieces once that I have enough pieced.  They will be used in an applique project. These blocks have been a leader/ ender project  as I have been  working on other quilt blocks . They add up pretty quickly.

So what is in my hoop? A small Christmas wall hanging that I began last year but did not completed. This is a string pieced Christmas tree quilt. Lots of fun fabrics in this quilt with some fabrics dating back  20+ years . I have one more block to quilt, and then it is time for the binding. Woo Hoo! I can not wait;  though I do have to admit that sometimes I do get a little sad when the quilting is coming to an end.  I then remind myself a new quilt will go in this hoop soon.  I wonder which one will it be?
By the end of the evening, I finished the binding on the four patch mug rug. No mug has hit this quilt yet though. I decided to put it on display.
I first put it with the old scale displayed on a wooden cabinet from the barn. It looks cute on the paper mache box with the blue cheese crock.
I free hand quilted this little quilt.

I then moved it over to the hoosier cabinet.
This old hoosier was found at a yard sale years ago and supposedly came from Denver, CO. Most people would have probably have thrown it away, but it had a rough wonky kind of charm that I loved. Right now it is all decked out in its fall decor. So I put the little four patch mug hanging from the door with an old tea towel. This is where it will hang until Thanksgiving is over then it will find a new home.

Lots of country clutter here, but it makes me happy!

Now this is not a quilting project, but it has a quilt in it. This little print is actually a Christmas  gift bag!  I bought this little Christmas bag at Dollar Tree. It has a barn with a quilt on it and a red and white quilt in the sleigh.Isn't it the cutest and  perfect for a farmhouse Christmas?  Above the barn, were the words "Merry Christmas". I ended up cutting one panel of the bag out and framed it  in an 8 x 10 frame . The "Merry Christmas" and handle holes got covered up by the frame. This was a quick little project, and I still have one more section that I could frame for one of my daughter's. This will be cute to leave out all winter.

This little print is now on display with a small stack of winter quilts.

I hope to work on some more quilt projects this next week and just maybe there will be something new in the hoop by the end of the week.
Thank you for dropping in and visiting me today. Have a blessed day and as always...
Happy Quilting,
Melisa
