Scarecrows, Pumpkins Galore- My Autumn Tree

 Fall Y'all is complete!

Welcome y'all and Happy Saturday. Can you believe this is the last day of the month?

September sprouted wings and just flew right on by . Didn't it?

Well  Fall Y'all  is fully finished into an ornament and is ready to hang on the tree.  The only thing is one sweet stitcher  noticed that I misspelled y'all . I have always spelled it ya'll, but she was right so I will have to go back and change that. Lol.

I  was doing the "scarecrow happy dance" when I found this unfinished wood plaque ornament in my stash. I bought it last year at the Dollar Tree in the craft section.
I simply gave the wood two coats of paint and then glued my stitched piece to  it. The little ruffle trim is from a shirt that I ripped and gathered and glued in place.

My little raggedy tree is crammed full with fall goodness. Hmm! Can I find a spot to place Fall Y'all in the tree. Oh my!  Perhaps one of the ornies will inch so slightly over for it. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Stitching, scarecrows, pumpkins galore!

The bottom of my tree is surrounded by loads of handmade goodies.
I filled an apple crate with stacks of fall quilts and a plethora of pumpkins that my sis gifted me. The Pumpkin sign is one I created from an old scrap of wood.

The mini ladder has mini quilts on it including Autumn Crow  and Autumn Shoo Fly Quilt  which I shared in previous years.

Years ago , I bought the cedar doll high chair at a craft show. It holds another small quilt stack and a basket gifted to me by dear Shelly . In the basket is a pumpkin made from an old dress.

This tree is fixing to see a makeover for witches, cats and goblins are making their way to the tree.  I will share the Halloween raggedy tree when all of spooks take their place among the branches. ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ
Have a beautiful Saturday , Sweet friends and ....

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Apples and Pinwheels - That's My Jam & Mini Apple Sampler

Rise and Shine! Sunshine!

It is a beautiful  day!

Doesn't Apple Blackberry Jelly sound delightful on  warm toast? ๐Ÿž   Mmm! Mmm! I sure would like to have some, but all I have is   this vintage empty  jar  to tempt me and to  remind me of my sis who gifted it to me.  We both collect vintage tins and advertising.๐Ÿค—

 Do ya'll remember Bama jelly?

When I was child,  my siblings and I  would beg mom to buy certain jellies not just for the ooey gooey goodness , but  because certain brands had collectible  jars with cartoon characters on them . After we gobbled up the jelly or jams on biscuits the colorful jars were washed out and used as juice glasses. I wish mom had saved those .๐Ÿฅ›

I  was so excited to post my apple hutch tour on Tuesday, that I sat down and drew up another mini sampler called Mini Apple Sampler . This is a Choose Your Own Colors chart. I will be adding this to my stitch list as soon as I dye more fabric.  I am not sure what colors I will use but I certainly will share them when I decide.

If you are interested in stitching this piece,  just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends.

Oh my! My chart is crooked! I am so sorry.

All my blocks for Darlene's Pinwheel Quilt are pieced. This quilt is named after my sweet friend Darlene who inspired this quilt. She made a mini one with blocks that were tee tiny.  My blocks measure 8 1/2" unfinished.

I had wanted 42 blocks, but alas I ran out of cream fabric so I have settled on 31 blocks. One will be an extra.
Two of my favorite fabrics in these blocks is the Three Pigs and the flying bunnies. Arent' they the sweetest?

The blocks are all laid out ready to be pieced into rows. Perhaps that will happen today.  Then I will decide on a border. Thank you so much, dear Darlene for the sweet inspiration.

That is the Friday happenings in the holler- just a little bit of this and a little bit of that!  Enjoy your day, Sweet Peas and go do something you love!!!!

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Wordless Wednesday at the Creek

A beautiful Wednesday to you sweet friends. I thought today we would go out to our recreational property for a visit. And while we are there I am going to pick up some rocks for landscaping back home.

We will be going down this overgrown path so you may want to put on your jeans and boots. Watch your step there may be rattlers about.

I hope you enjoy this Not So Wordless Wednesday visit to the creek.

I spotted a  deer track!

We enjoy trout fishing here.

My oldest daughter's fishing hole.

This is where my girls used to love to swim.

It is hard to see but there is the body of a deer deep in  the woods. Can you spot her?

Hi there , Sweetie!

Thank you so much for dropping by for a sweet visit.  I was able to get a number of rocks to take back home to place around the flower beds. Thankfully there were no snake encounters. Lol
Oh , before you leave , I want to thank everyone again for all of the kind words on my IG anniversary posts. It may take me awhile to respond to everyone on Instagram but know that you are so appreciated .
Love ya'

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

An Apple a Day Hutch Tour and a Little Quilt

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ The Lord  is good to me,
and so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need,
The sun, and the rain,
And the apple seed,
The Lord is good to me. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ
-  Johnny Appleseed Grace

Have you guessed it? Yep! Today is Johnny Appleseed Day . A day to celebrate the lively and colorful  pioneer Jonathan Chapman who traipsed across the United States spreading kindness, generosity and a whole lot of apple seeds. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ

I am celebrating the day with my hutch all decked out in apple goodness. A few months ago while on a camping adventure, Mr. Pinker and I visited the most glorious antique shop that was filled to the brim with antiques and collectibles. It was one of those shops that you had to inch your way through because it was packed, and it would take weeks to take it all in. But anywhoo. The shop had an amazing old homemade stepback cabinet filled with all things apples. My heart went thumpity thump with all of that red. ( Ya'll know me and my love affair with the color red) . Unfortunately, I did not have my camera, but the red goodness has been seared into my memory . So I tried to recreate the look with what apples and red items I had on hand.

For me this is a light look in respect to my country clutter. Normally I like to fill every nook and cranny. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜†
On the top shelf is an apple gourd that I painted about 20 years ago.

I started off layering a gingham curtain and some red cloth napkins down as shelf liners. I then went to town or should I say  I "went to the apple orchard" and filled in the shelves.

All of the items are either homemade , bought at the thrift stores or the Dollar General years and years ago.

I pulled out some vintage tins and Granny's old sifter that I painted .

In 2021 my sister and I went in search for goodies on the World's Longest Yard Sale; I told her I was looking for apple items. Low and behold the very next day she pulled up in my driveway beaming  with the gift of  the apple tea pot that she bought for a dollar. This is one of the last gifts she gave me. ๐Ÿค—❤๐ŸŽ

A little hen sits in a sifter.

You can never have too  much enamelware.

The bottom shelf has some of my old brown crocks. I love collecting them.    A small apple basket holds some sweet quilts.

I moved my red scales from the counter over to the hutch.
Sshh! We will not discuss that I have a "scale collecting addiction" Lol.

I think it would warm Mr. Appleseed's heart to see my hutch filled with apple goodness. Don't you?

Now I would like to share with you a darling quilt  that I am calling Apple Crate. It is just a simple rail fence and a fast easy quilt to make.

APPLE CRATE  measures 20" x 20"

My fabrics are all chosen.

To Make This Quilt You Need.

Cut 80 - 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"  scraps

EACH BLOCK IS MADE UP OF 5  of these 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" strips.

Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew the 5 strips together. Press.

I  made 2 different color ways of the blocks and then alternated them in my layout.

This quilt has a total of 20 blocks measuring  5 1/2" square unfinished   which will be  5" finished.

I hand quilted it in the ditch.

Well that's all from the apple orchard!

Thank you so much for celebrating Johnny Appleseed's very special day with me.

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
