Summer Days and the Gals on the Farm

Eeeeh! Another finish before the end of the year!!! Welcome y'all and Happy Tuesday Oooh before we take a closer look at my quilt. Look way down the field beyond my quilt. Do you see them? Yep the gals!!! Let's go see them first.  Shall we?

Edna says, "Howdy " Though she has an ear pulled back she was in a great mood and wanted to see what I was up to.  "No sweet treats today,  Sweetie!"

Brrr! It is cold . These gals just did not want to get up and look at the quilt, but that's okay. "Enjoy your day, ladies. "

Ok, now back to the quilt. I am doing the happy hoe down because I finished Summer Days quilt which I shared as a Stitch Along last year.

Way back in February of 2022, I began dreaming of warmer weather and shared the 1st block in the Summer Days SAL which was  A Little Blue Birdie.

Over 12 weeks, I shared 12 simple embroidery designs.

The embroidered blocks measured 6 1 /2" unfinished and 6 " finished.  I then  created a double churn dash for each block alternating the reds and blues.

The unfinished block size is 16 1/2" squared.

Hello, Gerite . Now don't you give me that look! Lol. You got to watch her. She can be a bit ornery.  You can barely see Dora , the black and white face in the background. She is a doll.

I hand quilted 1/4" away from the seams on each of the blocks and outlined the embroidery.

I was stalled when it came to the border but finally decided to use the Baptist Fan design to quilt the border.  The border fabric was a Pioneer Woman fabric which was perfect for  this quilt.  Edna was quite interested in hearing about my Summer Days.

But Gertie was not. She wouldn't even give me or my quilt a passing glance when I brought out Summer Days. Oh , Gert!!!! I guess she was peeved because no one was bringing a roll of hay down the hill at that very moment. " It will be here shortly, gal.  Can't you just take a peek at my quilt, sweet gal? "

So do you think I should start dreaming of an Autumn Days or perhaps Winter Days quilt for the future?  Perhaps.

I am off to snuggle under my Summer Days quilt, dream of warmer weather and of creating another quilt.  I am so grateful that you dropped by for a Tuesday visit.

Isn't  this gal as cute as a button?

Have a beautiful day and may your fingers by nimble and be stitching up a storm!!!

As always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Ya'll come back now , ya hear!

Hmm. There is Gertie's hay bale. I better see if Mr. Pinker can pull her out a roll. Lol.

Oh by the way, Bev the red and white faced cow is still not back at this farm yet. She and Dora , the black and white face cow are besties when they are together. Hopefully, Bev will be back soon.

Like a Bandit

A great big howdy to you! Well I have been at it again!! Scouring the thrift shops for thrifty deals.😀

A few weeks ago, Mr. Pinker and I high tailed into Alabama to search out my favorite honey holes. At first, I thought there was going to be slim pickings, but Mr. Pinker spotted this fabulous wedding ring quilt.

Isn't it gorgeous?

It has a few bad spots in it. I thought about repairing them and I may in the future , but only if I decide to pull out my vintage worn feedsacks.

A wee hole in the Wedding Ring Quilt

Do you see the star design in the quilting?

I made out like a bandit when we went to the 2nd shop. Eeeeeh! Look at this hexie basket quilt!!! It's huge!!!!

I bet you can't guess what I paid. - $19 . Can you believe it? And there is not a thing wrong with it.

This sweet little pillow also jumped into my buggy as well.

It was a great day to be a bandit that is for sure.

Soon we were trucking home and we decided to stop at one more thrift shop. There I spotted this Pioneer Woman comforter with shams for only $7.

But look the blue floral fabric is the same that I am using in my Summer Day's quilt.

Can you imagine them being paired together.  Maybe the quilt at the bottom of the bed. I think that would look cute. Now to put my nose to the grindstone and get the Summer Days quilt complete.

Well that's this week's thrifty haul.

Thank you so  much for dropping by for a visit. Have an awesome day!!!

As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Dreaming of Camping

Aaaah, I am dreaming of camping. ⛺

Happy Sunday, sweet friends. Is your day off to a very lovely start? I sure hope so. Yes, I have been dreaming of camping. Last week at this time, Mr. Pinker and I was trucking back home from our camping trip.
We  enjoyed a lovely few days at the lake. We did not stay at our usual site at the campground because we did not want to crowd the other campers so we made our way to another loop of the campground.

We found this site to be quite peaceful and though there were other campers there we did not see a soul.  I did not work on much stitching but instead chose to take my Summer Days quilt.  Last year, I finished piecing the Summer Days quilt at this lake.

I began quilting the last block this past weekend.  It is called a A Bowl of Tomatoes.

Last night I finished quilting the block. Eeeeh! All 12 blocks are quilted . Now it is time to work on the border. That is what I will do today.

Later in the evening, I will pull out my Halloween cross stitch which I began for my Witchy Wednesday stitch. Hmmm, I wish I could grow a stalk of candy corn.

Do you have any plans for Labor Day?  We will have a small family gathering and the kiddos will enjoy a dip in the  pool .  Normally, we have a cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs, but this year I am going to keep it simple for our meal. It is going to be a "Make your own Sub Sandwich Bar" . All of the fixin's will be laid out for each person to create the sandwich of their choice. I think I will also have slaw, humus, macaroni salad  and Frito corn salad. I haven't decided on the dessert  yet.  Do you have a favorite meal that you like to serve for Labor Day ?
Well I have jabbered long enough. I am off to sit back, relax in my stitching chair and enjoy working on my quilt as I dream of camping. My next camping adventure will be on Thursday, but I will tell you about it later.
Have a beautiful day!

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll
