Kitty Korn Kinda Day

It's a Kitty Corn kinda day. No not a candy corn day, though that would be delightful.

For the last few days , I have been in the thick of things- cleaning and organizing the quilt room. When low and behold, I spotted my Kitty Corn panel that I purchased years ago.

This panel and fabric line is by Urban Chiks.
Anywhooo... it has been languishing for way too long .

Aren't the fabrics scrumptious?

Moda's Kitty Corn pattern is a freebie available on their website. I will be making my quilt in a similar fashion except I will enlarge my blocks to 6 1/2" unfinished.

Since I only have 2 charm packs , I will be adding some fabrics from my stash that coordinate with the Kitty Corn line .

90 nine patches are needed for this quilt so I better get to work.

10 Kitty Corn Nine Patches are completed. 80 more to go!

I don't expect to finish this by Halloween . This will be a project I work on when I have a hankering.

Candy Corn Plant Sampler is in the works. And by the day's end, I should have it completed. If so, I hope to share this simple sampler in a few short days.  This has been a super quick stitch.

I best get to work on all of these sweets!

So tell me . What are you working on today?

As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Candy Corn , Pumpkins and a Little Trifle

Woo Hoo! It is finished! Well at least the embroidery. Happy Thursday, my friends. I finished my the embroidery work that I was working on last week !!!!  Now all it needs is a good pressing and for me to figure out how I want to fully finish it.

1821 Pumpkin Saltbox

Speaking of fall finishes. I wanted to show you the amazing Fall banner that dear Patricia made for me. Isn't it stinking cute?!!!

I knew exactly where I wanted to put it. Draped on my rail fence quilt top that I pieced years ago. The quilt top comes out each fall just to snicker and snide at me for not quilting it , but I still display her anyway. She will receive her quilting one day. Lol. Right now Mrs. Rail Fence quilt top is so happy to be sporting the Fall banner. Thank you dear Patricia. Hugs ❤🤗

Yesterday I shared my Candy Corn House. I thought it was a cutie patootie  house. - well at least I would live in it if I could.

Today I wanted to show you my Candy Corn wall hanging that I created with scraps of clothing and Halloween fabrics.

Super quick quilt for the holiday season.

It has been awhile since I shared a trifle. This is an itty bitty stitch and is my 1st Halloween trifle. It reminds me of a little sugar cookie. This one is called A Little Jack Trifle and is teeny.

If you are interested check out the link to the jpg below.

OOPS . I forgot to write in the directions. I used 1 strand of black to create the mouth and eyebrows.

Have a beautiful day my friends and as always...

Candy Corn? A Halloween Freebie

Good morning ya'll. Today has a Tuesday kinda feel to it.🙃 Do you feel like you are a day behind after a long weekend?  I sure do.

So how was your Labor Day ? Ours was pretty good. We had a  cookout at mom's, and then all of the kiddos came over to the house to swim. It did rain off and on, but the light showers certainly did not spoil our fun. We were dancing in the rain or should I say swimming in the rain.

Today is the last day of the Get on Board blog hop. If you haven't checked out all of the fun, hop on over, enjoy all of the eye candy  and enter into the rafflecopter giveaway . There are some great prizes.

 Thursday, September 1

Yesterday I shared my Pineapple Quilt. Thank you so much for all of the kind compliments and for the information on growing pineapples. I will keep you posted on the progress of my plants.

So  have you started pulling out fall and Halloween decor?

I have been knee deep in fall decor and loving every minute of it. I wish I could put it all out.  I have been watching Jean E.'s home tour videos which always brings me inspiration. I love how she mixes vintage with new . She and John are collectors after my own heart.  The other day she even shared her Halloween bedroom. Eeeeh! It was amazing.

My newest thrifty find made from "real wood" hanging on my pantry door.

Well last week , I shared Aunt Mariah's Autumn Saltbox ...

As soon as I posted it , I was off and running on a new house stitch- The Candy Corn House.

Candy Corn House with Autumn's Saltbox

Now I know some of you vehemently do not like eating candy corn, but don't you think it is a little hard to resist a candy corn house?

Aaah come on.  Lookie! 👀 There is candy corn growing on a small potted tree and candy corn growing from flowers. I bet they would be quite tasty. Two little crows are ready to pluck the candy corn from the tree if you do not grab a handful.

This house is a lot smaller than Aunt Mariah's measuring  67 x 69 which on 14 count aida brings it to about  4 3/4" x 4 7/8".

There are only a few floss colors which include DMC 3371, 898, 712, 937, 720, 722, 610 & 783. Of course, you could change the colors to whatever strikes your fancy.

I often get asked what do the dates mean on many of my stitches. I usually put something in my cross stitching that is in rememberance of a family member .  The 1880 in this one is the birth year of a distant granddad.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate links because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  These are images of the chart  or JPG s and not downloads.   I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

A sweet stitching friend shared some very interesting candy corn facts with me.
I thought you might find them interesting like I did.  Thank you so much, dear Shirley.

CANDY CORN FACTS
1. Candy corn was first produced in 1888.
2 . It was also know as "Chicken Feed"
3. It was 1st invented in the 1880's by a Wunderle Candy Company employee by the name of George Renniger.
4. The colors represent harvest colors and has a taste based on honey, sugar, vanilla and butter.
5. Brachs make 7 billion pieces of  candy corn a year.
6. Candy Corn became popular for  Fall and Halloween in the 1950's.

Now tell me . Are you a candy corn eater? I have to admit. I may munch on a piece or two during the holidays, but I mostly like to decorate with it. 😀

Thank you for stopping by, my friends . Hope to chat with you very soon. And as always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
