The Fabric was Flying

"What ya' got?" asked  Mr. Pinker as I hopped into the truck . Mr. Pinker had waited in the truck as I went into the Hobby Lobby in the big city.

"Just the fabric I needed," I replied.  "Lookie, it has butterflies on it!"

Mr. Pinker politely smiled and then put the truck in gear as we puttered on down the road.

As he drove , I perused the internet looking up quilt block  ideas  to go along with my Pretty in Peach butterflies blocks.

"Hmmm , the finished block must measure 15 inches, " I said to no one in particular.

"What dear? " asked Mr. Pinker "Are you dreaming of quilts again?"

"Yep!  And I think I have an idea. Step on it! Fly like a butterfly!  "🦋🛻

Mr. Pinker just smiled, shook his head and puttered on down the road. Putter! Putter ! Putter!  Obviously, Mr. Pinker did not know the imperative nature of me  needing to make this new block. Hee! Hee! 😂😀🤣

When we pulled into the driveway, I hopped out of the truck before we were even parked.

" Whooa!  Can I park ?" asked Mr. Pinker.

"I'm off to the quilt room! " I yelled over my shoulders and in a blink of an eye,  I disappeared from sight.

Soon  fabrics were flying this way and that.  Mr Pinker heard the hustle and bustle and peeked in the doorway "Is everything alright in here? "

"Sure, Sweetie. I am just making my selection. See.  Blues, peaches and lights. "  I was beaming with my selection.

"Aaaah , OK , " said Mr. Pinker as he retreated out of the room. " I will leave you to the task at hand. "

"Ok I will be  stripping away," I said.

"Huh?" Mr. Pinker peeked back into the room. "What did you say? "

" I am going to be cutting fabrics into strips, Silly. Ya' want help. " I said with a grin.

"Nope.  Again I will leave you to that task. "

With a shrug of my shoulder , I went to work and made a sample block.  An easy peasy block!

These are the cutting measurements.  I have to write them down to remind myself. Do you do that?  LOL 😀

WHITE FLORAL FABRIC- Cut 4- 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
BLUE FABRIC- Cut 4- 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
PEACH FABRIC- Cut 4- 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
WHITE PRINT STRIPS- Cut 4- 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"

I think I like it. I need at least 9 more if I  am going to use this block with my Pretty in Peach Butterflies that I appliqued earlier this year when I was in Quartzsite.

So what do you think ? Do you think the colors will work?  I hope so.
I will tell you the story of why I chose these colors in another post.

I am curious. Do you know what the name of this block is ?

Well, gosh, I have done it again- just yacked and yacked about  whole lot of nothing. LOL.😁😂 But at least I have finished a block. I will work on more this weekend. Hmmm unless the grandsons have something else in store for me. 🤔

I am hoping to get out of the holler today. We have been pinned in all week - A small section of the road has been repaved and a total of 4 families have not been able to get out much because the road has been closed down;  thru traffic was not allowed only residence. Soooo... it has been a long week dodging the flaggers and machinery if we needed to go out which has made me just want to stay in.

Alrighty , Sweeties, I have talked long enough. You have a beautiful day and keep those needles flying!

As Always...

Wordless Wednesday - Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

Happy , Happy Wednesday! I hope your  week has been a lovely one thus far. I thought I would post a "Not So Wordless Wednesday " post. It is like a "Wordless Wednesday post but with a few words. Hee! Hee!

One of our last destinations when camping was Pawhuska, OK. We always enjoy visiting the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. There you will find one of the largest bison herds here in the U.S.  and the largest protected tallgrass prairie in the world. I hope you enjoy these few snapshots.

There are over 2000 bison here at the preserve.

Time To Move On

Brrr.🥶🌬🌬🌬 It was a blustery day with the high in the 50's. It was time to move on.

Our time at Cache Creek had been a lovely one. We puttered on down the road and stopped briefly to admire the Arkansas River.

Arkansas River

We then made our way to Twin Lakes where we at lunch and snapped a few photos of the dam.

By mid afternoon we were headed to Leadville.

The highlight of the day was visiting the Leadville Fish Hatchery which is the 2nd oldest federal fish hatchery in the U.S.

The  main building was constructed in 1890 of native red sandstone.

It housed a small collection of items once used by the hatchery including old milk cans which were used to transport fingerlings ( 3-4 inch trout) in the old days.

This was a nursery section inside the main facility. You could view the young fish and the workers through the windows.

A darling little built in cupboard in the main building.

Outside was a small pond ...

... with huge trout in it. You could feed them for a quarter.

It was feeding time at the hatchery...

... and the fish were having a feeding frenzy, jumping up and about as the workers threw pellet fish food to them.

There are 16 raceways and 20 nursery tanks here .

The yard/ meadows near the hatchery was blanketed with large dandelions.

Children were running about picking these big blooms. They are certainly a burst of sunshine.

Later on today, I will share a quick Rainbow Scrap Challenge post.  If you have a chance, pop back in.  Thank you for stopping by.

The Chipmunk Caper

Oh my, just look at this absolutely adorable face! Cute as a button!❤❤❤ Right . But "Beware!" There is a chipmunk on the loose and she wants your threads ! Hee! Hee! 😀 🧵

Well after entering Colorado, we found the most peaceful delightful camping spot.

Mr. Pinker maneuvered Big Red and the ole' camper between the trees. " I think we will stay here a few days, " said Mr. Pinker.

"Fine with me," I replied.

Each day I was greeted by the most adorable chipmunks or ground squirrels. They kept coming closer and closer. One day , I ran back into the camper to retrieve my camera in order to take some photos of the wildlife.

This little fella was another visitor. Do you know what kind of "rodent " he is? He is cute too.

Blue Stellars would perch above us in the trees or flutter down to the rocks nearby.  Every now and then they would chirp away.

Mr. Pinker and I enjoyed hiking around the area.

The aspens were just beginning to put on their leaves.

The view up on the hill was so pretty.

In the evenings, I worked on my Around the Garden blocks.

One day, I had my blocks sitting out on the camp table. Being thirsty, I hustled back into the camper for a drink. When I returned , to my  dismay   I encountered  a little chipmunk busy burrowing itself into my thread bag!

"What's in the bag? " ask Miss Chipmunk.

The hole Miss Chipmunk made in my bag!

Was this little gal stealing my thread? !  Oh bother! "Not today, dear, " I replied. I shooed the little gal away and quickly gathered my supplies. All my thread was here. Hee! Hee!

Was Miss Chipmunk curious or did she have an impending project that she needed to work on? Well, I guess I will never know.

Being a little flustered after the visit from Miss Chipmunk , my last flower block was a little wonky, but that is ok. It will remind me of Miss Chipmunk.

Sweeties, that is my tale from the  campfire today. Thank you so much for dropping by for a visit. See ya' later! And you have an awesome day yourself. 😘🤗
