Raining Cats and Jacks! And a Prim Halloween Freebie

It's raining cats and "jacks"  in the holler! πŸŒ§πŸ±πŸŽƒ

Happy Happy Saturday, sweet friends.  We finally are getting a spot of rain after a long dry spell.

But before I get into my post , let me thank everyone for the sweetest compliments and visits on my last couple of posts. Blogger is giving me the blues and is not allowing me to reply back. Aaargh! 😜Maybe it will be better behaved tonight. Fingers crossed!

But back today's happenings. What to do on a rainy day? Well stitch and quilt ! Hee! Hee!

Last night , cats and jacks jumped out of my attic as the rain began to fall. That is my Halloween decorations.

Soon they were making their way onto the hutch. The theme of the hutch all started with Walmart's newest cat cookie jar. Swoon! Meow! Thumpity Thump!  I love it! πŸ€—πŸ˜ΊπŸ§‘πŸŽ”

The cat cookie jar is my newest Halloween piece from Walmart. They have the dog cookie jar too.

By night's end, most of the goodies were on the hutch . Today I will continue to wrangle those Halloween pieces and change out the quilts.

But I do want to work on a little Prim Cat and Pumpkins Pinkeep .

UPDATE: OCTOBER 3, 2026- It did not take long to stitch up Prim Cat and Pumpkins Pinkeep , and I fully finished it - all in a few short hours. I added a gourd pin with a scrap of fabric and some buttons to one corner. Prim Cat and Pumpkins is stitched on 14 count coffee/ tea dyed Aida.

Prim Cat and Pumpkins Pinkeep was stitched on 14 count coffee/ tea dyed Aida.

Ghostly Hutch Tour 2025- My hutch was filled with lots of ghosts.

Boo Hoo, 😒 there was no Halloween Hutch Tour in 2024. Mr. Pinker and I were camping in Texas.

BUT  What about 2023? Hmmmm

Aaah yes, I shared my Witch Apothecary Halloween Hutch  for 2023.

2023 Halloween Hutch - Witch Apothecary

2022 was dedicated to all things Jack- o- lanterns in my  Jacks, Jacks and More Jacks  October hutch theme. There were 45 Jacks on this hutch. Wheww! That's a lot!

A Modge Podge of Halloween was the theme of my 2020 Halloween hutch.

So how are you spending your day today? Is it starting to feel like Fall in your neck of the woods?

Well Punkins, I am off to see what I can get into. I hope you find a little joyful mischief to brighten your day too.
Thank you for the sweet Saturday visit! Love ya'! 😽🧑

As Always...

Witch Apothecary Halloween Hutch Tour

Happy Halloween, sweet friends. Are you getting ready for  a visit from  spooks, goblins  and witches?  I sure am. I plan to have a grand total of 4 -  grandsons and nephews. Hmm I wonder what they will be?  I am sure they will be quite frightening. Lol. πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ

Please grab yourself  a mug of Halloween brew and a sweet treat-   Peanut Butter Cornflake Bars are on the dessert menu today and they are Mmmm Mmmm good!

In celebration of this spooky day, I thought I would share the Witches Apothecary Hutch tour. Hmm, I think I crammed every inch with spooky goodness.  You know me and country clutter- the more the better for this ole' gal! πŸ˜€❤ It's just my style. πŸ€—

The old Coca Cola crates and Campbells tin still remain on the top of my hutch. They always stay in place, but I did add a Dollar Tree sign and pumpkin.

A little Dollar Tree leaf garland helps soften the edges of the top of the hutch and on the 1st shelf is loads of witchy stitches.

One of my favorite is " Harvest Blessings" by Joyce Reed ,and it can be found in the 2019 Fall issue of "Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine".  I finished it on an old clock base.

Hazel Ewe, a sweet witch, is enjoying  her day in her witches' cap. Above her is a deadly potion. Oh , please do not drink that; I am certain it would ruin your day.😫

Broomhilda is leading a Halloween Parade. I always enjoy a parade. Don't you?

In the corner  are  a couple of Halloween potion book boxes that were from the Dollar Tree, not only are they cute but great for storage.  On top of the Witches Guide book is "Surrender the Treats "  which was a freebie from Hands on Design(. Information on  it can be found on Cathy's Instagram.  )   .

Pumpkins were added to the little egg basket hanging from the side of the hutch.

Let's shimmy on down to the 2nd shelf , shall we?

Annie and the gang are stirring up some trouble in Jacks , Cats, and Chickens.  I finished this stitch on a little wooden box which is now turned on its side.

Next to Annie is Little Bits Tricks. Isn't that witch the cutest?  Behind Tricks is Pumpkin Head a freebie from Donna at By the Bay Needleart which she posted on her blog on Oct . 17, 2014.
I just adore Buttons Black from Plum Street Samplers.  I stitched it years ago and added textured ribbon and spiders to the frame.

In the opposite corner is witches galore including a ceramic witch gifted to me by my daughter.

The  sweet witch with a jack in hand is called  Spirits and Spells from With Thy Needle.  It is finished on an old tin tray.  My vintage Halloween candle which has been in storage for many years was begging to come out so I obliged and put it next to my stitch.

The bottom shelf is filled to the brim as well.

"Treat Delivery " is one of my stitches that I worked on in 2020, but just recently finished; it has all of my favorite Halloween things- a black cat, bat, and a Jack with treats.

Look at this adorable crocheted pumpkin sent to me by dear Barbara !!! Oh my it is too cute !!!! Behind it is a Homespun Elegance piece called "Oh to Be A Witch" .  My daughter gifted me the precious  black  cat. I think it was from Walmart's 2023 Halloween decor.

The vintage is scale is filled with witchy cuteness as well.

On top of the scale  is 2 bowls and vintage doilies. The sweet Halloween berries were also gifts from dear Barbara. Thank you so much ,sweet friend. These gifts just make my day every time I look at them.  Behind the sweet berries, is a vintage Halloween image that I printed and framed.  Smell My Feet Halloween Stamp will probably be a freebie next year if I don't forget . Lol.

Well y'all that  is it!!!! A hutch filled with witchy goodness!

If you would like to see previous year's Halloween displays just click the colored links. I use a lot of the the same things but just change them around.

As soon as my four goblins leave for their trick or treat adventures, all of the witchy decor is flying off the hutch and back into the attic ( Well except for the stitches ; they have totes to fly into). And guess what is going to be marching proudly down the attic steps-  Turkeys!!!! I better get ready for my feathery friends! Thank you for dropping by for a visit and have a safe and wonderful Halloween.

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Jacks, Jacks and More Jacks - Halloween Hutch Tour

Good morning, punkin! Welcome! Well my hutch is crammed full of spookiness. And I thought it would be so much fun to play a little game. How many pumpkins and jacks can you spot on my hutch?  πŸŽƒAre you up to challenge? Aaah come on!  πŸ˜ƒ

Ok Let's play!

The theme of my hutch was Jacks , Jacks and more Jacks. I left the black and white buffalo check shelf runners on the shelves though you can not see them from all of the Halloween clutter 🧐😳. In the background, I used my orange Dollar Tree plates.

On the top of the hutch is a leaf garland from the Dollar Tree and a sweet felt candy corn garland purchased years ago. I never change out the top of my hutch . That is where I store my Campbell's Soup tin and Coca Cola crates and bottles, but I did add a Dollar Tree sign to the top . ( You wanta know what's in the soup tin? I store plates in there. )

On the top shelf is a very toothy paper mache box that I found on one of my thrift stores runs.

My daughter gifted me the "Too Cute to Spook" owl.  In the smiling Jack container is a Homespun Elegance piece called "Oh to Be A Witch" .

Years ago, I stitched "Jolly Jack" from  All Through the Night. The frame is too small for it , but I still love it.

Let's hop down to the 2nd shelf.

A big smiling Dollar Tree jack sits on a Dollar Tree book .

Finished on a tin tray is With thy Needle and Threads " Spirits and Spells . Below it is "Hocus Pocus" , one of my itty bitty design that I shared yesterday.

One of my favorite pieces is the paper mache Jack standing on a box. I got him for a dollar years ago.

Behind him is a wooden jack. In the old golden compote stand is a jack that my daughter bought me years ago.

Big Jack and Little Jaxs was a freebie I shared in 2020.  There is 3 jacks on it.

The little wicked witch below is one of my wool appliques. She is a bit creepy. Don't you think?

Down we go to the bottom shelf.

I changed the bowl in the old juicer to an orange Dollar Tree bowl and filled it with picks and an pumpkin.

In the corner is a freebie called Jacks and Crows from Primitive Betty. Betty posted it on her blog on June 25, 2014.  Ooooh! there is 5 jacks in that stitch.

Below it is a little pumpkin sitting in a vintage mason jar lid that I found sitting in the bottom of a  creek. Yes! I  braved the cold water for that treasure.

Sitting on the Dollar General cauldron mug is my Hazel Ewe. She was finished on a paper mache box. Can you guess where I bought the box? Yep. the Dollar Tree. πŸ˜ƒ Gotta love the Dollar Tree.

Below Hazel is a freebie  witch from the Pineberry Lane called Witchie .

Years ago I loved to grow gourds and paint them. This is one of the few that I still have.

Don't you just adore those jagged crooked teeth? Well at least I do in a Jack. Beside Witchy Jack is Hocus Pocus- from Heart in Hand. I finished it on a Dollar Tree wooden easel  frame.

The wool applique jack I created years ago.  On the vintage scale, I layered a doily and a crocheted dish towel.

In the bowls gifted to me by my dear sister is some candy corn and a couple of cross stitches including "Surrender the Treats "  which was a freebie from Hands on Design(. Information on  it can be found on Cathy's Instagram.  )  and October 31st  from Heart in Hand.

Ok so how many jacks did you count?

Hmmm first shelf including the top of the hutch  I counted 8.

Second shelf-   I counted 12 but if I include the teeny pumpkins in the Brenda Gervais piece plus the pumpkin sticker in the bow  that would be 10 more- so 22

Bottom shelf- I counted 13.

OH MY! 43 JACKS!! Surely not!

Did you spot more? There certainly are a lot.  I didn't realize I had so many witches as well until I started to look at these photos.

I am sorry I was so snap happy with the camera and overloaded you visually, but I am very grateful that you stopped by to see a bit of my Halloween clutter.  Come the 1st of November all of these Jacks will be making their way to the attic, but don't worry! I have more country clutter to fill their space. A turkey invasion is going to take place in the kitchen.  Do you decorate for Thanksgiving?

Have a beautiful day, my friends and as always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
