Mr . Snow SAL Block 5 A Jolly Fellow

Good morning , Sweet Friends and  a very Happy Thursday to you. After a few days of tech troubles, I am back online ready to catch up on all that has  been going on.

Can you believe this is the last day of November? It's time to get in full swing with the holiday spirit. 🎄🎅🤶

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  I  have ordered a few things online for the grandbabes . I haven't braved the stores yet.

Frosty McChill quilt which was  a 2021 SAL.

Today is Embroidery Thursday, and I am so excited to share block 5 in the Mr. Snow SAL. This is a very quick embroidery.

Mr. Snow looks quite stylish sporting his top hat in this block called A Jolly Fellow.  I colored his band in the hat and the scarf red.  Ever so slightly with the red crayon, I also gave him some color in those icy cheeks .

There must have been some magic in the old silk hat the found. For when they placed it on his head , he began to dance around....

(Hee! Hee! Do  you think that you will be singing that tune in your head today? I know I will.☃😀☃)

So far I have shared:

Block 1 Snowballs,    Block 2 Winter Friends,  Snow Mitten ,

Block 4 Waiting for Snow   and  Block 5  A Jolly Fellow

INSTRUCTION TIME !   Now remember , I am no expert, but am just sharing how I embroider mine. Please prepare your fabric, embroider in whatever manner that  makes you happy. The number one rule is to always have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut your fabric to 8 1/2 "x 11 1/2" . This will  be trimmed later.

2.  Place the pattern between a light box or a window and center the design as best as possible. Trace the design onto your fabric using your favorite transfer fabric pen or pencil .

3. Embroider the design .  I used a backstitch using 2 strands of DMC 498  on most of the design. A stemstitch would look  quite lovely if you prefer.

4.   I used a French Knot on Mr. Snow's eyes. You do not have to include the French Knot;  you may want to add  teeny beads for eyes . How cute would that be!!!

5. Press and trim to block size 7 1/2 x 10 1/2". If you color tint your blocks, remember to place a paper towel over the tinted area and heat set with the iron.   The finished  block size in the  quilt will by 7" x 10" .

Happy Turkey Day and Mr. Snow Block 4 Waiting For Snow

Good morning , sweet friends . Welcome! Please join me on this fine beautiful  day.   May I wish you all a very warm and Happy Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin Basket ( I haven't shared this one yet) and Thanksgiving

I know not everyone celebrates this special holiday, but I think we all can celebrate being grateful for all of the blessings in our lives, and I certainly count you as a blessing in mine.
Wool handprint applique of my grandsons' hands.

I am so very thankful to all of you - for your encouragement, sweet visits , heart warming compliments and messages. Thank you for taking such precious time out of your day to spend it with me. I am so humbled and appreciative beyond words.

This year our Thanksgiving will be spent at my parents ; there will be   a total of 19 family members in attendance.

The Thanksgiving tree has lots of brown glittery fall ornaments and real turkey feathers on it.

This will be the 3rd Thanksgiving without my sister; but I am sure she is smiling down upon the family from Heaven.

Mom will set up a large fold out table in the living room. Half of us will eat in the kitchen while the rest migrates to the living room where usually the parade is on TV or a Christmas movie.  Dad usually carves the turkeys which are nestled in a big pan of Mom's homemade dressing. Oh my , it is divine! Because we have so many eager to eat, the food will be set out buffet style along 2 tables .  Once everyone is stuffed, the kiddos usually scamper outside . I usually wrangle them up and take family photos on the swing. The grandchildren and nephew always have their photo taken together sitting in the same position each year. It is joy to see how they have grown each year. Once the photos are taken I am sure the kiddos will jump on the four wheeler and head for the woods or their favorite fishing hole while us adults gather on the porch or in the kitchen chatting away.

Last night Mr. Pinker and I were busy bees bustling about in the kitchen  . Pies were baking and side dishes were being created.  Mmmm the pumpkin pie aroma  smelled so yummy!

Pumpkin Pie, Pecan pie and a pumpkin roll are just some of desserts that we will be taking to today's  festivities.

Come evening time, Mr .Pinker and I  will make our way back to our home which is  just a hop, skip and a jump down the road from my mom's. I will settle down to working on a bit of embroidery for it is Embroidery Thursday for me. The next Mr. Snow Block will be in the hoop.

This week's Mr. Snow Block is  called "Waiting for Snow".

Mr. Snow  and his cardinal friends are waiting anxiously for the 1st snow of the season. A few flurries have already begun to fall. Aah Mr. Snow is such a happy fellow!

I colored the cap, jacket and cardinals  with a white and then red crayon.

Be Ye Thankful - A Thanksgiving Freebie

I have my fall apron pulled out and my recipe books at hand. I am ready to spend the day bustling about in the kitchen working on sides and desserts for Thanksgiving Day.

Good morning, Sweet Peas and Happy Wednesday.

Are you going to be in the kitchen as well?  Do you have any special sides or desserts that you like to prepare or eat during the holidays? Do tell. I am always up for trying something different.

One of my favorites other than my mom's dressing is Cranberry Marshmallow Salad which I shared the recipe last year.  Oh my, I can not get enough of it. It is so yummy and very easy to prepare as well. The  longer it sits in the fridge the better it gets. 😋💗

I will be preparing not only the cranberry salad, but a greenbean casserole, candied yams, stuffed celery and cream cheese corn.

Yesterday  I shared  my Thanksgiving hutch filled to the gills with turkeys galore.  One of the stitches on the hutch was Be Ye Thankful.

Be Ye Thankful and "Hello October " which was a gift from dear Barbara.

I worked on this stitch during the early fall months and was happy to get it completed to enjoy for November. I meant to post it earlier this month, but the days have gotten away from me. Does that happen to you?

Anywhoo, Be Ye Thankful was inspired to 2 resin Pilgrims that my mom gifted  me years ago.  However I reversed what each Pilgrim was holding.

Priscilla and Miles are standing in the pumpkin patch with turkeys which are strutting about. Above the Pilgrims is a garland of corn.

Be Ye Thankful measures 82 x 84. I stitched mine on 14 count aida which brought it to a size of about 5 7/8" x  6 1/8".

 I used 14 DMC floss colors which include 221, 223, 301, 407, 610, 730, 782, 830, 840, 844, 869, 948, and 3371.

I debated for a couple of weeks on how to finish Be  Ye Thankful , but after some time, I found a thrifted frame in my stash. Though some of the stitching is cut off, I found the stitch looked quite charming in the frame. Isn't the scroll work on the frame lovely?

I have provided an enlarged symbol chart on 2 pages.

Well, Sweeties, I sure do wish you were here so you could keep me company while I puttered around in the kitchen.  Ooh and you could sneak some tastes of the food being prepared. Hee! Hee!  But I know you are going to be busy yourself perhaps cooking, stitching or  quilting. Whatever you are doing , I sure hope you  have fun!  Have a beautiful day and thank you for the sweet visit.  🤗 Love ya'!

Tomorrow Mr. Snow is going to be on another adventure in my SAL. I hope you stop by to see the 4th block.

As always

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Friends, Family and Turkeys- A Thanksgiving Hutch Tour

Gobble, Gobble!🦃🦃🦃 It is Thanksgiving week!. Two more days til Thanksgiving. I am certainly ready for the big day. The groceries are bought, and it is time to prep.

My hutch is filled to the brim with gobblers, plates and stitchy  goodness.  I should also say it is filled with friendship because there are so many beautiful gifts from dear friends and family displayed lovingly on each and every shelf .

I guess you can tell what this is leading up to. Yep another Country Clutter episode where I show my clutter in all its glory.😀 I know this is not for everyone, but it is right up this ole' gal's alley.

Well let's go see what's roosting in the kitchen, shall we?

Coca Cola crates, bottles and a Campbell's soup tin always stay on the top of my hutch, but this year I did add a pip berry fall tree and a pumpkin with some Dollar Tree garland draped along the top edge of the hutch. Gotta love Dollar Tree.

Last year I used some of my brown transferware plates and just loved having them on display so I did the same this year.  Let's strut to the top shelf.

In the corner is Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler which is one of my favorite stitches of fall  2022. Next to the darling Pilgrim lady is  Thanksgiving House - lots of pumpkins and turkeys in this stitch.

Front and center is one of my turkey platters. I have an obsessions with platters especially if a platter has a turkey on it. I bet you can guess that turkeys rank as one of my favorite birds along with a few other feathery friends.  The sweet wooden trucks and darling family gathering their harvest was a gift from dear Patricia. I look forward to displaying them for years to come. 🤗 Thank you , sweet friend.

The little creamer always stays on the hutch year round ; it's another gift from my sweet sis.

In the opposite corner is a grand old gobbler with Blessed tucked in it.  I do not think I can ever have too many Pilgrims. Primitive Hare's freebie "Give Thanks" is always a joy to bring out come November.

Let's ruffle our feathers and fly on down to the 2nd shelf.  More Pilgrims and gobblers are sure to greet us.

Isn't this stitch and finish as cute as button?

Eeeh and a squirrel!!! ❤You know my obsession with those furry tailed rodents. 😀😂 This piece is called "Hello Fall" and was stitched and gifted to me from dear Barbara. I just love it!!! ❤❤❤ Aaaah the attention to details- I just wish I had Barbara's finishing talent. Thank you dear Barbara; this piece is a treasure. "Hello Fall is a freebie from October House Fiber Arts. I do hope you visit their website  for there is lots of gorgeous eye candy to enjoy.

One of the Thanksgiving pieces that I worked on this fall is Be Ye Thankful which I have not shared yet. I was inspired by these 2 Pilgrims that my mom bought me eons ago  from Ingles Grocery store.

I miss those days when grocery stores had reasonably priced knick knacks that could be snuck into the grocery order. Lol but I digress.  Anywhoo, Miles and Priscillas are enjoying a harvest with turkeys all about in this stitch. This stitch is as snug as a bug in a rug in the frame ; in fact it cuts some of the stitching off, but it was in my stash and I loved it so I popped Be Ye Thankful in it.  Maybe I will find another frame in the future.

TURKEY TIME is an Erica Michaels freebie which was posted on her Facebook on November 13, 2018 . It is tucked in a small turkey dish  .

In the corner are 2 colorful  turkey tureens. I don't know if you can tell, but I placed packaging tape over the lids . Last year I broke one of the ladles so I did not want to repeat that incident.

The darling "Gather" sign was a gift from dear Shelly a couple of years ago. It comes out each fall . Thank you again , Shelly.

Hmmm. I wonder if I could squeeze just one more gobbler onto the 3rd shelf. 🤔🦃😀

I kept the redware bowl in the vintage juicer and added some fall picks.

The Better Homes and Garden pie plate that I used in my fall hutch display is nestled in the corner.

I stitched TURKEY HOLLER SALTBOX last year. I enjoyed using some nontraditional colors in this autumn house.

"Happy Thanksgiving " by Bent Creek  is tucked in other turkey planter. Lisa, a sweet stitchy friend, let me borrow the chart  a few years ago. It is always a joy to bring it out come turkey time.

Next to my vintage scales is  Cornucopia Stamp . The small Thankful board was a gift from sweet, Joan. Isn't it as cute as can be? It stays out year round somewhere in the kitchen.

The scales always stay on my hutch as well.

On top of it is a bowl gifted to me by my sweet sis. In the bowl is a vintage crotched pot holder with Turkey Creek Manor GIVE THANKS and Priscilla Ewe nestled on top.

Well that's all for the turkey tour.  So do you think I did a good job of filling every inch of the shelves? Hee ! Hee! I sure tried. I am so grateful and feel very blessed by sweet friends and family as well as you. ❤🤗  Thank you!
Last year's hutch had even more handmade stitchy goodness . If you are interested in seeing any of the previous Thanksgiving hutch tours , just click on the links. You will see a lot of the same things, but just arranged different.

Come Friday, these old gobblers will be flying right back up into the attic and eeeeh! vintage Christmas will be coming out. I am waiting on pins and needles to put out more Santa mugs .

In the corner next to the hutch , I have been working on my little pencil retro tree. It is nestled in Christmas tins.

More Christmas advertising tins are surrounding it.
Alrighty, Sweet friends. I am off to see what I can get into. I hope you have a wonderful day and a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
As Always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll
