Homestead Blessings and Pear Butter- A Little Quilt

I am playing with four patches today!

Happy Friday y'all. Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am. Tomorrow Mr. Pinker and I will be going to a tractor pull ,meanwhile I am going to spend the whole  day working in the quilting room.  Woo Hoo! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Mr. Pinker is away at a Beekeeping class so we are both doing something we enjoy. Right?

Hive Sweet Hive,  Bee Balm, and Be Blessed is a freebie from my sweet friend  Vicki at , Stitchy McFloss blogspot

As I was rummaging through my scrap bags, I found 11 lone four patches that I created awhile back just itching to be placed into a little quilt.  These little four patches are made of 1 1/2" squares.
After some contemplation, I cut some more fabrics and laid out the pieces for a wee quilt.

Auditioning a layout using 10 of the found four patches.

I am not posting a tutorial, but these are the cutting measurements that I used just in case you would like to  make one. 😀
Strips are cut for Pear Butter.

CUTTING FOR THIS QUILT:
20 - 1 1/2" brown squares for four patches
20 1 1/2" yellow squares for four patches
14- 2 1/2 " green squares
2-  2 1/2" x 8 1/2" burgundy fabric rectangles for  top and bottom borders
2-  2 1/2" x 10 1/2 burgundy fabric rectangles for right and left borders

The four patch center of the mini quilt is all pieced. Time to add the corner blocks and  borders.  I webbed mine together.

The center is pieced . Time to add the borders.

It did not take long before the little four patch quilt was pieced.

I think I will call it Pear Butter. It reminds me of my Green Apple Butter that I shared a couple of years ago.

Green Apple Butter quilt made from 4 patches.

Pear Butter will be going into the hoop soon.

In the background is "A Pumpkin and a Crow" and upcoming freebie and  Autumn at Sunflower Ridge by The Woolly Ewe

UPDATE: November 1, 2025: I finished the quilting for Pear Butter

I will be dyeing fabric today for this little design called "Homestead Blessings".

A Hip Hopping Finish and A Down on the Farm Stamp Freebie

Good Friday morning to you , sweet chicks. Please do come in and join me; I do have lots to share. A cup of hot coffee is sitting on the buffet for you to enjoy. Sugar ? Or do you like it black? If you are not a coffee lover , I do have iced sweet tea in the fridge. 🥤🤗

Eeeh! Woo Hoo! I am hip hopping happy!!!!
I have a finish! 🐰🐇🐰

The Easter Quilt is complete!

I believe I started it in 2019 or thereabouts.

I have spent "many a hours" sitting on the porch stitching away on this colorful quilt. To be honest, I thought I would never complete it.🙄🤣  Hee! Hee!

But here it is - in all it's glory!  In time for Easter! So to say I am hip hopping Happy is an understatement.

The Easter quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted using the Baptist Fan design.

The backing was a 100 % cotton sheet that is white with large pink polka dots on it. How perfect for an Easter quilt.

What else do I have to share? Well...

It is Farm Friday! And I will be working on a farm stitch.

I have had the hankering to stitch some farm themed stamps for awhile. Well, I finally pulled out some floss and started one.
Cluck! Cluck! Of course I had to start out with a chicken stitch. Though I no longer have chickens, I am still known as the crazy chicken lady in some circles. Hee! Hee! I just love , love, love chickens!

This little stamp is called "Here , Chick Chick"!

Just two little chickens living wild and fancy free - frolicking in the flower garden. My hens were notorious for scratching my gardens up.

I will be sharing the little farm stamps ever so often on Fridays. I have no set schedule on their release just when one comes to me, and I finish it. They will mainly be about farm life and the things that I love. So far I have over 12 in mind and more are brewing.

Now I bet some of you are wondering about the Summer SAL. I am still thinking about it. I am toying with the idea of creating a lot of different stamps with various themes and then let you choose the colors , and stamps you want in your sampler. - Just a thought.

Hubby and I will be going to town today to get groceries for the upcoming Easter meal.  We also hope to visit some thrift shops and antique stores. Fingers crossed we will find some deals. 🤞

Well, I do believe I have rambled long enough. I wish you a hip hopping happy day! Love ya' a bushel and a peck !😘❤

Summer Farm Pasture - A Little Summer Freebie

Welcome, dear friends and Happy Wednesday! I have not been spending a lot of time stitching. Aarghh! I am still trying to figure out the email services for subscribers. They are just not working out so far .😕 I am not very techy ,and I do not understand the terminology that is used when I am working on setting them up. Oh yes! I have googled it , but I am just plumb tech dumb! Lol.😆😜  Fingers crossed I will muddle through it soon.  I am not sure if my email service is working and am trying to figure out which is  a better fit for my needs-  "Follow it ' or Chimp Mail . My daughter has been trying to help which is a good thing.

I had meant to post this earlier ,but better late than never.  Are ya'll ready to head out to the bottoms? That is the lower pasture . It has been pretty rainy these last few day so put on your rubber boots , and let's head out!
We can hitch a ride on the four wheeler if you like.
Last week I shared my Summer Farm series with Summer on the Farm  which had  Pa Pa's barn
and Summer Farmhouse which had Nanny and Papa's house and dad's red truck.

This week I wanted to share Summer Farm Pasture.  Behind the barn is the pasture. So what is going on in the summertime in the pastures on our farm?

The cows are moved from field to field depending on hay baling. The cows are usually milling about, swatting flies with their long tails and enjoying some time  in the shade near the pond.

I have included Mollie, aka No. 4, which is the red cow.

I have told you about her before. She is the smartest cow in our herd.

Blackie, our old milk cow ,is also included in this design along with with two little calves one of which is Mollie's .

In the front field is a small patch of corn- peaches and cream which will be very yummy when it is ready for the pickin'! Big sunflowers are reaching for the sun. Of course, I had to include my old treehouse which was located in an apple tree.

Dad built a 2 level wooden tree house  from cedar posts and pieces of plywood against the larger of the apple trees . My platform was the 1st level ; my sister's level which was a bit smaller was in the crook of a tree. I can not tell you how often my sister and I  sat in that ole' treehouse filling our bellies full.  Underneath the platform was the "garage" where we would pedal up on our Big Wheels and park . lol.

Two little Pekin ducks are enjoying some time on the pond.

I finished Summer Farm Pasture just as I did Summer on the Farm and Summer Farmhouse  which was  on a Dollar Tree unfinished wooden tray that I painted white and  with a bit of Dollar Tree lace  added for embellishment. The fabric is scrap fabric that I have had in my stash for years.

If you are interested in this little stitch , just check out the pdfs below . Since I am not a designer, please check out my little disclaimer too.

Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I  have to put each page on separate pdf downloads because of the devices I use. I apologize for that.  And I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and stitching my little designs.

I am so delighted you took a tour of the family farm with me. There is nothing like farm life , and I am very grateful that you took the time to visit and check out my little designs.
I am hoping to do a fall farm tour through my cross stitching in the future. So I hope that you will pop in for a visit

Have a blessed week and as always...
Happy Stitching, ya'll,
Melisa
