Rollin' In High Cotton

I am rolling in high cotton! 😀

Really, I am with lots of beautiful scenery and quilting to boot !  This weekend I have been admiring a glorious cotton field.

Hello  there, Sunshine! Welcome! How are you doing on this lovely summer's day?

Mr. Pinker and I went off on a little excursion for the weekend, and like I said my view has been one of a magnificent cotton field and farm.

I do not know much about  cotton, but the plants had  white and purple/pink blooms. How pretty! Hmmm do the pinkish flowers turn white as they mature? I don't know, but I sure am curious.

So what does one do while camping near a cotton field in Alabama you ask. Well, I pulled out my Alabama Beauty quilt for some slow summer stitching.

Some of you may remember that I purchased this quilt in 2023 during the World's Longest Yard Sale.

It is hand pieced and was partially hand quilted using a pretty pink thread. So I picked up my needle and thread in 2023 and continued the quilting as the original quilter had started.

Eeeh! About two thirds of the quilt is quilted! I am seeing the light toward a finish. 🌞🌞🌞

So what am I going to do when I get home? Hmmm 🤔  Well, unpack of course, and all of those back home chores, but that's not any fun to speak of  is it?   I think I will continue working on Alabama Beauty this week and perhaps work on some fall stitching.

Autumn's Pumpkins is in the works.

Soooo... what do you have in store for the week?

Milk glass, plates and a little creamer are all new thrifty finds from the World's Longest Yard Sale this year. I have to say I was doing the Happy dance.

I love jadeite, but here recently I have been collecting Delphite. Two more saucers to add to my wee collection.

 As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

The Ribbon Quilt is In the Works

Rise and Shine, Sunshine!

It is going to be a beautiful day and we have so much to do. Hmmm like quilting, stitching, and cleaning.   😀😃

Can you believe it is Wednesday already? This week is trucking right along.

For the last few days, it has been overcast and the temps have cooled down quite a bit. This is not our normal temperatures for this time of the year that is for sure.

Edna looks awful drowsy this morning doesn't she? Wake up, Edna!

Webbing my blocks

Yee Haw ! I am moving right along on The Ribbon QAL offered by Alycia  at Quilty Girl .

Wednesday, Alycia posted Step 3 and in no time, I was at my machine zooming away.

Now I have to admit a few blocks , jumped out of place as I turned my back, but I rustled them back into place . And in a few short hours, the blocks were all rounded up into a sweet scrappy quilt top.

Alycia will be sharing the next step today. There are borders that need to be added.

I have to admit that I was not sure how my quilt would look with all of the scrappy fabrics, but I think I am as pleased as punch!

What do you think?

Today the grandsons will be here. They have already requested that Mr. Pinker and I take them on a grand adventure. Sooo ... we will be spending our time out in the woods and by the creek. Then we will be taking a hike up the mountain.

I hope to take a little stitching along with me for those down moments.

A Basket of Autumn is in the works. Guess what it is going to be filled with?

The little sunflower bowl was a thrifty find on the World's Longest Yard Sale.

Well Sweeties, I am off to enjoy the day.

I hope you do the same and...

Happy as a Clam

Well I am as happy as  a clam!😀😁 Mr. Pinker and I went yard saling yesterday and did pretty darn good considering there were not that many people out. The yard sales do not officially begin until Thursday, but there are still early treasures to be found.

Our first stop was at dear lady's home in the next county over. When we arrived, she was sitting on her porch .As soon as I got out of the truck, she got up, and we gave each other a big hug. 🤗

"I was just thinking about you, " she said.

 " I wouldn't miss coming to see you. "

With that, we chit chatted for awhile catching up on the goings on and then we got down to business-  me searching for treasures and her selling. 😁😄

Every year she is the first person I visit.  She always has a nice collection of "down home super cheap goodies".  Right off the bat,  I spotted a darling little  shelf and for five bucks it was mine. That is the most expensive thing I bought all day- like I said I am happy as a clam!

I am so sorry for the dull photo. It has been overcast and gloomy for the last couple of days, But on the bright side, it has been cooler. The shelf needs to be cleaned and repainted; soon it will find a home somewhere in the house.

I will be showing you my other thrifty finds in upcoming posts after I do a whole lot of scrubbing on those thrifty treasures.

Today I will be changing out a few things in my small foyer. You have already seen my  seasonal tree redecorated in sunflowers, but I failed to show you what it looked like in all it's patriotic splendor.

My thrifted little white shelf is filled to the brim with watermelons and a modge podge of thrifted and gifted goodies.

Please excuse any dust bunnies you  may encounter. 👯👯👯 No time for dusting when I have been thrifting and stitching. Hee! Hee!

Time for these pieces to be moved somewhere else.

The cast aluminum cornbread mold was my latest find a few weeks ago for just $2.00. What a steal!

I am dreaming of a shelf filled with sunny  sunflowers. I think that would be delightful. How about you?

The Ole' Crow Saltbox and  Crows and Sunflower Stamp

My sunflower tree in 2020.

Once all of those chores are done, then perhaps I will be able to sit back, put up my feet, and relax with my needle and thread in hand.

A darling gift from Robin. 🤗

Well that's my Tuesday rambles.

So tell me.  Are any of you going to be visiting the yard sales this week? There are 690 miles of them stretching from Michigan to Alabama and treasures to behold. 😀

Have a beautiful day, Sweeties and Happy Thrifting!

 As always,

Happy Stitching and Quilting, y'all

Dedicated to my dear sister, Amy. It is hard to believe we were thrifting together just 4 short years ago. Such a sweet memory. I miss and love you so much.   ❤👼

The Mr. Icey tin was a thrifty find last December.

Homemade items sit below my seasonal tree. Like Bent Creek's  "Spring Snapperland Coop" which was  finished on a Tractor Supply egg basket. I simply tucked a  wooden chicken and some corn husks into the basket.  The watermelon was made from a wedge of wood cut from a log.

Summer on the Farm Hutch Tour

Up and at em'  , Sweeties! It is a beautiful morning !

The coffee is all brewed, and I have a piping hot cup ready for your pleasure . One lump or two?  Well you may want to take it black when I tell you that we have a whole bunch of junk stuff to look at. 😀😁Yep, you guessed it !

It is another Country Clutter tour.

Many of you know my "country clutter tours "are not for the faint of heart, because I am a "proud as a peacock" maximalist  others call me a "Clutter bug". Either way I wear the badge proudly. Hee! Hee! So if you are up to it. Come on! Let's head to the kitchen. Don't forget your coffee! 😀

The lazy daisy is filled to the brim with chickens and farm related pieces.

And so is the hutch!

This year's late July theme was Summer on the Farm

I kept out the Pioneer Woman plates that I used on my patriotic hutch and changed things around a bit.
Summer Pasture was front and center. This little stitch is based on my Nanny and Papa's farm.

Aunt Betty's at Blueberry Buckle Lane  looks quite homey on top of the old cow tin.

My newest thrifty find is the cow pitcher.  I bought it last month in AL.

Summer on the Farm depicts  Nanny and Papa's big red barn which was located  behind their house. When Papa was farming, hay was stored there.  My sister, cousins and I would load up on the hay wagon anytime that we knew the hay was going to be bailed. We would tug and pull on the bales of hay as they were stacked in the barn.  In all honesty, dad did all of the work , but we sure felt like we lent a hand. After the hay operation, we would go for  a swim in the nearby river.  Hay baling was itchy work. 😂😀

Lizzie Kate's "Farm Sampler - Flora McSample" is nestled in my red scale.
🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

I kept my thrifted cabbage chopper out and placed all kinds of stitching on it to hide the blade.
Summer Farmhouse is one of my favorites. It represents Nanny's white farmhouse built in the 1930's . Nanny had a long clothesline behind the house and often laundry was on the line. Down the hill by the road, you could often see our family truck for we visited  Nanny and Papa everyday .

I stitched Farm Sweet Farm a few years ago. It  is finished on a Dollar Tree easeled chalkboard. Here, Chick Chick Stamp is beside it.
The little chicken yarn punch is one that I worked on last year.

The vintage juicer is  almost always on my hutch. I usually change out the bowl and fill it with something.

For July, it was filled with a vintage doily and  The Heifers- which is a Down on the Farm stamp.

Lots of little kitchen pieces are in the tin basket including an old pie crimper, bottle opener, canning funnel and biscuit cutter.  You know all kinds of rusty old stuff. 😃

Well that 's it ,dear friends!

Are you still with me? Or are your eyes crossed. I told ya' ; it is not for the faint of heart. Hee! Hee!

Soon all this is going away. I am still trying to decide what will go up next. Bees? Sunflowers? Corn? Hmmm I just don't know. They all sound tempting to me.

Anywhoo if you see Mr. Pinker put in a good word for me and tell him I need another hutch. LOL.

Y'all have a blessed day and thank you for visiting this ole' clutter bug.

This is my "Cow" themed hutch a few years ago.
