Down the Rabbit Hole

Good morning, dear friends.  Grab you a cup of tea or coffee and a plate of freshly baked raspberry coffee cake. I would like to say that the cake is  homemade, but alas it is not. But I promise  you, it is still downright yummy. 😋🍵

Well it certainly is a beautiful day and I have some hexies to work on.

I never intended to work on a hexie quilt until I finished my yo yo quilt, but I came down right smitten when I saw Diann's quilt at  Little Penguin's Quilts.   I just could not get it out of my noggin'  . So down the rabbit hole I went with hexies dancing in my head. 🐰🐇🕳

If you click the link, you can see Diann's quilt which is as cute a button, but beware for you may find yourself falling down the same rabbit hole. Thank you Diann for the sweet inspiration and enablement. 😀❤

Graphic from the Graphic Fairy
Joy at Days Filled With Joy is hosting another wonderful free stitch along. This one is  a Winter stitch. Each week on Friday she releases  a small segment of the stitchery. I will be working on catching up on mine today.  I have completed the stitching in 2 of her SAL's.

I completed my 2nd ornament for the #12in23stitchalong hosted by Carol at Stitching Dreams. It is one of Prairie Schooler "A Merry Mini Surprise Santa".

I would like to say that I am doing the happy dance, but alas, I am not  . Why ? you ask. Well,  I do not like my finish. So I have learned a lesson  : NEVER FULLY FINISH A STITCH WHEN I AM TIRED. Lol. Yep! I was plumb tuckered when I finished this one and it shows. 😄🥴  I didn't stretch the fabric good enough  and.... Oh well, I could go on and on, but I won't.  But on the bright side-  with all of the boo boos it I still think this wee Santa is going to look pretty stinking cute on my tree come December.

Speaking of Christmas - Christmas Alert !!! 323 Days until Christmas .  "Booo!!!" some of you may be saying ." Don't speak of Christmas this early! " 😃😂  Mark my word it will be here in no time.

Kathleen Tracy of the Sentimental Quilter is hosting another sweet free Valentine QAL like she did last year.  This was last year's quilt that I completed.

Well I gathered in my fabrics earlier this week. Reds ,  pinks, and neutrals !

Step 1 is completed. Lots of cute HST. I will finish Step 2 today for tomorrow she will give the next step. I love how she gives small doable steps that do not take long at all.

It's To Do List Time!!
(I'm linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt  for To Do List Tuesday . Carol for some reason I can not leave a  comment on your blog. , but I want you to know how much I appreciate and enjoy your blog. )

LAST WEEK' S GOALS.

✅1. Quilt more blocks on Grandma's Love.

✅2.Continue piecing shoo fly blocks

✅3. Piece more Rose blocks.

WHAT'S ON THE AGENDA THIS WEEK?

1. Quilt 3 more blocks on Grandma's Love quilt

2. Piece Shoo Fly blocks

3. Start a new spring stitch

4. Joy's Winter SAL

5. Kathleen's Valentine's QAL

The wee tobacco basket is filled with wool hearts and a few stitches including-  "The Greatest Give is Love" is from Lizzie Kate and was in the Just Cross Stitch 2001 Christmas edition,  Hugs and Kisses by Charland Designs which is a freebie and can be found at the Silver Needle's website , and  my freebie "And Love Grows"

Alrighty, Sweeties. That's it for me today. I have a full list of things on the agenda for the week  so I better get at.  If you have the chance , pop back in after 1:00 p.m. CST for a 2nd post- a Valentine's Parade of Stitches. I meant to post it yesterday, but I was exploring another rabbit hole. 🐰🐇 Ya'll have a wonderful and blessed day and ...

Pink is my new Obsession!

A very Happy Groundhog's Day to you!
Did you know that it is Hedgehog Day too!!!

Our nearest prognosticator was Chuck the Groundhog, but after his untimely death  in 2019 , Luna the Hedgehog took over. I am waiting on pins and needles to see what she predicts. I do believe our family of groundhogs at the strawberry field  will not see their shadow for it is a rainy day-- so should I predict an early spring? 😁

I wanted to thank everyone for the kind words on my February stitch that I posted on IG yesterday. It was a freebie from Rainbow Gallery in the 2004 series. I used my own floss colors to stitch it. If you click the colored text it will take you to the Rainbow Gallery freebie section.

🎵♬Pink is my  new obsession

Pink is not even the question...

Pink its the color of passion

Cause today it goes with the fashion... - Aerosmith.  🎵♬

Ooooh! I love pink !!! I really do! Well to be honest there is not a color that I do not like but pink ranks at the very top of my favorites. In fact, I have 2 bedrooms painted in shades of pink and loads of pink in my living room. So when Angela said pink was the color of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I broke out in song to the tune of Aerosmith's "Pink" as I rummaged through my scrap bins for pinks.

Thankfully I already had a few pinks pulled out for my Wild Wild Rose Quilt.

I finished piecing 20 blocks earlier this week. I didn't have room to lay them all out here, but you get the idea of where they are going.  I was inspired by Beth at Love Laugh Quilt blog and from  her Youtube My Sewing Room where she shared a tutorial on how to create these blocks. Soon I will have these pieced into a top.

I then moved on to creating  Shoo Fly blocks and 54-40 or Fight Blocks.

The Missouri Star Quilt Company shared how to create the 54-40 or Fight Freestyle Quilt on their Youtube channel. It is a lot of fun since the points do not have to be "real " precise.

Do any of you recognize the white fabric? A 2000 print though the selvage has it dated at 1997. It was time to put this fabric to use! 😀🗓

Speaking of pink . Lookie at my new "ball bag" my daughter bought me!!!👀❤ I will be taking this bag to the baseball and football games later this year, and it will be loaded down with snacks , projects, and toys for the kiddos as we watch the ball games.  But for right now it holds stitching and quilting and is nestled right by my stitchy chair.

Well today is embroidery Thursday, and I am behind on Joy's stitching along at Days Filled With Joy. She is hosting another fun filled embroidery stitch along . This one being Winter Themed. Oooh!  A perfect way to spend the winter evening for Joy creates the cutest designs.   On Friday, she will be releasing Week 3 on the stitch along. So if you have a chance hop over and grab the sweet design .

NOTE: I just wanted to tell ya'll that as of last week, I can not reply back to you through email if you comment on my blog. I am not sure what has changed that made that happen , but I will respond back in the comments below. It might take me a day or so. I truly appreciate you all. Hugs and love!!!🤗❤

I am off to stitch the evening away. Keep those fingers nimble and create something beautiful. Have a perfectly pink day!!!💘💗💝Hey! And don't forget - You are awesome!!!!!

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll

Happy February and a Freebie or Two

Good morning, Sweethearts!!! EEEEH! It's the month of Love!!! Happy February!
From the Graphic Fairy

" I like February for the

Hints that winter is going away

He seems to whisper in my ear

That soon the birds will sing and play.

He tells me to get ready

For warmer weather is on its way. - Lenore Hetrick  "

Country Cottage Needleworks February Cottage

Today I will be taking down my Winter Decor - well at least some of it.

Valentines and all things red and pink  will be coming out.  I have a confession to make- I do feel like I am way behind on everything for my Valentines decor should have been up a few days ago, but that is ok. It will get done.

Tomorrow will be Groundhog Day-  day that is sometimes overlooked , but I do think the groundhog is an adorable critter.

So what do you think he is going to predict? We have a number of groundhogs that live on the farm. In fact, there is a family of them at the strawberry field. I will have to keep my keen eye out for them . Hmmm ! Shadow or no shadow?   It has been awful warm these last few days so I am hoping for spring . Fingers crossed Mr. Groundhog does not see his shadow.

Speaking of spring. Yesterday , I began a new spring stitch. It will be stitched up and shared on my blog soon.

I have a couple of freebies for you if you are interested.

They are small quick stitches- something you can whip up in a jiffy.  I haven't finished mine yet, but I was hoping to find some small wooden tags to mount them on.  I am keeping my eye out at the Dollar Tree for I am sure they will have the perfect piece soon.

If you are interested in stitching Love Stamp and Snow Stamp  ,grab the images below. Many of ya'll know but I always encourage you to read my little disclaimer and note about getting my charts.

NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues.  Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print.  I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas.

I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs.

A little doodle just for you- a little groundhog beside a pot of pansies.

My February Pansies and Groundhog Doodle  was stitched using DMC 498 using the back stitch.

Last month I shared a January Snowman Doodle.  Is he not adorable?  I stitched him on a 7 1/2 squared piece of fabric and then trimmed it to 6 1/2" . I framed him with 2" strips .

I hope to work on the March doodle very soon.

A QUICK AND EASY CRAFT

As I was pulling out some of my Valentine's decor, I found these little wax heart cookies that I made over 10 years ago and they still have held up nicely. Guess what they are made of other than wax?   BREAD!  Yep and they still look good.🍞🕯🍪

I took a couple of slices of store bought white bread and sat them out on the counter for about an hour to get a bit stiff and then cut out little hearts with a small cookie cutter. I then dipped them in old melted candle wax several times - a bit messy but I enjoy pulling them out each year and sitting them  on the table. I have made some for every season. I can not tell you how many times family members have thought that they were cookies.🍪😋😀

Well sweetie pies, you have the most fantastic day!!! Thank you for stopping by and ...

As always...

Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll

Melisa

During this season of love, focus on loving those closet to you. Love everyone.
