Well it certainly is a beautiful day and I have some hexies to work on.
I never intended to work on a hexie quilt until I finished my yo yo quilt, but I came down right smitten when I saw Diann's quilt at Little Penguin's Quilts. I just could not get it out of my noggin' . So down the rabbit hole I went with hexies dancing in my head. 🐰🐇🕳
If you click the link, you can see Diann's quilt which is as cute a button, but beware for you may find yourself falling down the same rabbit hole. Thank you Diann for the sweet inspiration and enablement. 😀❤

I completed my 2nd ornament for the #12in23stitchalong hosted by Carol at Stitching Dreams. It is one of Prairie Schooler "A Merry Mini Surprise Santa".
I would like to say that I am doing the happy dance, but alas, I am not . Why ? you ask. Well, I do not like my finish. So I have learned a lesson : NEVER FULLY FINISH A STITCH WHEN I AM TIRED. Lol. Yep! I was plumb tuckered when I finished this one and it shows. 😄🥴 I didn't stretch the fabric good enough and.... Oh well, I could go on and on, but I won't. But on the bright side- with all of the boo boos it I still think this wee Santa is going to look pretty stinking cute on my tree come December.
Speaking of Christmas - Christmas Alert !!! 323 Days until Christmas . "Booo!!!" some of you may be saying ." Don't speak of Christmas this early! " 😃😂 Mark my word it will be here in no time.
Kathleen Tracy of the Sentimental Quilter is hosting another sweet free Valentine QAL like she did last year. This was last year's quilt that I completed.
Well I gathered in my fabrics earlier this week. Reds , pinks, and neutrals !
Step 1 is completed. Lots of cute HST. I will finish Step 2 today for tomorrow she will give the next step. I love how she gives small doable steps that do not take long at all.

Hexies are always a joy to stitch. Yours, Melisa, are sweet. Oh, I think your Santa will look sweet on the Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Kim. This is the 1st time I have created hexies . I am having a lot of fun. They are so relaxing to work on . Happy quilting.
DeleteNothing wrong with a good rabbit hole! I like them myself. You just never know who you will meet down there. =) I've been down the hexagon rabbit hole many times in the last 45 years! Still have some projects unfinished. Might need a whole year of UFO days to finish all of them!
ReplyDeleteLol thank you so much, Susan. I seem to find myself in rabbit holes all the time. I bet you have some of the most lovely projects to work on . Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteThe Santa stitchery looks fine to me. If someone looks closely at it and tells you it's not perfect, that person is really not your friend! Going to check out the hexies now which I probably shouldn't since I'm already working on a hexie project.
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Gretchen. You are so very kind. I guess I am hard on myself sometimes. I struggle at fully finishing my cross stitch, but I am glad that this one is finished and will be on my tree. I am having a ball with the hexies. Happy quilting.
DeleteI love that you are working on a yo-yo quilt. I have one that I repaired - my great grandfather made a yo-yo...well...I'm not sure what to call it since it's yo-yos on the top and one piece of fabric on the bottom. I guess just a coverlet for the bed? It's in storage right now.
ReplyDeleteLove rabbit holes - but when I look up to see the time, it's like wow! Oops! LOL!
Oh thank you, Donna. I have been working on the yo you quilt for some time. I have about 1/2 of the yo yos made. What a treasure to have your grandfather's yo yo quilt. I bet brings back fond memories . Have a great week. Hugs.
DeleteBeautiful projects Melisa! Your Santa is gorgeous! Adorable! Love the hexies and the Valentines QAL. 👏👏 Well done!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Barbara xx (She of the Flashing Sissors) 😁❤️❤️❤️
Aaah thank you so much, Barbara. Santa was fun to work on , but I do struggle at finishing, but I am so glad he is completed. I am really enjoying working on the hexies. I see this being a new obsession. Lol. Happy stitching. Hugs
DeleteYour works are always lovely, Melisa!
ReplyDeleteIt shows so much that you enjoy what you do!!!
Your little Santa has been ideal.
Hugs from Spain
Aah thank you so much Isabel. You are so very kind. I do enjoy working on stitching and quilting ; it does soothe the soul. Have a wonderful and blessed week. Hugs.
DeleteYou are so sweet to mention my quilt in your post and link to it, Melisa! I'm always inspired by your quilting and stitching projects, too. Your hexie flowers are going to be so pretty! Enjoy your stitching today!
ReplyDeleteWell, Diann, it is all true. I have been thinking about your quilt ever since you showed it and I finally just gave in to the desire to make one. I am loving every minute of working on it as well. Thank you again for being such an inspiration. Hugs.
DeleteYou have got a lot of different sweet projects going. I'll be watching your Valentine SAL progress. The first 2 steps look fun. Step 3 comes tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Susie. I feel like I did not get a lot accomplished for the week, but I guess it added up . Lol. I can not wait to see what step 3 is in the SAL Happy stitching and quilting.
DeleteI look forward to watching these projects as they move along.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Maggie. You are so very kind. I hope to make more progress on them this week. Happy quilting.
DeleteI do like that SAL, hopefully I will be able to find it and print it out when we return home from our holiday.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Jenny. I will try to leave a link the next time I post my progress as well. Safe travels.
DeleteI'm always amazed at all the things you do, your needle work and quilts are beautiful! I finally got to advanced much more on the Cold Winter's Day Saltbox, I hope I can finish before Valentine's!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Aah thank you so much, Diana. I feel as if I have a needle in hand at all times. It does soothe my soul. I am so excited to hear that you are making progress on Cold Winter's Day Saltbox. I hope you are enjoying it and thank you again for stitching it. I am so very honored. Hugs.
DeleteBeautiful and fun projects. Pretty fabric for the QAL. Santa looks fine to me.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Astrid. I have been trying to use the fabrics that I have in my stash here lately, though I have been tempted to purchase more. Lol. Happy quilting.
DeleteThe one downside of blogging is all the temptation to start all the cool projects you see on other blogs. Your Santa looks good, hopefully by the time Christmas is here, you've forgotten what irks you now about the finish. Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteLol I agree , Kate and I am a sucker for a new project. Fortunately I do not mind having lots of UFO's otherwise I would go mad. Lol. Thank you for the kind words on my Santa. Happy quilting.
DeleteRabbit holes can certainly be fun can't they!
ReplyDeleteOh I agree, Vicki. and I often find myself falling down many of them as well. Lol. Happy quilting.
DeleteThat raspberry coffee cake looks yummy - I would have a big fat pat of butter melting on mine. Your hexies are pretty - and yes, Diann is quite the enabler! All your Valentine-y fabrics are so pretty. Sometimes I get really fed up with Blogger for all the issues it has created the last year or so. But I am not impressed with Wordpress, and I can't figure out how to host myself, so I stick with it!
ReplyDeleteOh it was yummy, Linda. I wish I could send you a slice. I am having a lot of fun working on the hexies. They are quite relaxing to work on . I agree about blogger; I just wish I was more tech savvy. Thank you for the sweet visit.
DeleteJust checking in to see if the change to your settings did any good! Hope so.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Bonnie and Eeeeh They did work. Thank you so much for walking me through it. I was excited to see my mailbox waiting for me today. Happy quilting.
DeleteEnjoyed seeing all of the red and white/cream goodies!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Cheree. Reds and pinks are some of my favorite colors to work with. Have a very lovely rest of the week.
DeleteI love the colors you’ve chosen for your hexie quilt! I did see Diann’s quilt! Such cute hand stitching projects! Great progress on your To Do List! Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, dear. These were fabrics that have lingered in the quilt room for close to a decade so I figured I needed to put them to use. They are happy colors. Have a great day.
DeleteHi Melissa. This is another wonderful post filled with goodies to send any of us down rabbit holes, or in my case, have my inner squirrel, Samantha chattering st me. I too fell in love with EPP last year and have a fun hexie project that I work on in between other projects or when I just need to sit for a bit. Im so sorry you can't comment on my post. I have the same issue with some blogs and have found that if I change browsers (or even computers) it some times works/. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday and sharing all of the links to various rabbit holes. Have fun this week and good luck with your list.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Carol. I often find myself falling down rabbit holes or chasing squirrels myself. Lol. This is the 1st time that I have worked on an EPP and I am loving every minute of it. I think I figured out how to comment on your blog so fingers crossed I will be able to do so on your next post. Thank you again for the sweet visit. Happy quilting.
