I pulled out my little vintage confection tin which is filled with scrappy goodness.
Eeeh! Give it up for the old red , white and blue!!! Woo Hoo! More little Scrappy Flags are in the works. This is my leader and ender project.
Sunflowers, Bear Indians, and polka dots make up these little flags.
These flags measure 5 1/2" x 6 12" unfinished and 5"x 6" finished
51 blocks completed! And more to come!
Would you like to make a block? It is Easy Peasy - I assure you!
FOR ONE BLOCK
FROM RED SCRAPS - Cut 2 - 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" strips
Cut 1- 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip
FROM WHITE SCRAPS- Cut 1 - 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" strips
Cut 1- 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip
FROM BLUE SCRAPS- Cut 1- 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square.
DIRECTIONS : ( Use 1/4" seam allowance.)
🧵1. Take 1 red 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" strip and 1 white 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" strip . Place right sides together and sew down length of strips . Press toward red.
🧵2. Take the 2nd red 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" strip . Sew to the white side of the unit created in Step 1. Press to the red.
🧵3. Sew the Unit created in Steps 1 & 2 and the Blue 3 1/2" square. Place right sides together and sew. Press toward blue.
🧵4. Take the red 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip and the white 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip . Place right sides together and sew down length of strips . Press toward red.
🧵5. Sew the Unit created in Step 3 to the unit created in Step 4. Press.
Your Scrappy Flag is complete! Now do the Happy Dance! Oh yes, you have to do the Happy Dance - that is essential! 😀😂❤💃💃💃
This is the Flag quilt that I began in 2020 and finished in 2021. It was made up of 36 flag blocks.
My new Scrappy Flag quilt will be bigger than this one.
This is my Monday Making project. Perhaps I will get a few more flags under my belt. Since this is the focus quilt, nine patches will be moving in as the leader/ ender project. More on that to come.

DeleteI really appreciate the instructions you share with us for making your quilt blocks. I’m very tempted to try this one! Although I would probably start with a pillow or little wall hanging. Aches and pains keep my projects small but I love doing them. From your strawberry doodle of a few days ago, I pulled out the little bird running off with a big berry in her beak. I embroidered the cute bird and used some wool felt scraps for her berry. Made that into a little pillow and displayed it with an old berry basket that holds a wool felt strawberry I made long ago. I love it and think of you, your creativity and your huge sharing heart every time I look at it.
