Happy Slow Stitching Sunday, Sweetie pies. My needle and thread is enjoying a day of meandering along my Grandmother's Love quilt.
Grandma's Love Quilt Top |
Mr. Pinker purchased this quilt top last year for my birthday. Isn't it lovely in all of it scrappy glory?
All of the blocks are complete; now it is time to work on the border.
This is one of my favorite blocks.
Do you, Raggedy Ann lovers recognize this fabric ; the one where the scissors are pointing?
It reminds me of the calico dress that my old, dingy and well loved Annie wears.
The stories this little Raggedy Ann could tell- romping on the farm and tea parties with Barbies..... Lol.
Today's cross stitch is "Love" Advent Candles Ornaments from Heartstring Samplery ; my dear sweet friend, Stacy spoiled me with this and other charts. ๐ค❤ " You are my Sunshine, Stacy!" ๐๐ป
I better run ,ya'll. There is Sunday visiting to take place at mom's with a big Sunday dinner. And then who knows what the day allows , but I guarantee quilting and stitching will continue in the evening. Have a blessed and beautiful day and ...
As always...
Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll

Loved your hutch post and your quilts are coming along so wonderfully, I am still in love with the Wild Rose Quilt!! Your parades were so much fun, have you counted all of your patterns lately, you are so generous to all of us with your creations. I love your adopted Petunia and your sweet Penelope, or maybe I have their names mixed up. Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday with your family..Warm hugs from sunny Arizona, alittle windy today, LOL!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, dear Mary. I hope you are having a wonderful month of February. I have missed you as well. I do need to finish my Wild Rose Quilt, but I have distracted into another project. I am sure you have experienced that before. Lol. Petunia is a hoot and I was surprised when the grandbaby got in the pen, but he is an animal lover and the 2 took to one another . Mary I hope you have the most lovely and blessed Valentine's . Sending you hugs, love and blessings.
DeleteI have a threadbare Raggety Anne doll around here somewhere…. Lovely scraps! Enjoy! Gail at the Cozy Quilter
ReplyDeleteLol it sounds like your Annie is well loved too. I just adore Raggedy Ann. Thank you for the sweet visit, Gail. Happy quilting.
DeleteI love that Grandmother's Love quilt - it just occurred to me today that the red sections are hearts! Have a wonderful Sunday with your family, and hope you get some stitching time, too!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Diann. I thought the red sections looked like hearts as well. I have been quilting a wonky heart in them sorta following the design. It has been a joy to work on . Happy Valentine's Day.
DeleteIt is always nice go see what you are up to, that quilt is lovely. Such a kind hubby to bring it home to surprise you.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Jenny. I was so surprised when he brought me this quilt top along with another. I hope to share it soon. Happy quilting and safe travels. Hugs.

DeleteVery sweet of your husband. It's such a pretty quilt and you've done a great job hand quilting it. Enjoy the family dinner, sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Astrid. I was over the moon when hubby came home with this quilt top and quite surprised. He knows my love for anything red. Happy Valentine's Day.
DeleteI love the Grandmother's quit - it will be gorgeous when you're done. And how neat your hubby picked it up for you! Did he know you wanted it for your birthday? or was it a spur of the moment thing?
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Oh thank you so much, Donna. I was surprised when he brought home not just this quilt top but another one as well. He stopped at a little consignment shop after work . It was a spur of the moment thing , but he knows he can not go wrong buying me anything sewing related. Lol. Happy Valentine's Day.
DeleteThe Grandmother's Quilt looks fabulous, Melissa. What a pretty stitch you are working on! I stitched a couple of those for my aunt one Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much, Robin. I was hoping to have the quilt finished by now, but that is alright that I don't. I am enjoying every stitch. I bet your aunt adored the ornaments you made her. This one is stitching up quickly. Happy Valentines. Hugs.
DeleteI love the grandma's quilt Melisa, is looking great! Oh how I miss my Raggedy Ann! Funny history I bought the pattern to make Rageddy Ann and Andy, about 25 years ago because I was nostalgic about the ones I had as a little girl and made them. They were and my bedroom until I married and I couldn't take them with me. Then my niece was born and she fell in love with them so I gave them to her. Last time I visited my parents I found the pattern and brought it with me, so I hope I can make them again soon!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Oh what a wonderful story, Diana. I think you do need to make one for yourself. I hope your niece still has yours and is treasuring them. My house is filled with Raggedy Anns and Andys . My grandmother was a doll maker and sold them and I was lucky enough to get a number of them myself. Unfortunately my girls never enjoyed them and now I have grandsons who think they are creepy , but lol they sure make me smile. I am so glad you was able to find the pattern .
DeleteHi Melissa. I look forward to your posts. You and I have a love of so many of the same things. I love Raggedy Ann too. When I was in Seventh grade home economics, some of the girls in our sewing class made large Raggedy Ann dolls. I was smitten and have loved Ann ever since. I never had one as a child, but I collect them now. I'm still smitten with Raggedy Ann.
ReplyDeleteHugs & Blessings.
Oh , I just love to hear that I have a kindred spirit out there. Do you still have your large Raggedy Ann? I think I would have loved that class if we could have made a doll. We had to make dresses in home ec. Lol. I am still smitten over Raggedy Anns too. I have a house full of them and am always on the look out for more. Unfortunatley I did not get the talent of making dolls like my Nanny. She was a fabulous doll maker. Hugs and blessings and thank you for the sweet visit, Chris.
DeleteYour quilt is looking so lovely Melisa! And how nice to have dinner at your mom's on Sunday. Boy, do I miss my mom... The little ornament is so sweet--looks like a lovely chart you received. Have a wonderful, creative week ahead ♥
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Carol. Time does not seem to heal the loss of a loved one that is for sure, but I am sure your mom is smiling down upon you. Most of the family still gathers at mom's on Sundays; I always look forward to that time around the table. Sending hugs.
DeleteWhat a beautiful quilt top, Melisa!!! The colors are so vibrant! And yes, I had the same Raggedy Ann doll. Not exactly sure where mine is. Might be buried in a box in our box room. Poor thing!
ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Nancy. I am enjoying every stitch . I hope to complete this quilt very soon. Lol. Wasn't Raggedy Ann the best? Thank you for the sweet visit. Happy quilting.
