Winter Stamp SAL Stamp 5 Winter Skates

Good Saturday  morning! Wheew we made it ! The weekend is here! Hip Hip Hooray!  Do you have any special plans for the day ?

Mr. Pinker and I will be out exploring the desert and  enjoying all of the beauty that it has to offer. By evening time, we will make our way back to camp where I hope to settle down to a stitch or two.

Speaking of stitch. Stamp 5 is complete!  It is called "Winter Skates"  ❄❄❄☃

I have never gone ice skating. Have you?  Well let me take that back. When we were kiddos, we would put on our snow boots and go out on the ice covered cow pond. Dad always told us not to go out on the pond unless he was there. Well , I guess you know where this is going. One year, I decided to go out on the pond unsupervised. I no more than set foot on the slippery ice when "Swish" my feet gave way and I landed with a big thud on the ice. I scrambled up to see if anyone saw me. Wheew no one did, but I left an indention in the ice where my head hit. I was for sure that dad would realize that was a head impression , but he didn't . LOL. I never did go out on the ice by myself again.

"Winter Skates " was inspired by last year's Mr. Snow Embroidery block called "Ice Skating

  1. Well, there you are!!! I get the feeling you and Mr Pinker are having lots of fun on your adventures. Of course, I've been ice skating - no skates needed, as I was right outside my front door on the icy sidewalk and very pregnant with my daughter! LOL Does that count? Please say yes. LOL BTW, we were living in Massachusetts.
The ice skates are fabulous and oh so cute!! Take good care and keep having fun.

  2. As a 12 year old, I did a lot of rollerskating. As an adult, I tried iceskating and did more slipping and sliding than actual skating. LOL! I needed friends nearby to keep me on my feet.

  3. We used to go skating at our local park where they had a small lake and a little river inlet...they even had a warming shed and served FREE hot chocolate...what fun we had...
Your little skate block brings me back--[all the girls wore long long scarfs then and the boys would try to grab the scarfs hahaha--usually we were too quick for them...;)))]
Neat drawing Melisa...hope you are enjoying the warmth..tomorrow they say the frigid weather will return here...hugs, Julierose

  4. We did a lot of crazy things as kids, right? Glad your ice foray was not disastrous. I've never ice skated but have slid across a lot of iced puddles - lol! Enjoy your fun in the desert! :)

  5. I just knew it was going to be skates! I have never went as I figured I would spend all my time sitting on the ice, LOL. I hope you are having a lovely time in the desert:) We are going on a bike ride and visiting with friends today. Maybe a little sewing too.

  6. Build a snowman in the forest? I have been on ice skates.... my weak ankles much prefer me walking on ice with shoes or boots. I tend to stay upright that way! Both my kids have checked ice skating off their list. Enjoy your travels. The skates are adorable.

  7. This is a cute one! I went ice skating a number of times growing up including with church group and scouts. I had issues with balance and staying upright so I tended to be a wall hugger. Now, I wouldn't dream of it.

  8. We did do a lot of ice skating growing up! I lived in New York State so there was lots of cold weather for it. My dad would flood a low spot in the backyard and let it freeze. It was fun to go out and skate around on it! Love these skates to stitch, Melisa!

  9. I never actually had skates, but, like you, my boots made pretty good skates... at least I couldn't keep them under me when on ice! LOL

  10. Oh my--skating--well--would you believe we did that also on a cow pond--think we had one or two pairs of skates we all shared-- I never could get the hang of it!!! but we had alot of fun anyways and Mom always hot cocoa ready for us when we got home!!
I finally got my cloth on Friday and so far have the top part done as for the arch and the word winter and got one box outline done this morning--but still way behind--
enjoy the warm temps were you are--I am even cold here in mid Florida!!!

  11. Super cute stamps, Melisa! All my childhood ice skating was done on the pond in the cow field. All of us kids would go. Dad and the boys would shovel the snow off first. I was afraid a bull would come charging! I suppose they were locked up in the barn in the winter though.

  12. That was quite the story! I once went ice skating on a small lake. It was fun. We warmed up drinking hot cider. I spent a lot of my time getting up from falling down!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  13. I have ice skated exactly once and decided it was not for me. Did plenty of sliding on frozen ponds and sidewalks and parking lots but never again on thin little rails of metal. LOL Glad to hear that you are enjoying yourselves and exploring the desert. The sunset pictures have been beautiful!
