Good morning, y'all !  My wee Pat- A -Cake Quilt is complete!

I do believe I need to celebrate with a cake. Hmmm , maybe a Hummingbird Cake - that sounds quite delicious  don't you agree?

Pat- a Cake was made from the scraps left over from Darlene's Quilt
Oooh,  if you missed my finish on Darlene's Quilt , please hop on over  to that post. I share all of the measurements just in case you want to make one of your own.

Anywhoo, I finished the quilting on Pat- a Cake  while camping in Texas  which I posted about in March in A Lazy Day at Camp. If you would like to see that wonderful camping spot, just click the colored text.

 Pat - a Cake measures 16 " x 20" and is made up of 20 scrappy blocks.

Each block measures 4" finished.

 To make one block cut 2 pieces of scraps  2 1/2" x 4 1/2" .

Using a 1/4" seam allowance sew the strips together and press. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

Make as many blocks as you want and then sew them together in pretty tidy little rows.

I must warn you that these blocks are quite addictive and soon you may find that your quilt has grown, grown, grown

Now that this wee quilt is completed , it is time to move on to the next one. I have been cutting loads of strips for a new quilt.

Now tell me . Do you have an Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy  quilt in the works?

I so appreciate the sweet visit. I hope your day is filled with sprinkles of happiness ! Oh heck , how about just a downpour of pure joy! Now that sounds about right!  Have a beautiful day, sweet friends.

As Always...

Happy quilting and stitching, y'all

  5. Good Morning! Actually no quilts in the making right now. I have a few on my bucket list - including the pattern you mentioned above but time and travel takes me away from it. Hopefully, I'll get a few "empty" days to work on them - Number one is repairing my dd's family quilt. Blessings!

  13. That is cute as can be, Melisa! I love the sweet prints you used, especially the red with the dogs. You're making me want to pull out some strips and start sewing. Maybe I'll use some blocks like those as leaders and enders in between my star sections that I need to work on today. I don't think I have any prints nearly as fun as yours though!

    1. I hope you made great progress on your stars today, Diann- perhaps a finish? Oh yes, this would be a great leader/ender project. Can you believe I have had some of those fabrics for 20 years or longer? It is about time I began cutting into them. Lol. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.

  14. Sweet Patty=Cake Quilt~~ Love using up all the bits and pieces from my quilts. I am trying to decide what to do with all of my orphan blocks(I have about 50+ of assorted sizes), I am thinking about trying to get at least 2 done for my Grand-daughter and her hubby for Christmas. it will take some fudging and sashings to get them to a uniform sizes! Loved hearing of the boys grand fun fishing trip, are they keeping the turtle as a reminder?? Kids are the best when it comes to having fun no matter what happens! Hugs from Arizona, summer is coming!!

    1. A sampler of your orphan blocks would be amazing, Mary. I have always wanted to do one, but right now it remains on my bucket list. I love to see sampler quilts with different size blocks . I am sure it take a lot of figuring and arranging and rearranging to get them just right, but I know you would do a fabulous job. The boys just took a photo of the turtle; it was so teeny. I am not sure if it was a baby, but it was as cute as a button. I know my oldest would have loved to keep it though. He is animal crazy. Lol. Hugs and Blessings.

Cream cheese frosting always gets my attention. LOL The little figurine of the 2 birdies reminds me of one my granddad had that always had toothpicks in the little basket. So cute!!
