ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to look back at old recipes? Thank you so much for the sweet visit, Brenda. Hugs.
DeleteGrad Girl recently had a request for a strawberry dream pie, which used jello and cool whip. She's too young to remember those older recipes. It was the first time she's ever used cool whip in anything. She said it was surprisingly good.
ReplyDeleteMmmm that sounds heavenly. I am so glad Grad girl got her yummy pie. Did she make it or did you? I always think mama' s pies are better than my own. Lol. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteYum, yum. yummy!!! I am old enough to remember these recipes very fondly. My mother made them for us, and I was given her recipe box with all of her wonderful, tasty treats for my children. She made her own pie crusts, but she did use those recipes!! (I still have her handwritten recipe's.) Thank you for the sweet memories. Hugs from sunny Arizona.
ReplyDeleteOh my what a treasure to have your mom's hand written recipes and her recipe box. How lucky are you. I have my Nanny's recipe books but her handwritten recipes are my favorite. She wrote hers on envelopes or scrap paper. My Granny never used written recipes. She used a pinch of this and that. I sure wish she had written them down.Lol. Thank you for dropping by , Mary. Hugs.
DeleteThose recipes look wonderful! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day!
ReplyDeleteDon't these sound yummy ? I look forward to trying these in the future. Thank you for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteOh how fun! We love vintage recipes .... actually we love ALL recipes especially delicious-sounding ones and these fill the bill. I'll be trying these soon!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy looking at vintage recipes especially dessert recipes. Thank you so much, Susie for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteI make the strawberry ice cream pie and use a baked shortbread style crust (make sure it has salt and not too sweet). It is absolutely one of our favorite desserts. I highly recommend people give it a try. The frozen Birds Eye strawberries are sadly a thing of the past, but it’s still possible to slice your own and add a bit of sugar to replicate the juicy sweetness of those frozen ones. Very yummy and top with sweetened whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteOh my the shortbread style crust sounds delicious. I will have to give it a try. Don't you just love looking at vintage recipes ? We usually put up fresh sliced strawberries in the freezer. Sometimes we add sugar ; sometimes we do not. It is nice to have them when berry season is over. Thank you so much for the sweet visit. Hugs.
DeleteOh, Fun! Thanks for writing both of them out for us! The Parfait Pie really is fairly simple, isn't it? I may give this a try for my son, although we have been trying to steer clear of desserts, lately. It may be a perfect thing for Father's Day. The little vintage images ( advertising & such) you scatter around your posts are always so cute! I keep forgetting to mention them. Where do you find them?
ReplyDeleteDon't they sound so yummy? I am hoping to make the Jello Ice Cream Pie very soon. It would be great for Father's Day. I find the vintage images on Graphic Fairy and pinterest .Many of them take me back to the good ole' days. I love the advertisements. Thank you for the sweet visit, Ginny. Hugs.
DeleteOh, and now I'm hungry :) Thank you for sharing the recipes!
ReplyDeleteLol there is nothing like reading vintage recipes to get the stomach growling. Thank you for the sweet visit, Jeanna. Hugs.
