I did it! I did it! After six long years of work on Scrapberries, I finally finished the applique of this quilt!
Excuse me for a minute while I do a little happy jig! 💃💃💃🍓 I think a finish deserves a dance - don't you? 😀

I began the journey on this quilt in 2018 using lots of red and green scraps.

That year the bottom section of our house had flooded so as it was being remodeled I had plenty of time on my hands to work on quilts as I watched the workers.
I challenged myself to use one simple shape and create several quilts with my scraps that included Scrapberries and Candy Corn Quilt.

I foundation pieced the strawberries and their caps. Thirty berries were appliqued in all.
I have to admit I went a bit snap happy when I went out to the farm photographing it. I could not go down to the strawberry fields because it was too wet, but the barnyard was just fine.

Now Scrapberries will go into a hoop. Fingers crossed it will not take 6 years to quilt it. 😂

We are moving from our house to an apartment in another city so I haven’t had a chance to get cross stitch done. Leaving Monday on a cruise so my stitchy work is going with me. Woohoo can’t wait.

DeleteScrapberries had a journey with you. It is so pretty and what beautiful landscape there on the farm. Perfect pairing with your quilt. I too love that idea of using a simple shape. Sometimes that is the most effective!

ReplyDeleteAaah thank you so much, Brenda. It was such a blustery day for photos but I persevered. I had high hopes to go down to the strawberry fields but waters were rising and the fields were wet so the hill did just fine. Lol. You know how photo shoots can be- always an adventure. Hugs.
DeleteWhat a sweet & delicious-looking quilt! I love the idea of strip piecing the shapes and then appliqueing them down. The gray sashing is exactly perfect with the berries and green cornerstones. Over the fence took me over the moon! Great job!

DeleteI can't wait to see Scrapberries all quilted and softly wrinkled, the best part of finishing the quilting part! Washed, dried and softly textured! Still working on my Sisters' Quilt ! I did for each of my 3 sisters and finished theirs but I still need to finish the quilting on mine. It has been 4 years waiting. lol Warm hugs from sunny Arizona. How many fishes did the "boys" capture??
ReplyDeleteOh I bet your Sister's Quilt is just delightful , dear Mary and how sweet to have made your 3 sisters each a quilt. Of course you need yours completed too. Hopefully, you will be enjoying it in the near future . Well the boys did missed one bass which that is what they were supposed to catch , but caught 2 crappie and a turtle. Lol. Plus they saw lots of snakes. They didn't place , but they said it was the best fishing trip which made me happy. I wish you a beautiful day and Happy quilting. Hugs.
