It's finished! It's finished! Yipee! I have a finish!
Good morning, Sweet Peas . Is it Monday already? Where did the weekend go ? It just flew by for me. How about you ?
🧵
Darlene's Quilt is finished. I fell in love with this design last year when I saw my dear friend, Darlene's mini quilt. I just had to have one of my own. For months , I worked on my blocks as a leader and ender project. My blocks measured 8 1/2" unfinished - 8" finished.
In March and April of this year, Mr. Pinker and I went on a month long camping trip and Darlene's quilt accompanied me. Most of the quilting was completed while camping in Texas.
|
The body of the quilt finished at Whitney, TX. |
I hand quilted small pinwheels in each block.
I quilted the borders when I got home using a hand drawn cable design.
A pretty pink fabric found at a Texas Goodwill was used for the binding
|
I used a cotton sheet for the backing. |
I am over the moon with how the quilting looks. It really pops doesn't it?
There were 30 blocks in this quilt .
Darlene's Quilt measures 48" x 56" .
The green top/bottom borders measured 4 1/2" x 40 1/2"unfinished.
The green left/ right borders measure 4 1/2" x 48 1/2" unfinished.
The corner squares measure 4 1/2" unfinished.
Would you like to make a block ? I must warn you - they are addictive!
FOR ONE BLOCK
FROM DARK FABRIC - CUT- 1 2 1/2" x 9 1/2" strip
FROM LIGHT FABRIC - CUT- 1 2 1/2" x 9 1/2" strip

|
Sew the 2 strips together. |
🧵2. Subcut the strips which you just sewed into 4 1/2" blocks.
|
Strip subcut into 4 sections measuring 4 1/2" squared. |

|
Lay out blocks into a Pinwheel design. |
🧵4. Sew the squares together. Press!
EASY PEASY!
Thank you, Darlene, for the sweet inspiration, encouragement, and friendship.
Now let's sit back on Darlene's Quilt and enjoy this warm sunny day ! It is a perfect day for a picnic! Don't you think?
Have a beautiful day!
As Always...
