Welcome ya'll and Happy September. Where did August go?

September is always an exciting month in my neck of the woods. The  grandbabies will be starting their fall ball, plus we have cookouts and camping trips planned for the month.   Hopefully, the youngins will   have at least one more dip in the pool too - goodness knows it is still warm enough.   Do you have any grand plans for September?

There are several fun events taking place in the cross stitch community. There is Sampler September ,  Sunflower September , and Ann @annmakesthings on Instagram is hosting Saltbox September. (Eeeh she and other sweet stitchers are going to be stitching my latest saltbox). I am so excited!!!  If you know any other fun happenings let me know.

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt will be hosting the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop from September 19th- 23rd.  A time for fun, fun , fun!

Well today starts  the Get on Board Blog Hop  with Melva at Melva Loves Scraps and Brenda at Songbird Designs
Off to the beach we will go with all kinds of tropical fun in store for us. Grab your towel, beach ball and don't forget the suntan lotion.

These are the lovely ladies that will be sharing today. Hope you will pop over to say hi.

Ring the bell  !!!! I have a finish!

Dear Patricia, sent me this quilt pattern called "One Big Star" by Duck Soup.  I knew I wanted fabrics that would work for several seasons - Dark red and brown worked perfectly.

I have to say this quilt pieced up lickety split, and I am so pleased with the results. I will be making it again perhaps in patriotic colors. Soon this one  will go into a hoop for quilting.  Thank you, so much Patricia for all of the quilty fun . Hugs.

Today is Embroidery Thursday for me. If ya'll don't know I always dedicate Thursdays to embroidery work. It is easy to pick up when I am watching the grandbabies.
So last night I cut a scrap of fabric, doodled out a design, and now I am ready to finish this piece up.
It is called 1821 Pumpkin Saltbox.

I also pulled some fabrics with the thought of appliqueing the design too. But I will  have to see if that actually happens-  just depends if I start chasing anymore squirrels.
It has been awhile since I have shared a doodle. Sooo....

Click here if you would like the doodle for yourself.

You can use it for embroidery , applique , needle punch or whatever.

Ok, I better get to work if I am going to have this embroidery completed before school lets out  for   I have grandbabies to play with afterwards. 😀

Thank you so much for the sweet Thursday visit. I appreciate each and everyone of you. Hugs and love and as always...

Happy  Stitching and Quilting, ya'll

Melisa

  2. Happy September, Melisa! Love your Star quilt top that you put together! I think it would be fabulous in lovely fall colors as well as the red, white and blue you mentioned. No big plans for September other than stitch group and a few stitching lunches.

    1. Oh thank you so much, Robin. I do need to piece it in fall colors too. I thought some embroidery work or applique would look lovely in the corner blocks too.  I hope your month is filled with blessings. It sounds like you are going to have a good one. Hugs.

  3. Thanks so much for all the stitching charts! I really appreciate them. Do you use a software program to do them? I wonder because I have some charts I would like to do. Thanks again. Margie/TN

    1. Aaah thank you so much , dear Margie. You are so kind. It has been a lot of fun sharing them. Oh yes, there are a lot of great software programs out there. I am not very techy and am limited by the devices that I use , but I always tell everyone to consider what device they want to work off of and then find the software online that fits their needs. I am still learning and need lots of help in generating them. But my daughter helps when she can. Have a great day.

  8. I so enjoy your postings. You inspire me to do something with my own "doodles". I think, 'If Melisa can do it, so can I!' Thanks for your generous spirit. What is the deciding factor in the historical years you choose for different projects?

  10. Lightnin' Bug is my old roller derby name, my real name is Tina and I am in central Ohio. I have a question for you about a picture you posted back on July 25, 2021 about a fall themed piece you were working on that you later named Harvest House. I have been saving MANY of your patterns the last two nights, but have not yet found this anywhere in your blog. Did you ever share it, and if not, would I be able to get a copy? It is a blue house on a hill with pumpkins, corn stalks, a scarecrow, a wagon with pumpiks, 2 droopy treest and an orange and yellow star quilt on the side of the house. Let me know...and thanks! I am not normally a prim or Saltbox stitcher, but your patterns may have changed me. I have SO MANY saved....

    1. Good afternoon, Tina . Thank you so much for the sweet visit and for leaving me a message that means so much to me. I did finish Harvest House but have not posted it. I will add that to my list to post here this month. At the time I did not know how well a bigger chart would post since I am not very techy, but I have seen other stitchers stitch some of my larger charts so they must come out ok . Eeeh I am so excited that you are interested in stiching saltboxes. But watch out. they can be addicitive. Lol. Keep an eye out and I will post it soon, my dear. Happy stitching.

    2. Thank you for responding. I am glad I didn't miss the chart, and look forward to it. Like I said, prim isn't necessarily my aesthetic but for some reason seeing all of your saltbox houses displayed in your hutch really makes me want to stitch them. Looking forward to it.
